What should I do when my boyfriend excluded me from a group activity?

My boyfriend introduced me to a game a few months back. At the time he was the only one out of his friend group actively playing it.

Now the we've been playing more, 2 other friends joined and he does pvp games with one of them. I've been interested to pvp and since there's a 3v3 mode i thought it'd be perfect to play with him and his friend that I've became friendly with as well.
But now his other friend started playing too and they do the 3v3 mode together, which makes me a bit upset, because I'm not bad at the game, I'm actually better and more interested in the game than the other friend.
My boyfriend said he'll do a 2v2 mode with me to get used to it, but I think it's just to make me feel better because he excluded me from it.

Should I just leave the game completely and let him play with his friends?
