3.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Can they be acquaintances? Sure. Colleagues. Yes. FRIENDS - as in, hanging out with each other alone on a regular basis by choice? Not if the guy is single and heterosexual (with very few and rare exceptions), and the girl is even remotely attractive, and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you.
This is not the fault of women - men are simply incapable of platonic relationships with attractive women they are close to if they are single. Sure, a guy who is already in a happy, healthy relationship can be just friends - though he probably won't be for other reasons - but not single straight guys.
Don't believe me? Offer your single guy friend casual sex (tell him you are lonely and are dying for some sex) and see if he turns you down, like a true platonic friend would. Then you'll find out the truth.
by the way, dozens of women who have gone on interview podcasts, who believed that they really had a platonic guy friend, have done this on camera - calling the guy on speaker phone. Every single guy immediately agreed to smash. Because of course they did.00 Reply

Yes even if you’re physically attracted ! most of my female friends are attractive women in my eyes but I’ve set myself straight as they have a personality that better matches with me as a friend. Ruining the friendship would be a shame as it’s not that easy to get good friends. If one was to say phone me up like in those videos claiming men and women can’t be friends, I must say if I was single I would be tempted but would also decline. You can meet women everywhere but ones you actually get along with platonically not that easy. If I was to agree I’m sure I would end up regretting it.

+1 yIt depends how much desire is involved and how much self inhibition you have if you do meet somebody that is very attractive. I would say yes, I can be just friends with a guy, cause I don't base my mental affections for others, on their romantic value or romantic desirability to me, but a man that only talks to women he wants to date, might be incapable of being just friends with a female.

Yes and no. One always ends up having some sort of attraction for the other and they will some how manage to interfere with whatever relationship you have going on.

+1 yYes, but it's not that common where both a girl and boy do just want to be friends - not push it any further. I am like that and will not befriend a girl I'm into, since it's no longer a friendship. I make my intentions known from the beginning for either too

Anonymous(18-24)+1 yYes definitely. Some of my best friends are girls. I used to have a crush on one of them but that didn't work out. Anyways I think I've found someone else now and hope that goes well. But yes I repeat men and women can indeed be just friends. I am saying this as someone from a so-called third-world conservative country.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 ySo long as they actually have friendly motives. A woman can't say she wants to be my friend and then exploit my gender when she starts feeling lonely. That's being manipulative and selfish. Friends don't do that.

- +1 y
@midnightmoon05 We've been shopping, yes. She mostly cleans and keeps stuff looking tidy.
- +1 y
That’s the job of cleaning services. What do you mean by being her friend?

@midnightmoon05 What is a friend if not someone who comes round every week to clean your flat?
- +1 y
How many friends of yours come around clean your flat? Aside from her?
You pay her.
So she works for yiu.
I am trying to understand what you mean by her also being your fiend.

Because he knows that if he doesn't stay with you, he won't get close to your sister. He's using you, essentially
Most of my friends are women
