How to get over/stop obsessing over a friend who I used to see as a potential partner?

Long story short: I (23 M) in a long distance relationship with my girlfriend (25 F) and in my area I have this friend (21 F) and we grew really close a couple years ago, to the point where she sent me nudes. I asked her out during that time, but she told me she wasn't interested in a relationship so I moved on. For some reason I still obsess over her from time to time and it's really annoying. I know she's not into me and I should only have eyes for my girlfriend, but I can't help but think about her every so often. How do I get over her?

I think a big problem is the fact that she’s closer while your girlfriend is not. Already I feel like LDR relationships aren’t for everyone, but when you’re trying to get over someone much more accessible than your current partner then it’s hard to really move on. You need in-person time where you can hang out, touch, be together and grow in a real way. Right now, unless you and your girlfriend have a solid plan (not just hopes and dreams) to either move in together or at least closer then it’ll keep being hard to get over the girl unfortunately.

I do plan on moving in once I graduate (I'm in my last semester) and I'm actually visiting her for a few weeks after school

I really think that will make a big difference, but in the mean time maybe do what the other guy suggested and try therapy
