I said I missed him through text and he replied with ❤️, what does it mean?

We met on Reddit, he asked for my number and moved to WhatsApp because he said he wanted get to know me and talk anytime. He lives halfway across the world, and has shared his plans to visit me soon. We’ve been chatting almost every day for about a month and a half.

He was very enthusiastic about getting to know me, what I like or enjoy doing. It’s easy to talk to him about everything: what’s happening in my life, movies, sexy time, etc. He rarely talks about his day, but says if it’s great or not.

I am very expressive, I tell him that I miss him and that I like him. He always responds that he misses me too, but never says it first. However, he always message me with: good morning, how was your sleep/day, have a good day/night/sleep.

Lately, he hasn’t been online as much. Sometimes he would read my message after 1 or 2 days. So, I usually ask him if he’s busy or if I’m being clingy. English is not his first Language, so he always asks me why am I asking these things. And when I explain, he laughs and tells me that I don’t have to worry about it because he enjoys my personality.

I know it’s early to assume things, I just wanted to get a feel of things. Looking forward to your thoughts.

Earlier this month, when I penned him a birthday message he expressed that I am a very important person to him. He still keeps in touch though sometimes he’d only get to reply after a day or two usually on weekends. And that’s okay, I understand that we have life outside of our little world & we’re still getting to know each other. I think some people call it the “talking stage.”

These past few days he’s been more open, sending me pics and letting me know that he’s at the park in the wee hours of the morning. Or that he’s excited to get his hands on a new mangà he just bought.

When I texted him I like him, his response is 😁. Hahaha. I’m so confused, but I’m enjoying the moment.

Maybe the novelty of your situation is wearing off and reality is setting in. In the beginning (which can even be a few months), everything is interesting, fresh and fun but LDR situations are not meant for everyone especially in different countries. I don't know maybe it was engaging for him in the beginning but now things are becoming bleak and repetitive with no silver lining in sight. I’m sure that’s not what you want to hear but you’ve had to consider it at some point.

Hi, thanks for the insight. The same thoughts actually crossed my mind, esp when he won’t reply during the weekends. But, he makes up for it and makes an effort to reconnect. I guess starting a relationship with someone is really a risk. He confirmed that he’s visiting me in January. Let’s see where that goes.
