What do you believe triggers "Infatuation" in people?

"The world looks more vibrant somehow, Quitting my job, or getting married, stuff I used to stress about, I just don't care anymore because now, now I'm in love!" -Retsuko (Aggretsuko) If you've ever fell in love with someone before, you might have experienced "infatuation", a short-lived but deep passionate feeling for someone you've attracted to. The whole world around you is covered in happiness, all logic is thrown out the window and you can't help but think of anyone but that one person you're in love with!  While we know it'll happen to people who seek love, the question I'm wondering is: What exactly triggers "infatuation" in the first place? Is it because this is a feeling we've never had before that feels so good and want to keep experiencing it? Is it because of our instincts in wanting to mate with someone we want to be romantically involved with? I'm just curious what you all think of this!

First thing is proven is pheramones and real actual body chemistry. The chemistry never fades it's not infatuation is
an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone or something. Short lived that means real love or real relationships take work, people change but our feelings toward someone develope over yime. I think that more often than not, it's a single or some little things.
I could be mistaken, but in my experience a little thing of that person sparks the interest in discovering more about them.

With my girlfriend it was like that.
When I first saw her, or better, when I first took notice of her, it was with other friends and the way she smiled.
We exchanged barely a few words that time, but then I ran into her in café library and made some small chat.
From that small chat started an exchange of interests and phone numbers, which lead to today.

YES. It doesn't necessarily have to be the first time. It might take a long time before you meet someone that makes you feel that way again so you want to hold onto that person with the magical gifts of somehow ping ponging your emotions to a point where you feel amazing.

Being stimulated sexually is one thing.. being stimulated emotionally is an entire different ball game all together. It's a very powerful grip!

I suspect media and culture have some part to do with it in shaping people's imaginations and fantasies and what sort of things trigger a certain fantasy, such as infatuation towards a person, and the hopes and expectations that come along with it.

I think it's instinct as you say, it keeps us from extinction. Just like there are instincts regarding taking care of babies, etc. even though it's really negative for individual resources. That all is purely animal nature though.

That feeling is heavenly. They say God is love and I believe that is true. Imagine if we all were just infatuated with each other (even in a platonic way which is possible). What a great world that would be.

Back to the question, i think it's something that no one can explain , not even science. It's a sudden attraction, chemistry or whatever you want to call it that makes you feel sick , dizzy and gets your heart racing.
It's an ephemeral emotion that fades with time just like the other emotions.

It's kind of the same feeling you get right before a drug addiction. Fist time i felt real infatuation was the scent of a clean guy, his pheromones appealed to me

For me it’s when there’s strong biological compatibility, like it’s something to do with the way a person smells & their antibodies being different from your antibodies so you can in theory create genetically superior offspring. Lol in other words it’s purely biological and very very rare

For me, intelligence and reasonably attractive physical looks. One can't happen without the other though, and some level of genuine interest in me as I have for them needs to be there... can't be one sided, or that will lose my interest as well.

You have to really want a woman in your life first then being infatuation can be triggered quite easily. Once the desire is there that button can be pushed at any moment and usually when it is most unexpected but the desire has to be there first.
