Why would any parent (as "God" in Christianity is referred to Father) want their child to not have complete understanding or knowledge of the world?
Please do not answer with because "God" said so.
this is why you got to pick up the Bible and read it for yourself. you have to truly get to know God and I don't understand the reason why he says the things he say. because if you don't personally want to know him yourself there is no point in explaining to you why it's a sin when you living in it. and that includes myself and any and everybody. everything does and then said in the Bible has to do with all of our past. it is a past that many people have no idea of because the things that has been revealed and done in the past is that scary.
1. God gave them a simple commitment to not touch tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. God is not just our creator but he is also our father. he gave us an Earthly father which helped us to be born, he is our spiritual father when we do not have an Earthly father in our lives. by eating the fruit they were disobedient.
2. by them eating the fruit as well they cursed all of us. do you know where are menstrual period came from? did you not know that we were not supposed to have menstruation, or bleeding, or pain during intercourse let alone labor. that's the curse on us women. because of what Eve chose to do.
3. Now because Adam also ate of the fruit, he cursed the men too. This is why men are dying the way they are today. Because of what Adam did.
4. Also ever wonder why a lot of women hate men? And vice versa? Part of the curse. There would be animosity between men and women as is today.
5. Cain committed the first murder in history. And is the world's 1st murderer.
6. Abram committed adultery with the consent of Sarai - NOT GOD, and made the first idea to concubines.
7. Dinah was the first recorded rape victim, because of a rich prince's lust. so for everybody that wants to say how premarital sex doesn't lead to rape this is perfect proof of that. sadly the same thing is happening in Middle Eastern countries today in the 21st century.
Do anybody not see the chaos that stems from this? also most of our technology that we have today at a 21st century is nothing new. they have similar and far more advanced technology than we ever would have dreamed of in the past. or this was forbidden knowledge that was stolen from heaven. from the fallen angels that we called demons. they taught men astrology, astronomy, how to forge a weapon, how to make fire, etc. And now what are we doing with it? Making war with each other. this is why God wanted to keep us away from this. how is anybody going to truly understand how God works
if you can't even be obedient and understand your own parents because of your rebelliousness? God is no different than how you treat your own parents. if you're telling your parents what to do you're being disobedient. God works the exaxt same way. that's why he says to honor your mother and father in all things. so if your mother tells you to pick up your clothes you pick up your clothes. you don't give her any lib. but just because you have to honor your mother and father it doesn't give you your parents to write to try to rule you with an iron fist, either. hence why God even commands fathers to not provoke your children to anger or else they'll become discouraged. how many of us have grown up with a father who may not be emotionally outward towards us, we try to do things for them, and it's like it's never good enough for them? We grow insecure and feel like we're not worth living. or our dreams are meaningless.
or the many times the elders always look down on younger folks, when Jesus clearly said that we should not allow anybody to do that just because we are young. especially when we have a lot more knowledge. these are things that are biblically sound that a lot of people still don't understand.
everything that is in the Bible reflects our lives today, because it's no different. it is our past, our present, and our future. man can always try to change and erase our past, but there are many things in our lives that we can see in our ancestors lives in the Bible. the Bible is a record of our past.
and there are many historical and groundbreaking discoveries that we can see and utilize with the technology we have today and people still don't want to believe. and it's understandable to fear the truth and the unknown. It's Only Human Nature within ourselves. there are a lot of things as happening in the world including things in nature that is too unimaginative to think about. But it's happening. From hurricanes to abnormal occurrences in people, animals and our technology. not even including the strange things that is happening coming from our skies. all of these things things is nothing new as it's been prophesied thousands of years from our time. John foreseen us today and the technology we have. Saying metal birds in the sky. And what looks like metal birds?: Airplanes.
now how could John, a mere human, servant of the Lord, apostle, and a prophet was able to see modern day technology from a little less than two thousand years from the past? but yet people can go to psychics and mediums and believe them? and how can people believe science when a lot of things are even proven in the Bible? yet they are a lot of scientific discoveries that also compliments it as well but people want to claim how is bias? if we have so much knowledge how is that we're still killing, raping, lying and hating each other? and still doing all the wrong things. obviously we're not that smart.
