Your mother is right. You are only in high school, you are high on hormones and clouded by emotions and even though your boyfriend may be a gentleman, your maturity levels are vastly different.
Why can’t he date someone in his age range? It seems a bit fishy to me. I’m a teenager too, and I was interested in older guys too, but this is not the age. You need to date someone within your age range, preferably a year or two younger/older.
Your brain undergoes a lot of changes during this age and you may think you know everything, but your mother has more experience than you do. Think about this, why would a mother not want to see her own child happy? Would she do anything harmful to her own child? Absolutely not (assuming she is not abusive).
You need to sort of keep this very quiet (like don't talk about him, don't have him come over, don't text from home, etc) until you are 18. You can see him away from home if you are able to do that. If you are sleeping with him please be SURE to use birth control. Your mom can make a lot of trouble for him until you turn 18, so be VERY careful.
If you’re in highschool and he’s 4 years older than you, I’m assuming you’re an 18 year old senior that would make him 22. In the real world there’s nothing wrong with that but the fact you’re about to graduate highschool while he’s graduating college age is a little weird.
