Is this an appropriate way to contact someone, or does it sound "stalker-ish"?

This last summer I met a cool lady while hiking in a National Park. We talked for about an hour and she told me about her life, and what kind of business that she owned and operated. Similar to the type of work that I used to do. We did not exchange contact information or names. But I looked up her business based on what area that she said that she lived in and of course it had her name and photo, etc. Since I see that she is on the same social media that I use, do you think that she would find it weird that I looked up who she was and contacted her on social media?

Not weird at all. She might be impressed that you would make the effort to find her. Go ahead and contact her. Might work, might not. But you won't know unless you try.

but also, becoming more common nowadays... lol

if she didn't exchange or gave you her contacts or personal information though... maybe that's why because she didn't want to be contacted?

Well the conversation never got to that point, of exchanging personal information. It might have been fine with her.

GaG is the only social media I have, so I'm not caught up on the etiquette of IG or FB. Is getting blocked the worst that can happen? If so, my opinion is that you should reach out to her. Call it a "missed connection".

If she asks you how you got her name and contact info, be truthful. A lie will make you sound like a creep.

@TrueConfection Yeah I am pretty good with internet searches. So it didn't take me too long to find her and the business that she runs. That's my concern. I don't want to sound like a stalker for "looking her up". However she might think it is cool that I took the time to find her online?

She might be flattered. I don't think you should tell her you're good at internet searches and it didn't take you long to find her. How you explained it the first time was best and sounded like you are just interested in talking to her again. Any more than that will be too much.

@TrueConfection OK I took the leap and messaged her. I simply stated who I was from that trip without saying anything about how I found her on the 'net. She's a pretty bright lady so she'll remember me. We'll see if she replies back.

I don't see it as stalker-ish behavior at all. If you want to contact her at social media, you can do that. Just say hi to her and see how it all goes from there.

I wouldn't share the photos right away; I'd just casually say hello and ask her how she's doing first.
