Kissed my coursemate’s housemate while drunk and said I wanted to go on a date. Realised that I didn’t want to while sober. What should I do?

Nottoxic
Was on a night out for my coursemate’s birthday with her and a bunch of her friends. Ended up getting quite drunk, as did my coursemate. Was dancing with a group of her friends, particularly though one of her mutual friends who I had talked to earlier in the night and was interested in.

Around this time, I saw my coursemate’s housemate stood on her own (she hadn’t really been drinking), so I went over to talk to her. One thing lead to another, we end up kissing and I stupidly said in my drunk state that I wanted to take her on a date, which she was onboard for.

As soon as we stopped kissing, my coursemate came over and asked if we were both okay. Realised basically straight away that I had made a mistake.

Two days after the night out, the housemate messaged me on Instagram asking how I was. Since the night out my coursemate has seemed off with me (we usually message very frequently, however she seems different in her messages lately).

Don’t want to upset my coursemate by dating her housemate and I also don’t want to hurt the housemate by rejecting her, but I understand there isn’t really a win-win in this situation. I feel like I’m probably making a bigger deal out of it than it is but I am very close with my coursemate and genuinely consider her one of my closest friends, I really don’t want anything to come between that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
