Do you believe in once a cheat, always a cheat?

Do you think that someone can turn over a new leaf once they enter a new relationship, or do you think that if they were a cheater in their past relationship (s) they'll likely do it again no matter what feelings they might have for their new partner?

I'm unsure. Maybe some people can change depending on the circumstances and why they cheated before, but a big part of me also thinks that if they were sneaky enough to do it previously, then they are just that way inclined... and once a certain opportunity arises again, they won't be able to help themselves.

I believe in needs, situations and available solutions.

In general, if someone cheats all the time, then yes, I would say this person probably will cheat also in future relationships.

But...

There is one thing not many people take into consideration. It's an answer to the question "why".

Let me tell you a story. One of my friends was married. There was a time when his wife was fighting cancer. They lived on the edge for three long years, not knowing what would happen and how long they would be together. As a military person, my friend couldn't always be with his wife. He wasn't deployed to Iraq with his unit but still had duties at the base. And one time, it happened. A compassionate female mate who listened to his worries and offered something more than only a shoulder to cry on.

It happened once, and he never ever talked out of duties to this female mate. Did he do a good thing? No. Does it mean he will cheat again? I personally don't think so. His wife recovered, and they divorced ten years later because of totally not related reason.

He had a need and an opportunity. It just happened, not because he didn't love his wife, but because he was suffering so much.

But I'm one odd witch. I believe in emotions and situations. I believe in words and thoughts. I believe in people, even if they can hurt us as hell. And I believe in reasons which should be heard.

If they were un an actual relationship and not a situationship where the boundaries of the relationship were unclear and they step out then no I don't think they will stay unfaithful. It's highly improbable.

No matter what that person will always be considered a cheater , cuz they chose to cheat in the first place. So the question is , Will they choose to cheat on you? Cheating is a selfish act period , so it’s best to try to find out why they cheated in the first place. If they admit it was wrong , then more than likely they won’t do it again , if they feel they were justified for their actions then that’s something you should really reconsider , usually people that can’t admit they were wrong are people you should stay clear from because they always think they are right and never wrong , they point fingers at someone else before pointing fingers at themselves first

If a person is such a lowlife that they cheat on their SO, then even if they don't cheat on anyone again, they will probably "cheat" in other ways. Personally, I believe if you cheat once, that will be your go-to move for the rest of your life. Can people change? Sure, it is possible, just not probable. Besides, if you find your partner cheating, or know a person that has cheated on someone, will you ever really trust them? I would not trust them with anything. Even if say a friend was cheating on his SO. I would never again trust them with anything. if they can do that to someone they care about, they will definitely screw over someone that they don't.

It's a 50/50 chance they will or they won't that's the sad part is if you accept them back.

It's 100% chance that that's all you ever think about and I don't call that really a relationship I call that just no good they had a chance they blew it let it Go

Nah, people can change, most are just set in their ways and have habits that are hard to break.. Some people cheat once in a moment of weakness and never do it again.. And then you have people with deep rooted issues that never resolve them, so they don't get to ever change..

Yes, I do believe that once a cheater, always a cheater. I don't believe that people can change that much. I see being a cheater as a flaw. Sometimes you can't correct your flaws.

Yes, people change. I changed. After I saw what I did to my ex, I decided to be alone. I was single for 2 years. I decided I will not hurt anyone anymore.

Our whole justice system is built on the fact that people can change and learn from their mistakes. There will be some people who will always cheat but I'll judge case by case

No. I cheated once. At the end of a terrible abusive relationship. I still didn't like it afterwards because even though I didn't care about my ex anymore at that point it was my own morals I betrayed.

It depends. Did they cheat when they were young and immature. We all do stupid shit when we are young.

I believe that only a small part of them might regret it and won't do it again but usually a cheater is a cheater...
