Boyfriend broke our closet door out of anger and blames me?

We have two big dogs that play in our room from time to time. A couple months ago my boyfriend hit the closet door and semi-broke it. It was still functioning but any amount of pressure would have damaged it beyond being functional.

So a couple nights ago he tires to "fix" the closet door by screwing in a screw tighter and he insisted that I keep the closet door closed because the dogs would run into it and damage it. A couple days later I kept it open so he comes into the bedroom, looks at the door and literally bodyslams the door off of its hinges.

He now expects me to pay for it because he calls me irresponsible for keeping it open. Mind you, he doesn't realize that he keeps the closet doors open from time to time as well.

Now this whole issues has escalated into me wanting to move out and dump his ass.

So is it my fault? Am I supposed to live in constant fear if I don't adhere to his every beckon call?

No. It is most definitely NOT your fault.

It sounds like he has some much more deeply-rooted issues if he's being a huge a**hole over a door that HE broke and then tore off its hinges.

Have a talk with him about what the actual problem is. And if the actual problem IS the whole door dilemma, then damn. Tell him he needs anger management, or kick him to the curb.

He broke that door because he has anger issues & lacks control. Now he wants to put it off on you and not own up to what he did.

No, you should not be afraid of someone you live with. This is an unhealthy relationship. Get out while you can & while you know it's wrong. If he's going to explode over closet doors, what is he going to do when there is a serious issue?

Get him to take anger management classes...or dump him and move out. If he can't get his anger under control, it could possibly escalate to hitting YOU. And you should never be afraid of your partner..if you are, that's unhealthy

That's what happens when you live with The Hulk "Hulk Smash!" but seriously though leave him if he doesn't control his temper, I don't believe that he will become abusive because of this but only you know him and if he is/was abusive or aggressive towards you, you should leave him NOW.

I would leave him, and then once you kick him out you can say. Don't let the "door" hit ya on the way out. :D

I agree with dumping his ass. He has problems, not only with controlling his temper, but being responsible for his own actions and blaming others for his choices. Neither one makes for a good mate.
