Should I tell my ex situationship how I feel about him?

We where on and off in a situationship for about 6 years, i had a formal boyfriend in that time period that we broke up, I recently came back to our hometown and saw him, he has a girlfriend now but says he isn’t happy with her and he es going to brake up with her. He also said he was going to visit me where I live. I’m at a point where I want a serious relationship, our connection is undeniable but I don’t know if he’s at that stage. His current relationship is as if he wouldn’t have one, he said he is dating her because he got bored of going out and it was my fault because I left, that my timing was the worst. Should I tell him I want something serious and tell him that if he doesn’t want to id like to be friends or should I just let it be?

As someone who went through several miserable failed situationships I'd say go for it... But you should make sure the girlfriend is out of the picture first. No reason to hurt her in the process, if he still feels the same he'd do the right thing