My interpretation is that Adam and Eve were blissful in their innocence and naivety of the darker possibilities of human kind. They were like children who had lived in a garden of perfection and beauty their entire life.
You know how people will be really happy and then they'll be informed of horrific news that they never imagined possible? I think that's what the fruit of knowledge represented. God gave them the option of ignorance to the potential horrors of the world and with that ignorance, God would allow them to live in a perfect and blissful world.
But once they ate that fruit, they saw all the horrible stuff that could and would happen throughout history, and because they couldn't un-see/un-know such a twisted world, they were unable to regain that blissful and perfect life. God gave them a choice and they chose to "go down that rabbit hole" so to speak.
The world that God had originally given them was untainted by the world as we know it today. Seeing all of the horrors made them paranoid and if you see how they turned on each other and how their children then followed suit murdering and hating each other, those visions became self- fulfilling prophesy.
Because of pride and disobedience. They let the parasite thought of the serpent sink in, that they'll become Gods without God. also when they were asked about it God who is to blame, Adam said "it was Eve that YOU made". there man fell from grave. He was sassy enought to blame all his wrong doing on God. people out of grace tend to blame anyone but themselves for their choices. Also its not about "good knowledge" like science etc, it was the knowledge of sin. Humans were in an angelic state initially, when cunning was introduced in the world they started degenerating.
Initially humans' hearts and minds where all in allignment with the Divine Will. they were good, innocent, loving, empathetic etc. When sin aka narcissism was introduced in the world, death was introduced as well. Cause God didn't want to lets in get immortalised. Initially humans couldnt die cause they were by grace immortals. Now the earth we live in, is a testing arena to rebridge the lost relationship with God. what was lost will narcissism and disobedience, will be restored with obedience and humility. No non humble human will see the face of God. and the New Testament of Christ is the message one should follow to every detail to be a true disciple of God. and the ultimate commandment is Love God with all your heart power and soul, and your fellow human even your enemy as yourself.
and while sin brought distrust, isolation and silence, the great gap can be bridged mainly with one simple practice. (besides living by the will of God etc). prayer. the food of the soul. the nurturing power that builds humility and makes you a friend and relative of God.
and whoever thinks obedience is a bad thing in the case of God. who would you want to be obedient to? the all knowing, all wise, all loving omnipotent God that knows what's best for you and your soul? or the man hating demons and your own lower instinct passions? cause there is no true freedom without God. in this life you serve one of two masters, there is no middle road. either you are aware or not that you serve one of the two doesn't matter. the one wants to make you a God, the other wants to enslave your soul and share his hell for eternity.
Who is God?
The Holy Trinity. Father, Son, Holy Spirit. perfect community and Love itself. the Source of Life. The Truth and the Light.
So anyone who is fair in colour is God?
Or Sun light is God?
Or anyone speaking truth is God?
No God is one with three hypostases. and by saying Light i didn't mean the material light but the divine light that existed before time. also he is called in Christ's words the Truth, and Life. which are both true. the ultimate true is revealed not discovered. and also without Him there is no true and eternal Life. only functioning. if you want to study orthodox godly christian dogma you can study orthodox theology or in its more compact form the Nicean Creed, which describes what we believe in.
https://www.goarch.org/el/-/the-nicene-creed
Do you anything about the words Christ/God, and their origins
oh please be sceptical to your heart's content. its a healthy sign but also if you want to be honest in your research, start researching what orthodox christianity is all about. i don't deal well with "theories". christianity is all about living, and if you experience it you know first hand we ain't speaking about games here. stuff is real and brings real results and transformations in your life. May the grace be with you daughter of God, you'll find your way if your intent is honest. Good luck.
also if you are interested in ecclesiastic history there is plenty of literature out there to learn about ancient christian origins and communities.
Thanks :-) for the explanation
and two useful sources for christianity.

You are very welcome dear.
It's interesting that the original sin is often misinterpreted as taking a bite from the fruit of knowledge. It's not.
The original sin was man's complacency. God only told Adam not to eat the fruit from the tree - he never told Eve. Eve was told by Adam not to go into that section of the Garden of Eden.
