I am going to write this with a little help of MR./Or Mrs. Google (No sexism lol)

So now you know we have two Eids, the first one is :

Celebrating Eid, What is That?

I already done a take about it , what about the current one Abd?

Here we go:

Eid al-Adha (Arabic: عيد الأضحى)

Eid - عيد: It is an Arabic word that literally means a hopefully repeated occasion/ as it is used to highlight everything that we celebrate as Muslims.

Al-Adha - الأضحى : "associated meanings "daylight… to appear, to appear conspicuously… sacrificial animal, to sacrifice." , Wikipedia

Eid Adha Mubark !
Eid Adha Mubark !

Eid Al Adha have many other names , such as

-The Greater Eid

- Kurban Eid

- Hajj celebration day

When is Eid ?

Based on the lunar Islamic calendar , it is on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah month in the Islamic calendar , this day shifts about 11 days each year on the Georgian calendar

Islamic Calendar
Islamic Calendar

what is the occasion ?

". It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command. But, before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God provided a ram to sacrifice instead." Wikipedia

So as you see, we are celebrating a miracle from god, but it is not just that, it about sharing the meat with friends, family and the poor.

Al Hajj:

About 2 millions this year
About 2 millions this year

"Hajj take place in a five-day period, starting on 8 and ending on 12 Dhu al-Hijjah, the twelfth and last month of the Islamic calendar. Among these five days, the 9th Dhul-Hijjah is known as Day of Arafah, and this day is called the day of Hajj. "Wikipedia

So , it is in time with Eid al Adha , as you see , Hajj have a really long story , I will try to cut it short:

"The present pattern of Hajj was established by Muhammad.[24] However, according to the Quran, elements of Hajj trace back to the time of Abraham. According to Islamic tradition, Abraham was ordered by God to leave his wife Hajara and his son Ishmael alone in the desert of ancient Mecca. In search of water, Hajara desperately ran seven times between the two hills of Safa and Marwah but found none. Returning in despair to Ishmael, she saw the baby scratching the ground with his leg and a water fountain sprang forth underneath his foot.[25] Later, Abraham was commanded to build the Kaaba (which he did with the help of Ishmael) and to invite people to perform pilgrimage there" Wikipedia

So that is the main story of Hajj , on the 10th day of Dhuu al-Hijjah , piligrams sacrifice too .

Animal Sacrifice :

-The meat from the sacrificed animal is preferred to be divided into three parts. The family retains one-third of the share; another third is given to relatives, friends, and neighbors; and the remaining third is given to the poor and needy.

To sum it up, there are a lot of guidelines for this, requirements too :

- Sheep , camels , cows

- Age should be more than 6 months

- Not carrying a fetus

- To be healthy

- The animal is not to see other animals getting sacrificed

- The animal not to be hit in a hard way to hurt it

- The throat should be slit in fast painless way is most important

So now these are the major Eid events , Eid Al Adha spans over three days Lets see what else of traditions that we do in Eid:

- chanting :

takbir out loud before the Eid prayers on the first day and after prayers throughout the three days of Eid, are considered essential parts of this important Islamic festival, kids usually enjoy this and do it in the streets .

See this cute little kid :)

-Clothing :

Men, women, and children are expected to dress in their finest clothing to perform Eid prayer in a large congregation in an open, so yes we do shopping for five days or more before Eid.

Spend da money

- Eid Treat :

We (usually the whole family do this )cook special sweets, including ma'amoul (Best served with Arabian coffee ).

Yummy

-Visiting Relatives/Neighbors:

Yes , we do that on every Eid, it is important to keep close to our families and neighbors and friends .

Happy to see each other :)
Happy to see each other :)

-Bonus:

In Eid (both of them ) , as a tradition, working men gives money to the children and females in their family.

Yes , children now have more cash than you !

Final words :

We have only two holidays to celebrate which are

- Eid al Fitr

- Eid Al Adha

As you have seen, celebrating always means to think about the poor , the kids and women , and relatives , it is there to bond us more.

May Allah bless you all <3

Peace be upon you <3
