Once a cheater always a cheater?

So my boyfriend cheated on his last ex (not with me) about 1 1/2 years before we got together. He was honest about it before we even got together & told me he was very emotionally damaged during that time & she was a terrible girlfriend. I do not know the girl or anything like that. We have been together 7 months & he has never once given me a reason to not trust him. He never hides his phone or has issues with me going on it & he is never unaccounted for. Never once has something felt “off.” Bur of course as someone who is an over thinker & saw her parent’s cheat on each other I worry … Advice?

Sounds like you shouldn’t have gotten into a relationship with him in the first place since you know how you get into your own head and you’d get insecure about his past. I’m not saying you’re wrong for that feeling, but it’s not wise to be with someone who brings it out of you. On a personal level I agree that once a cheater always a cheater. He says he’s damaged from his ex but yet she’s the one cheated on and god knows what else he put her through, as you only get his sob story side. Clearly he knows how to sneak around in order to have been unfaithful so who knows what he does as of now.

i would say generally speaking people learn from mistakes and improve. having said that, i still would never trust someone again that previously cheated on me.
