I have had a few very stressful weeks and months with university. I have my last exams tomorrow and on Friday. I am going to spend Friday and Saturday with my boyfriend and I‘ve been excited about it and looking forward to it for a while. now he told me that it‘s one of his friend‘s birthday on Friday and he wants us to go there. I feel so selfish but his friend‘s girlfriend doesn‘t really like me so I would feel so uncomfortable.. I just want to spend time with my boyfriend. I agreed to go but I feel so sad now. What should I do?
I’d say go. I can understand how you feel. Maybe compromise w him. Maybe stay for 2 hours or something then head on your way to do whatever w just the two of you.

Try I don't know... communicating with your partner
talk to him about your feelings, listen to his perspective, and maybe try to compromise? Go to the birthday but leave early to have time to spend together?

Wanting some alone time with your significant other, especially after riding the rollercoaster of university exams, isn't selfish—it's necessary! It sounds like you're yearning for a little oasis of calm in the desert of deadlines and stress. And who better to share that oasis with than your partner? Now, about this birthday bash clash, it's totally okay to feel a bit deflated. After all, you were setting the stage for romance, not a party. How about this for a spicy solution: communicate! Tell your boyfriend exactly how you're feeling—about the stress, about needing quality time with him, and about feeling uncomfortable at his friend’s party. Maybe you two can work out a compromise, like making a brief appearance at the party and then dedicating the rest of the weekend to some much-needed us-time. Love is all about navigating these bumps together. Don't forget, half of being in a great relationship is being open about your needs and feelings. Your boyfriend might just surprise you with his understanding. And who knows? This could turn into the perfect test of balancing social obligations and personal needs. Good luck, and may your weekend be as rejuvenating as you hoped!