When Eve brings back the fruits from the tree of knowledge, Adam recognized what they were, but didn't warn Eve. He wanted to see what would happen when she ate the fruit, so he said nothing. That's the real original sin - complacency.
she knew
The Fall
3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
You guys are wasting time over here. Its very clear from the scriptures that Eve knew what God told Adam because a man and His wife is one. And God did make Eve know that she is not permitted to eat from that tree because Eve herself to the serpent that God dont want us eating of this specific tree and He dont want us touching it either.
when i was in Peru i stayed in Arequipa in the south... i was staying with an orphanage. one night i had a dream and i was in the courtyard of a cathedral... and a menacing old voice riled against me... I WILL LIGHT YOUR LIFE UNTIL IT CULMINATES INTO A GIANT EXPLOSION! and there were other images... of catholic relics... the next day i toured a cathedral and i saw a photo that reminded me of the dream so specifically... and i asked... what is that photo of? he said... The Devil!
She had all the info about the tree and what is the result of eating from it and she told the serpent but women are easily deceived with words like you see today. Women like sweet words wether it is lies or true. Look at a woman and tell her sweet things about herself and her appearance and she will appreciate it greatly and want to hear more.
The devil said 'did God say dont est of all the trees of the garden?' And you know that is very cunny because he knew God did not say that but was just trying get the womans attention and not turn her off but if you should ask Adam that question he will also fall for that if He is not smart. Women are emotional and men are calculative. Most of the time.
@jake007 when i met the snake from the garden of eden it only looked at me. it didn't use words but so much energy in it's face... it came in a bolt of lighting SHOCK there it is! and it entered through the window and transformed into a lion or big cat and i put my hand on it's back and walked it into the house. it was an omen
you have to understand we're all on earth to be tested. Tested to see it we're worthy to be at God side and are as pure and good as he is. To see if our heart is really with god or not. It looks like you don't really understand the events of the story even though it's all in the Bible. But god told Adam and Eve that eating the fruit would cause them to die. People don't realize death to god isn't the same as death to us. God speaks of spiritual death which is judgement day when he will be judge, jury, and executioner. When most of us will be thrown into hell where our spirit goes to die. I was taught this a longboard time ago so all my facts might not be right, but something you should also understand is that God is all knowing. We have no idea why he does the things he does and never will until the lucky few get to be by his side. For us to understand what god does what he does would be like an ant trying to understand why we do what we do. Throughout the Bible you can see the way god explains things is like how you would try explaining something complex to a child. He uses objects and things we'd understand as comparisons. When jesus tries to explain heaven he explains it as like a wedding ceremony. Way off track, but the point I'm trying to get to is that, there's hidden meaning throughout the Bible. there's connections that are so easy to see, but so few actually see them. There's a bible verse to explain all your questions. The right person just never showed you. I believe god gives everyone the opportunity at some point in their lives to be truly close to him. Being all knowing I feel like he knows who among us would be children of his and who wouldn't be. There will be times where wolves in sheeps clothing will try to kill you as god as said.(spiritual death) those wolves in sheeps clothing could be me. Mormons, jehovad witness, etc. anyone who doesn't truly know god, and what he preaches, but tells you they do is a wolf in sheets clothing. God explains in the Bible that his people and his children are like sheep. Jesus is the Shepard who came to earth to find his lost sheep. (Parable about this in Matthew Or luke). However the wolves will be people who belong to wrong churches, which Jesus said there would a lot of, and try to turn gods people away from him by converting them to the wrongn faith. Yes there is a right church and a right religion. Finding it myself has been the complicated part.
It's just a story made up by old men.
Soul means will, mind and emotions. Do you have any of those? Spirit is what makes us self aware and ask questions that pertains our well being such as (why am I here?) and who made me. Why am I like this and why do I like this etc... And it is what we use when praying to God. Remember what when God breath Hos Spirit in the Nostril of man and he became living? The Spirit belongs to God but the soul is ours and many sell theirs to the devil for money and fame. You know them right?

