So, there's this girl whom I've known for twenty years. We met in second grade when we were in the same class. Over the course of primary school we never hung out much and she left in sixth grade as her parents moved for work (I went to a huge school that served K-12). We lost touch for all of secondary and reconnected on Instagram in our early 20's. We recently met up when we were finally in the same city at the same time. Ever since reconnecting on Instagram we've been wanting to meet up but were never in the same city at the same time and travel restrictions made it impossible. We spoke on and off from about 2018 to 2022.
During our meet up which happened close to her birthday, I got her some nice chocolate and a card seeing as we haven't seen one another in fifteen years. We reminisced about our primary school years, who's doing what now, the drama of our separate teenage years, what we were doing as adults etc over dinner and wine. We spoke from about 7pm to 1am. I learnt that we had a lot in common: We both hate change, we both like Kygo, we both like parties and there were many times when we both said: "That's what I was thinking". Also she broke up with her boyfriend a few months ago.
I tried to fight it but I think I am falling for her. She's beautiful, she lives life to the fullest and she's one of the kindest souls I've met. I felt that when we were talking over dinner and I don't like being at war with my own feelings. There are a few problems though 1) Currently we don't live in the same city but I'm moving closer in a few months. 2) Weirdly, when we were speaking that night, the laughter and conversation didn't end but now our conversations don't last as long, mind you when we met, she was on vacation and now she's in a different timezone 3) I'm terrified of telling her how I feel because I've known her for so long and I'm not really good at vulnerability.
Currently most of our interactions are jokey and over Instagram.
