This evening my boyfriend asked me if I really want to be with him. What does this question mean? Why is he asking me this?

( we are around our early 20s) Around 1 o’clock to 2 o’clock of the evening my boyfriend tells me that he hasn’t talked to because he was thinking if I really want to be with him. In a sense that he doesn’t give me enough time of the day to talk to me because he has school, practice, etc. I just wanted to add; he is a bad texter as well so nothing new. Later on, my boyfriend tells me that he is saying it from the bottom of his heart and that he wants to ask me if I really want to be with him. In that same sentences he states that he feels bad that he can’t talk to me sometimes. Afterwords, he states that he doesn’t know if I still want to put up with that.

Just want some outside opinions, why is he asking me this. Is it for reassurance? Or anything in that nature?

He is feeling guilty about the way he’s treating you OR he’s got something on the side and he’s trying to get you to break-up with him 🤷🏻‍♂️

He might be drunk or he might be feeling insecure. When I read the title I thought it might have been him getting ready for a proposal, but it doesn’t seem to be like that.
