Am I wrong for getting mad when my boyfriend calls my dog's puppies 'rat', or 'possums'?

This isn't just a one-time thing, he does this every time. Whenever I ask him about them he'll usually say something along the lines of, 'The rats...' or 'The possum'. When I finally got enough of it, he said I was 'getting worked up over nothing.' and that 'It's just how he calls them, it doesn't mean anything bad, was I wrong for getting angry?

Could be he's dropping hints that you're giving them more attention than him. But if not, then it's time to ditch his ass as he's trying to control what you like.
