People have changed the way they view relationships, is there still hope?

I see a lot of people opting for the 'single' life for both men and women. Clearly there is a great drift between men and women and the wants of each.

I fall more on the traditional side, not completely but for the most part I am conservative in my beliefs when it comes to family and marriage, but I am starting to see why the splitting is happening and the traditional " family, marriage etc" circle is starting to shrink and women like me who want those things are less likely going to get that.

Are we just to demanding in the things we want and expect from one another that we just dont bother trying? Is staying faithful to 1 person just too hard?

The bottom line is that women have made sex too cheap and marriage too expensive and risky for men. I'll explain.

Marriage for men today is a very different thing than it was for our fathers and grandfathers. Half of marriages end in divorce, women file 80% of them and men typically get screwed in divorce court and child custody settlements. Put yourself in a man's shoes and ask yourself if that is an appealing proposition.

And divorce aside, even a stable marriage today is much less appealing to a man than it was decades ago. Back then, a man would work hard all day and look forward to coming home to a home cooked meal and a relaxing evening with his family in a home that has been well cared for during the day while he was at work. Today's husbands/fathers come home to a wife who has also had a stressful day at work and a home where all the chores still need to be done. He'll probably have stop on the way home from work to pick up the kids from daycare while his wife stops at Pizza Hut to pick up dinner. And instead of a relaxing evening, he'll be working on chores. Weekends are spent doing all the chores that in the past would have been done during the week while he was working. That's what marriage looks like today for good men.

Add to that the fact that sex is easily available without commitment, unlike in the past when a man would have typically had to get married first. Sex was one of the rewards for a man for getting married. It was a carrot, so to speak. That carrot is no longer a factor.

So yes, relationships have changed, and not for the better, for either sex. Women have shot themselves (and men) in the foot.

Some men got all those things in a wife, but not all. That was the ideal, but not all women were ideal then either. But the important thing to recognize is, that ideal was what women strived for back then. Few women strive for it anymore, and men who want those things in a wife are considered misogynists today.

Anon... I agree with what you have said. The consequences of this change are significant for our society. Let's be real for a minute and realize that much of what men used to do was geared toward attracting and retaining a woman. That is, men went to college, maybe grad school, started in a basic job, worked their asses off to increase salary and title, with an eye to being attractive to women. Men in years past understood that if they worked hard, checked the boxes, found a good woman; they had a chance at a decent marriage and family. This is no longer the case.

Today, women will initiate divorce 80% of the time and 90% if she has a bachelor's degree or higher. Our culture is so pro-divorce that women regularly post TikThot s about "It's ok to divorce the good guy". The "family courts" hugely incentivise women to divorce, which is a huge DISINCENTIVE for men to get married.

Nowadays women feel entitled to have promiscuous sex in their 20s and then expect to be loved and given title of "wife material" after all that when she's become, for lack of a better term, old and used up by other men. I hear where you are coming from but if you look deeper into why a women feels she should sell herself so cheap you might find a broken link within her family. I think fathers need to be more present in their kids lives when it comes to discipline, girls act out by being sluts and boys act out by getting involved in criminal activity. There needs to be stronger family roles. In real traditional homes this issue with daughters becoming sluts is almost non existent because the family are strong and supportive. But most traditional people are married by 25, so the pool size for someone traditional of your age is pretty small now. We do not all experience life the same way and there is no standard age for marriage in life if there was we’d all be marrying by 25 but we don’t, others marry by 45. The most important thing is that you’ve married the right person for you and that you want marriage.

you look at the stats but still there’s always people who deviate from the stats like your one of the examples you married before 30 but the stats said people from your country marry at 30 on average. It’s because we are all very different and we will not have the same life experiences, unfortunately you actually don’t get your wants met instantly you get them met when your fate decides it, if you’re religious you get your wants met if the God you serve’s decided the time is right. This even applies in terms of tradition, no matter how traditional you are if you are the kind of person who wants marriage you will only get it when the time is right, and you can never be sure when that time will be because none of us can predict the future accurately. I played the role of 'wifie', cooking for him, cleaning, respecting, loving, even showing I can be a great mom. I spent time getting to know his family and friends and even helped him in some financial way even though we weren't living together. He used to tell me about the whole feminism crap all the time and we spoke about politics but I just felt that I was bringing my part and he wasn't. He decided to end it... Well it's just my opinion on this but this is not the 1800's. I get that there are gender roles. But in the modern sense those lines are VERY blurred. My personal opinion is at our age what makes it so hard is EVERYONE carries baggage at this age. To make things worse people are much more judgmental at this age. Yeah I understand. I follow a few American Pod casts that talk about this exact thing... The concept "a man should spoil his woman" is also an issue. I know. I've been accused like 6 times. I was arrested for a dui after getting fired again. While I was in jail I had nothing else to do but read the Alcaholics Anonymous Book. I've read it before, but this line finally made sense to me. All those girls who accused me are sick. They are suffering. If I hold Resentment it makes me sick too. I was sick for a long time. I hated these women who ruined my career and laughed about it. Until I realized how sick they were.

@CriticalCatDad I feel for people like you who have lost hope and you have all right to feel tht way. I had a child really young with a guy i thought was good but ended up a drug addict, thief, cheater etc. It was my fault for being gullible but I got an incredible, smart, beautiful daughter from it. Yes his mom pays child support (almost nothing) but I have never with held him from seeing his daughter. He moved overseas and got married and had more kids he can't afford. I was also left screwed because my court system wouldn't allow me to claim financial help because he was out the country. I would have been screwed too if his mom didn't step up and help. I spent thousands on lawyer fees just to get her a passport as its a law that both parents need to be present to apply and since he wasn't here my only option was to get a lawyer. After 8 months the judge decided to grant me full legal custody which would allow me to get any documentation done for my kid. I never asked for it but they gave it due to the dad not being there. After I got the passport her dad all of a sudden gave a crap and wanted her to visit him... Again I never withheld her from him but then i got threats from him that he will take her from me and when she's 16 she can go live with him etc... still didn't stop him from seeing her and still he doesn't pay me a sent. Now I ask you, what do you think is fair, since I am raising our child all by myself and still have to deal with the crap. I never took advantage of the system but I still get screwed. How many fathers walk out on their families and their responsibilities to provide and protect? In my country most African families dont know who their father even is.