It's an etioogical myth. Surely it couldn't have been wrong. If the fruit was truly the knowledge of good and evil, and Adam and Eve did not yet know disobedience was evil then how could they be held culpable?
They where warned what would happen in perfect detail
@Sabretooth Sure... But they had absolutely no reference for things like evil and death. How would they know death was something to be avoided?
@Matt-G I'm an atheist, but according to the text I see no reason to assume that the fruit is god. Everywhere throughout the text God is referenced as an outside being. Specifically El, the god of the Hebrews, later it is made clear that there are many gods (originally Judaism was henotheistic) but El or Elohim, was the best god.
Some think that the Garden of Eden story is an allegory for the agricultural evolution. I don't know if I believe this, but it is an interesting concept. theleagueofnerds.co.uk/.../ this is a brief description of the idea.
It is just simple God made these two Adam and Eve and gave the His nature to decide for themselves (free will), so they made their own decision to disobey God. Go's just wanted to know if they will chose Him over any other thing. But they failed. Hence we live in this failed world.
But God said to them after they were found guilty that the Woman's offspring will redeem her and crush the head of the serpent and the serpent will bite His heels. Which is why Jesus Christ came into this World through a Virgin to fulfill that. He crushed the devil with all the Miracles He did and at the end they nail His feet to the cross. But He arose on the 3rd day to prove God's victory over sin and death. John 3:16
Something can be right without being good and something can be wrong without being evil. So, just because they don't have the knowledge of what's good/evil doesn't mean they can't tell the difference between right and wrong. If you had a fruit tree and told me, the hobo living in your orchard, not to eat anything from one specific tree it wouldn't be considered evil to take from it (it'd be just wrong.)
@Blueberry_Spicehead That's totally absurd. Making things wrong that are not evil or harmful is just a control technique. Don't do it just because I say don't do it. If you don't follow me I'll torture you for ever. Oh, and make sure you give me 10%, or knock on lots of doors for me. It's a divine North Korea. Humans create gods for lots of different reasons. Te need to believe we will live for ever, the need to feel someone is in control when clearly no one is, the desire to control others, to create faux knowledge because obtaining real knowledge is hard and they are lazy.
@wagsingle would it be considered evil to walk up behind you and lick the back of your head? No. It is an absurd thing to do and in most cases entirely wrong to do, but not evil. If your parents tell you to clean your room then the right thing to do would be to obey them and clean, whereas the wrong thing to do would be flipping them off and not cleaning. None of these actions is evil by any means, but that doesn't mean they can't be wrong.
Either way, the point is that if their initial reaction to the fruit is to not eat it because they were told not to, and had to be convinced to do so, then they obviously knew it was wrong. They just didn't know what evil was.
@Blueberry_Spicehead @jake007
The tale very clearly depicts Adam and Eve as not having knowledge of good and evil. Evil in the bible is depicted as the disregard of God's law. If I commanded an infant to not cry, and then punished it for crying what sort of monster would I be?
They knew evil was to defy. They didn't know what else they could derive from it, or how deep it could go. They knew what they needed to. A six year old knows when he is told not to eat too much Haloweeen candy, he'd better not. But he doesn't care. He doesn't have to also know how to extort the candy shop owner.
Also, slandering God as a thug as a cop out was the same ploy used by the man who buried his talent. Not a good plan.
@ObscuredBeyond If they didn't have the knowledge of good and evil how do you think they did know it was evil XDDD
You're literally making things up at this point. There is nothing in the text to substantiate the belief that they knew some pieces of evil but not others. In fact the text specifically says you are wrong.
All of you are wrong... In the garden of Eden , God commanded both not to eat from the tree of knowledge. GOD gave humanity then , the free will to choose freely by (choice) . Eve chose against God's command to eat of the fruit regardless , tempting Adam who eventually choosing to follow. GOD told Adam that he was the head of the garden and if he wasn't satisfied with her and her temptations , he would give him another wife. But no , Adam was tempted to follow Eve instead. This was the birth of free will and choice for humans. Also because Eve didn't listen or follow God's command , feminism was also born. Today most all feminist are either athiest or non-believers... interesting !! They persistently hate men and GOD alike.
