Opinions: Eternal love doesn't exist. So loving means for a finite time. Could you survive the end? Would you love anyway?

I just watched this movie: La belle personne.
In it this girl Junie says:
"If we're two ordinary people how long will our love last? Eternal love doesn't exist, not even in books. So loving means for a finite time."
Basically this is the reason she's not pursuing a relationship between her and this guy, who both love each other. Cause she says that she sees the potential for a great love, and she knows she wouldn't survive when it ends.
Just wanted opinions.

I haven`t watched that movie (never heard before) but for me it`s obvious that is not the real reason she is not pursuing a relationship with that guy. That statement is just an excuse for herself. Fear is the reason for that. Fear of pain, fear of suffering, fear of rejection. For the beginning, the premises of her statement is wrong. Eternal love does exist because if it`s not eternal, then it`s not Love.

I believe as time passes love between two individuals takes different forms. It may be the cute lovey dovet type love at first, then the I'll take care of you type love, then always look after each other love...etc..

Well I'm Christian and I believe that we'll see all our loved ones throughout the ages in heaven (the ones that made it, that is), and that love will be carried over into heaven, and remain eternal. So yes there can be eternal love.

I like to believe that my grandparents, who were married and so very in love for 60 years before they passed away (in the Catholic faith together), are with eachother now, in heaven, continuing their marriage.

Disagree with your last statement. In heaven there is no marriage as Jesus have said at Matthew 22:30. It`s not love in sexual biased way, but regardless of gender.
