Why does my boyfriend always make little sarcastic comments all the time?

I’ve dated my boyfriend for just over a year and we get on really well but when we hang out he had this habit of making snide sarcastic comments.
like if something happens like a mother is yelling at her child he will say something like ‘haha that will be you one day’ etc. but then says he’s ‘joking’.
I’ve been laughing them off but recently I’ve got more annoyed by then and I’m starting to answer him back because it’s not nice.
Weve spoken about things in the past, and he says it’s how he is and he’s always just joking but I think it’s more like he’s passive aggressive, or might even have something like mild Aspergers because he can’t seem to stop himself from saying what comes into his head- I’m his first long term girlfriend so he isn’t that great with relationship stuff but still- any help?

A lot of guys (myself included) tend to make small jokes to the woman we love. Its not meant as passive aggressive, it’s a way that we show affection to those we love.

I'm kind of similar to your boyfriend, I do the same thing. It is actually meant as humor. I don't know him. I'm just telling you that there are people that see that type of comment as humor. I'm living proof. You're never going to change him, that's just who he is. If you can't get past it then it's probably time for you to end this relationship

Can't help but think he's unhappy in your relationship. Passive aggresive behaviour is usually a sign that somone carries recement but can't be bothered to voice the issue (s) out loud.

Yeah that’s what I feel like, he’s too scared and worried to actually say what the problems are so he does this instead, we need to just have a big talk and get things off our chest
