My sister is taller than me barefoot, my wife is taller than me with heels. How can I cope with height complex?

At childhood, I was lucky for growth. I was 1.74 at the age 14, tall for that age. I was 8-10 cm taller than my one year older sister. Somehow, things went bad. My growth stopped at that age, but my sister continued to grow taller after that. She became 1.77, so 3 cm taller than me. Sometimes I am ashamed of this situation. After the age 30, I also began to shrink 5cm due to posture disorder. Now I am 1.69. When I get together with my sister, she becomes way taller than me with high-heels. I have a great complex with her. Also my wife is 1.67. How can I cope with? When she wears high-heel (12 cm) shoes she becomes taller than me (7-8 cm). Everybody looks us strangely. This bothers me a lot. What should I do?

As far as people giving you looks goes, if they aren't essential to your life you can safely discard their opinions. If somebody you care about complains you can consider safely discarding the whole person :)

Your height and all the things that go with it are part of who you are and that fact isn't going anywhere, but at the same time your height doesn't define you as a person. You seem like you probably have a lot of other awesome things going for you based on the fact that both your wife and sister seem to like you, which may seem like an odd statement but sisters won't usually hang out with brothers that suck, and your wife? She married you! Which is a pretty good sign that she likes you exactly how you are, height included. She woke up one day and knew she didn't want anybody other than you.

I think rather than learning new coping mechanisms and trying to push it all as far away as you can, you should try and find closure and confidence about your height. I think people of every height have a problem with it, we all wish we were taller or shorter, so you're never alone in with that insecurity. Maybe you can ask your wife if she ever wishes or used to wish she was a different height. Even if she never says it out loud, it's probable that she's felt that way at some point in her life and will understand your feelings.

Consider why it bothers you, your wife still clearly loves you, she's taller than you, so what?

Is it because society makes you think the man should be taller, if you REALLY think about it, does it really matter, does your being shorter mean you're weaker or any less male? Obviously not.

The worst thing this does to you is affect your confidence, you need to really be confident that your height really isn't an issue... because it isn't.
