Is it wrong to call your partner your wife or husband when y'all aren't officially married?

I don't just mean to each other but I mean to others, is it a throw off or just wrong to do so if y'all are still boyfriend and girlfriend? Cause who jumps into a relationship without believing you are going to marry that person someday so technically as far as you know, they are your wife or husband just future, so would it be wrong to use these words when mentioning each other to others?

I think this can be fine depending on the context. For example my girlfriend is pregnant and when she was at the ultrasound with me recently the doctor referred to me as her "husband". Neither of us corrected her as the main point is the role as a partner and future father here and not the legal relationship status.

Not in everyday life. However, if you are applying for a mortgage for example and there is a field for marital status you must fill that on truthfully to avoid adverse consequences on your contract.

I think if there are witnesses and some sort of formal ceremony, then it's fine. But otherwise, no I think it's very misleading. Because there there are a huge amount couples who think they are going to last forever, the majority of which are obvious, inevitable failures. So if all those people were to call each other husband and wife that it would further make the meaning of those words weak.

Yea but it's not everyone, it's just me and my partner, which id do all the proper steps to keep a healthy relationship, I would understand how weak it would make it if someone with an onlyfans does it for example but I believe if marriage is the last step required, it wouldn't be too misleading right lol

It's misleading because you're calling yourself married even though you literally are not. Putting a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship on the same level as a marriage relationship is just devaluing.

Maybe if she was a friends with benefits it would be devaluing but if it's a partner you see a future with then, I don't see how it's devaluing if the connection is there, all it's missing is a paper and a ceremony, if that's what a marriage means to you then I don't know what to tell you, I don't agree with it but thanks for sharing I guess
