Wasn't commitment beneficial for us even during the Stone Age?

Present-day if a woman had a couple live-in bfs, got pregnant by one of them and a break-up happens, she's a single mother with less chance of finding another suitable man for commitment. Ok so she'll survive but her value has dropped since she couldn't get a man to commit and the child is raised in a broken home.

Now if it were during the Stone Age and she couldn't find a mate providing for both her and her offstring (she screwed with the equivalent of a modern-day serial monogamous) then both she and her offspring were left to die, out in the wild. Basically failing to secure a mate would be a death sentence for her. So even then, it was never beneficial for the woman to fail in her mating process. The genders benefit differently, always been that way and always will be. We don't score anything by having a bunch of hook-ups nor being a serial monogamist.
