How can I as a socially awkward/shy guy go about befriending my new coworker then eventually ask her out?

I'm a guy that work at a grocery store and anyways i'm a shy guy and there's this new girl that recently started working there she happens to work in my department. I know she's new because I had to train her on her first day and anyways I think she's really cute and would like to befriend her and ask for her number and eventually ask her out but as I said previously i'm a shy guy and can't for the life of me do it in fact I don't even know how to do and need some help on how to go about it without coming off as creepy or weird and having social awkwardness fuck everything up
