Why do girls tend to automatically assume I'm romantically or sexually interested in them when I try to have a conversation with them?

I've always had few female friends because of this. It doesn't matter what topic it is; they always take it the same way, and become defensive and closed!
This is why it's so much easier for me to make male friends than female ones; guys don't think you're doing it due to some romantic or sexual interest, but as a friendly reason. Is this strictly due to sex similarities or differences?

I'm on this one time I spoke to this girl about some class work we had to get done before the end of the month and we exchange numbers but it was just only for class work and nothing more. And I think it was one week into group, it was her friend that that asked me why am I flirting with her. That caught me off guard because I showed her a text message and I never called the girl, but I showed her the text messages and it was all related to the class work. After the project was done, I no longer spoke to that girl and I blocked her number.

It could be a self-esteem issue or an ego, but some people are obsessed with the idea that someone is always trying to talk to them

The rate of which women are hit on are much higher than men, and the ways they are hit on are different all the time, so it is only natural that she would automatically assume you are hitting on her, her vanity is also a factor here (though not every woman thinks you are hitting on them because they are vain), its a similar fashion to how guys confuse basic kindness with flirting, we receive so little compliments, every friendly compliment feels like flirting, they receive so many flirts that every friendly compliment feels like flirting

Because they are so insecure that they try to seek validation in the most trivial things in order to boost their ego. Even if the other person is not trying to show romantic interest. But then again, it also depends on the way you talk to them.

Tried to tell a women that she left her laptop on the roof of her car. She gave me that conceited "how dare a MAN talk to me" look as I approached.

Thought better, and watched her back over it. At this point men should avoid women.

Eh, could be your approach. Maybe because they are women you approach differently then you would a guy. Men tend to talk to girls differently and it could be that difference that sets them off.

It's probably the way you initiate the conversation, but it's hard to say without a video recording, or at least audio. You are making them uncomfortable somehow, and they don't feel safe with you.

Its just how females think and its rather ridiculous cause im quite frankly uninterested in having sex with 99.99% of females. Im not gay. i just dont like so called casual sex, and i dont have the time to get to know everyone i meet.