You're splitting hairs on definitions here. The fact is, they had a basic knowledge of what evil was to begin with. After all, they were already rationalizing one wrong to excuse another, when Eve was adding to what was said. They were only commanded not to eat. She added herself that he said not to touch it either. Adam wasn't tempted by Eve, he was there the whole time. He used her as a guinea pig. Which he also knew was wrong.
Eating the fruit didn't open their eyes in that sense. It was a culmination of their commitment to evil, which they'd already discovered. The fruit, however, committed the rest of creation to the curse they'd brought on themselves. From there, they realized just how much potential to pervert creation was at their disposal. THAT is the part their eyes were opened to. Which is also why their bodies became shameful to them.
@Sabretooth. Without feminism , there wouldn't be the media. Just plain news. What women are doing today , is what Eve did in the garden. All her male followers , are just a bunch of Adams. The tree of knowledge was mans knowledge vs God's knowledge , the choice to choose one or the other. She did , and guess who followed. Today she still chooses the same thing , guess who still following. Now guess who's not following ?
@ladsin: When a couple decides to fornicate on a date, is it always spontaneous? The buying of condoms, and the communicating about what to touch where during foreplay, suggests otherwise. The sex afterward is merely the final commitment to what was already in the heart. So it was with Adam's decision to eat the fruit. You cannot be that clueless.
And this is for that coward Stmarco, who tells me that I don't know what I'm talking about calling him chicken, even as he blocks me like a little bitch out of fear:
You know what I meant. And what I defend is more real and self-evident than anything by which you prop up your pomposity.
@ladsin: Commitment. It happens in the mind and heart first, and becomes an action second. It happened that way in the Garden. It's how things usually happen. (Mark 7:21) That is how I know you don't understand Genesis 3 at all. Adam was not deceived (1 Timothy 2:14.) So with what little knowledge of evil he already had (don't eat the fruit,) since through the Law we become conscious of sin (Romans 3:20), he already knew and committed to wrong. Eve was merely a sneak preview, since she was duped. But afterward, he became aware of many other kinds of evil. So quickly did he learn, his first defense strategy was to throw Eve under the bus. (Gen 3:12)
@ObscuredBeyond Two of those have nothing to do with Adam and Eve, and none of them have anything to do with Adam and Eve having some sort of pre-evil concept of evil.
You're obviously grasping at straws here because you can't admit that the tale doesn't make any sense as written. Have a good day bud.
The entire Bible throws out clues. You are simply refusing to see them. The only reason anything "doesn't make sense," is because you refuse to let it. To let the pieces come together. Because you want the ACCOUNT (NOT "tale") to not make sense, so you can dismiss it. For the SAME REASON that Adam ate, no less! Because you want to be in control of your life.
what evidence? Remember, no book is in it self evidence. Books only present claims of evidence that must be verified with sources outside that book. If you claim a book is the word of a god, you must prove that god exists (without relying on that book, since that would be circular reasoning) that the god exists. You must then prove he in fact inspired the book. The burden of proof is always on the person making a claim, not on the person questioning the claim.
@wagsingle. You sound like a bi-sexual litte atheist who's just , well , confused.!!
@wagsingle the "bisexual atheist" is "poisoning the well" as though there's something wrong with either.
So there's at least two logical fallacies.
@wagsingle. So your not confused? And your not bi? Are you not atheist?
@ladsin - obscured was right, you only looking for reasons not to believe and not reasons to believe. Meaning, you like that one student who goes to class not to learn but to teach everyone else. You should be humble and learn a little and stop looking for cheap reasons not to believe. It is clear that Adam and Eve were not kids, they knew what it means if The Almighty God says don't. God said don't eat it, don't touch, else you will die. They only did it because of their own selfish desires (Eve said it looked good and it is profitable), to be wise like God. The serpent said 'God knows when you eat it you will become wise like Him' and you will good and evil. So they were selfish and wanted to be like Him The Almighty.
@Amnichole88. 😊 !!
@ZjJaja well firstly there was no "Adam" or "eve" but I'll suppose that the fable was real for a minute. Does god want humans to be sheep? They should have obeyed because disobedience is wrong, but they didn't know it was wrong to disobey. How could they? If an officer arrested you for speeding, but there was no speeding sign how could you possible be culpable?
