Why doesn't she introduce me to her family?

I've been in a relationship with a Turkish girl for one year. I want to meet her family but she doesn't accept this. She said if you meet them it means for them hey we want to get married and they expect serious things from you, they expect you to show a Turkish style respect. The problem is that when we first met, her roommate was a boy and her family in Turkey knew this and it was fine. Is she making up an excuse?
