I have a friend who used to pay for these services and here are some of the things I pointed out.
- He was socially awkward.
- He was short and ugly.
- He was poor and had an awful job.
- He was lonely and had been cheated on.
- His father was killed because he got involved with a married woman.
As I said before, in the past, it was easier for men to get a girlfriend because internet and social media didn't exist, we were still living technically under monogamic rules. In the past it was ok for a normal guy with a normal beauty, a humble career and decent social status to be successful with women because these same women would never have access to men outside their region or village.
But look about what we have now, the competition is global, Jordan Peterson talks about it in his book, it's no longer enough to be just a normal man with a normal career because in another state, or even in another country there's a guy way more handsome than you, more wealthy and famous disputing for the same women. Social media and the internet shorten the distance between us and it literally broke the monogamous rules we had in the past.
You are now reading a massage from a guy miles away from you, 50 years ago you wouldn't even be able to imagine something like that. And if it's easier for a woman to reach out to a guy with more status than the man in her own region, it's predictable that a small minority of guys (20%) would be sharing and having fun with almost all women (80%).
Now back to your question, if we no longer live in a monogamous society, what happens to most men who are short, poor, ugly, with no social status and with a broken family? They have no option other than paying for this little and fake interaction with females.
I know it's ridiculous to see guys paying thousands of dollars just to be noted by a woman that doesn't care at all about his existence, but it had always been this way even outside the west. In the Islam they believe that Ala manifests it's perfection though natural selection, and only the best males have the right to reproduce, I believe this is why most Arab dudes are insanely hot.
Nowadays for some men it's just impossible to compete in the dating market, and since they were mostly raised without a strong father figure, they believe it's easier to pay for fake love than working hard to find true love. You'll never see a handsome, tall and successful man paying for these services because they have options.
I don't get it also. it's not my thing. I want to get my hands on the girl, have a legit interaction. I've tried the camming thing and it just seems stupid... why blow your money on a girl on a screen when you can just watch porn if you have to... go on dates or dating sites... even innocent flirtatious messaging on GAG is better than pissing money away on an onlyfans subscription. take that money and invest it in a real girl or bettering yourself to pickup a real girl. people just need to apply themselves. relationships don't just happen over night, you have to put the time in to meet someone.

Although I definitely agree with you 100%, there are a number of reasons why some guys don't.
-They think they can't
-They think a girlfriend will be more expensive
-They think the cam girl is hotter and that they have a chance with her
-They look around and don't like what they see on dating apps
people with partners also watch porn but also you say "just get an actual girlfriend" like it's as simple as breathing. There are many factors into what makes someone attracted to someone else. And the dynamic of what defines relationships are really just evolving as time goes on, for better and worse. I get your frustration, but there's always a chance to find someone.
I can't imagine myself wasting money over cam girls unless I've got millions then I'd be like 'ah fuck ya girl, go enjoy'
Because, like you, they've given up on finding real relationships because they feel that they are unachievable.
Because they want sexual interaction without all the baggage or they can't get a partner