Its clear already ladsin. They knew it was wrong because God said it was and they knew they would die (be separated from Life) because God told them and they knew what dont means and what death means. Just accept that God us right and we (all human beings) are wrong. If you do that and put yourself in an attitude of humility and listen to what the Spirit of God (our inner witness) has to say then will you get the true message.
God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth
@ladsin if you pray and ask God to forgive your sins and you tell Him you forgive everyone who has hurt you, then tell Him to teach you the true message of the Bible and help you to understand it all. Always do this and ask Him to order your step and actions, words and thoughts too. Pray all that in Jesus Christ name. And you will see the difference between your perspective and Gods perspective.
@they had the had the knowledge of God and as Children of God and they knew to disobey their LORD was a thing not to be done. So they may not have had the knowledge of good and evil but they had the knowledge of God Almighty. And the words knowledge of good and evil should be studied very deep in order to understand what it actually means because the words tree does not mean a literal tree its all kinda symbolic. Like Eve represents Israel and Her seed Jesus Christ. The language of those days should be known and how words played too.
exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy
They may not have known the consequences and how it would look like and what the pros of disobeying God (doing what God said dont to) would be. Serpent said you will be like God and know all things good and evil (they did not know how that would feel either.) They were ignorant to some things but not to what God told them. And God did not lie to them either.
Like today we know what God says about those who reject His Son Jesus Christ (John 3:16 for God so loved the world, that He gave His only Begotten son that whoever believes (trust) in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life) as their Lord and Savior but how that will feel we dont yet know but we need to take Gods words serious and obey it. Dont wait to see before you believe but accept it and pray about it asking Him to explain to you.
@jake007 it has always been their destiny to face the wrath... this has been a prophecy for nearly 2000 years and we hit spot on in our times! we saw the sexual exchange take place in the 21st century! it was coming slowly... slowly then like an intense wild fire the whole of the earth was swept away into lusts! they want the children to be the same... sexual kids... even in my own youth not so long ago parents were so protective... now... not.
@Zj yes. I been struggling with them since I was born and when I decided to follow Jesus they said they won't allow me. I saw in my dream I was being chased by them (demons) and I was running away from them and a voice spoke to me while running that I should call Jesus Christ to help me and when I stoped running, they (demons looking like monsters with one eye) came close to me and I said 'in the Name Of Jesus Christ'. And they all changed from Monster to toys infront of me and I could kick them around like children toys. Just because Jesus came when I called and and He comes every time we accept God's instructions and call His Name by Faith (Trust in God Almighty) and defeats our foes.
The Christian God forbids many random things for no reason at all, things most Christians probably do all the time.
Leviticus 19:27 reads "You shall not round off the side-growth of your heads nor harm the edges of your beard." No bowl haircuts guys.
Leviticus 11:8, which is discussing pigs, reads "You shall not eat of their flesh nor touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you." No bacon sandwiches, no sausages, no pork.
Genesis 38:9-10: "Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother's wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother. But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the Lord; so He took his life also." No pulling out when you go balls deep then, or else you'll be punished, possibly by death.
Leviticus 19:28 reads, "You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the Lord." No tattoos.
Deuteronomy 23:1 reads (this is the God's Word translation, which spells it out better), "A man whose testicles are crushed or whose penis is cut off may never join the assembly of the Lord." Had your balls crushed, penis cut off by some evil bitch, or just had them surgically removed due to testicular cancer? You're not welcome in Church.
Leviticus 11:10 reads, "But whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable things to you." No shellfish.
Deuteronomy actually devotes two verses to this exact scenario: Deuteronomy 25:11-12.
"If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity." If your Husband is being attacked and you grab the attacker by the balls to save him, you should have your hand cut off.
He just sounds like a massive dickhead to me.
Boi you're quoting the Torah/the first 5 books of the OLD TESTAMENT. Let me give you non-Christians a few tips.
1: the "Old Testament God" is the same as the "New Testament God". God is unchanging therefore he is the same now as he always has been.
