If my significant other asked that of me, there would be no discussion, she would be out in the street instantly. I would kick her from my life the way you remove a dead useless limb.

The only reason she wants to open it up is so she can cheat without guilt.. Chances are she already has options lined up, if not already getting fucked by someone else. Same for when she says "we need to take a break". Any time a woman has said that to me I just kicked her to the curb..

Men don't fall for these..

If she was a girlfriend I´d tell her it´s better to end the relationship because I allowing me to openly get in contact with other women is something she´ll regret since I wouldn´t use to get sexual experiences but find a substitute for her.
If she was my fiance I tell her that it would be a dealbreaker to the marriage and I´d ask her how important it was to her. Because if she demands an open relationship I´d cancel the marriage or I won´t show up to and tell all friends and family behind her back to not come either.
If she was my wife I´d try to fight for my marriage at first but if she demands an open relationship I file for divorce.
The reason is I don´t have a deep interest in sex if I ever have a relationship with a woman it´s not going to be for sex but to have a partner in crime to share life with.

I said that this would be the end of our marriage if she goes ahead with her other guy. She anyway went ahead and that was the end of our relationship, though the divorce is still in process now.

Looking back it was not the worst thing that could have happened. After 20 years I found dating a thrilling experience and I'm with a wonderful woman now.

Every relationship I've been a part of, I've been cheated on and it never once lead to the end of the relationship, so I would be okay with it. In fact, I kinda like it. It turns me on, so I would be 100 fine with my SO wanting to open the relationship. so long as it isn't with my friends or pregnancy. Those are the deal breakers.
