How to cultivate loyal relationship?

I noticed that some of colleagues have loyal employees, they tell them anything occur while they were away, they send them updates about anything in the work place. I tried to know how can i have such loyal friends, i treat people in nice way , i give gifts , and i help them in hard circumstances. Even i give some money after doing some good deed for me. So what do i have to do to have real faithful friends. As i don't receive same care despite all i provide. Pls help
