My period started just now, how do I tell my new boyfriend I’m on my period without making things awkward?

I know this is a tmi kind of question so I apologize. I’m 20 and my boyfriend is 22. We’ve been together for almost a month now. 2 days ago I agreed to go to the gym with him tomorrow, but my period just started now and I don’t really like doing workouts during the start and middle of my period cause that’s when my flow gets heavy and I’ve worked out before at home while I’m on my period and I always end up bleeding through my pants because of putting my body in a different position in which my flow goes in a different angle than my pad (sit ups, squats, whenever I’m on my stomach), so I really prefer not to bleed through my pants at the gym tomorrow and embarrass myself in front of my boyfriend. I’d wear a tampon, but tampons are too big for me to wear, so I’ve always worn pads. But how do I tell my boyfriend without feeling embarrassed or awkward that I’m on my period. I know he won’t take it too immaturely (I think) cause he’s mostly around his older and younger sisters sometimes and he’s a shy/quiet type of guy, so I just don’t want to make thinks awkward if I tell him. I’m not sure how to tell him that I can’t go to the gym with him tomorrow. I do want to tell him that I’m on my period and not say something like, “I’m sick” (cause then I wouldn’t be in classes) or “I don’t feel like going to the gym” (cause then it just sounds like I’m lazy) what do I tell him?

Ummmm just tell him. He’s a grown ass man. If he’s gets squeamish about periods, something that’s sooo natural, then you might wanna start looking for a new man because that is immature.

I remember once I told my boyfriend I was on my period and he actually asked me questions about it. He wanted to know more about what they were like so he could understand me when I went through it. I thought afterwards how sweet that was. I swear I fell in love with him even more that day lol so yeah, just tell him. Don’t say it awkwardly either because if you do, you’re already setting the tone. If you tell him like it’s no big deal (which it isn’t), he’ll probably follow suit

Jokes aside though, he's a grown adult, and period cramps and its flow sucks. I'm sure he'll understand and having you be vulnerable to letting him know will build on your trust.

Just Tell him what's up. I don't know what so embarrasing about being on your Period. It's normal and there will be much more occasions where this will come um. It's once a month. You won't get around telling him. And guys usually don't care or they are just super affectionate and comforting

It's not awkward at all. I have had sex during periods. Thats a different story. The point is just say hey I am on my period. no big deal.

If you want to put a good face on it say, "Hey, I am on my period so I can't have sex. But I get really horny after I have one."

honestly if you're mature enough to fuck, you should be mature enough to talk about periods... if you can't talk about those things, don't have sex. easy as that. you don't need to rub your period all up in his face but telling him, you're on it before sex is just normal. if he didn't grow up in the woods alone, he knows that you have periods anyway.

Just matter of factly tell him you have your period, and can't go to the gym for a few days. If he has any common sense, which I'm sure he does, he will understand. It's not difficult for a guy to understand, at least on a superficial level.

I know it can be embarrassing but all guys understand us girls get our periods. Why not just say " hey I'd prefer not to go to the gym because it's that time of the month damn it, sorry but once it's over then no worries". Once it's said you'll feel heaps better and I guarantee he will be fine with it.
