How to deal with a friend who always wants to talk on the phone? do you like talking on the phone?

maybe it’s just me but I can’t sit and converse on a phone for hours when I have school, a job and responsibilities to take care of.

Ugh, I feel you. Talking on the phone for hours is just not my thing. I'd much rather chill in person if we've got time to hang.

With my friend who always wants lengthy phone calls, I've had to be straight up. I was like "look, I get you like chatting but I can only do so long before it kills my vibe."

Now I've set clearer boundaries, like I'll chat for 30 mins max and then say I gotta bounce to do homework or whatever. Usually after that he gets the hint.

If he keeps pushing for more time, I just tell him my schedule is packed and to hit me up about plans to link up in person instead. We can have better quality conversations face to face anyway.

Don't be afraid to communicate what works for you. A real friend should understand you've got responsibilities and not take it personally. Phones are convenient, but nothing beats relaxing together no screens.

But hey, if you do end up on a call, at least you can play games or something on another device to keep distracted! Balance is key.

Couldn’t agree more on the social battery!! It gets drained after unnecessary lengthy convos! As an update, I tend to just stop answering texts so quick too. Because I’m simply busy with school, work and just life! And if they’re not trying to call me, it’s daily texting with unnecessary follow ups when we don’t have to text every day either. People like to text everyday but if it’s not substantial conversation and it’s only asking how I’m doing every 5 mins, then I really don’t want to talk lol!

Maybe try telling them straight up "hey I'm busy with my stuff, we don't need to chat daily if we ain't got nothing to actually say." Give them shorter replies too so they get the hint conversations should be more spaced out.

Don't be afraid to just let some texts go unanswered if you crunched for time. Real friends will get you don't always have bandwidth. And if they starting complaining or acting too needy, well then they trippin!