2: You're quoting rules that just don't apply anymore. When Jesus died, he got rid of all of those rules. For one, shellfish are fine because Jesus made all animals clean and fine to eat. The other thing about not being welcome in the church, that's old as well. Jesus welcomes all who are broken, no matter who you are, what you've done, or what's happened to you. That other thing was to prevent lust which is another sin. JSYK.
first of all that's due to demonic forces and people messing with witchcraft. besides generational curses that's why a lot of people ended up in that way. because the grandparents and ancestors went to soothsayers, mediums, and psychics. besides messing with astrology or horoscopes. that's the damaging of sin that should not be. now it's interfering and causing genetic mutations. plus he made it very clear that he would give them unto their own lust because they don't want to listen. but sadly I guess you fully don't understand that so-called gay feelings is due to Rebellion.
you say your a Christian, but you want to talk about following the Torah's rules as being outdated. and where are you getting this idea that Jesus wrote them over? he did not write them over. he said he came to fulfill the laws, not destroy them. first of all, be an example. and just go to show you was not paying attention who says what I was saying was referring to what you were talking about? I was speaking to the OP. you are the one that was being really rude instead of asking if I was referring to what you was talking about.
I'm sorry, it is because God said. And it's not because of the fact "He" said it. It's the fact that he told them it was forbidden to eat from that tree, but they said "fuck you" to their creator. You know, the one that gave them life. Hence, that is why, in the Commandments, another sin is not honouring your mother/father.
But really, it's a kick to the gut and a really great insult and a shit in the mouth, when you put so much care into an individual that you would do anything to keep them safe. Kind of like how a mother/father, who is actually caring and honest with their children, the ones they raise for 18+ years, the mother/father who essentially created you from nothing really, who you should give all your thanks to for them being the ones who decided to, give you life to begin with and that you would still be, for all intensive purposes, an unknown part of existence, if it weren't for them knocking boots.
Like it shows that you care the fuck less about them if someone that cares so much for someone that they stop and change every part of their life to accommodate your sorry ass, for the rest of their life really, so that you can become something of importance or something they can be proud of in their eyes, and then tell them, "I'll do whatever the fuck I want even if you don't like it." Yeah, it is your life, you are an adult and you have the gift of "free will", so you can do whatever the fuck you want really. But why not show some form of appreciation for the people and "Entity" that created you and a place for you to be you? Is that too much to ask really?
I don't care much about religion as much as I used to, since I think there are ulterior motives to religion and religions of all sorts are hypocritical most of the times, from what I've seen and from what their beliefs are suppose to teach the believers. But I will always believe in a "GOD". Whatever "It" is. I don't believe it's anything we know it as, but I believe it's some of everything we know it ass and more of what we can't fathom. But I'm not going to be ignorant and think that because I don't have solid proof, that there can't be. Too much we as humans can't comprehend and can't fathom to be ballsy and to have the audacity to think as humans, we know all.
I don't know.
But I suppose you can think of knowledge as the ego in its most gross state. Or as the point of contrast. In order to learn a lesson, and appreciate what you have in life, you need the freedom to go awry, experience pain, and come to a wakefulness through that. So in a sense, 'God' is giving us freedom through knowledge, pain and suffering. The tree of knowledge is just a metaphor.
Ego is not in itself a bad thing or a cause for suffering. But rather, how we use it to interact with the world. It seems any person who wants to deny his ego can only do it through passivity (or passive aggression), self denial, great effort, contrivance and sexual repression, all these natural desires finding expression through awry secondary means. Like walking on thin air, one has no grounding in physical reality. It should be noted that as soon as someone becomes judgmental to people who are 'evil sinners', one is in essence speaking from the ego anyway (hypocrisy), without love and compassion (which is supposed to be the essence of religious teaching), and seeing them as other, not to mention denying your own bad aspects in the process.
OR you could take a materialistic perspective, deny our spiritual aspect, and see how hollow (and pain laden) life is. The pain comes from feeling oneself as separate to the universe and everyone around him. To only acknowledge one's ego, or sense of self.
The third way is to see the material world as not something dangerous and a source of temptation, but irradiated by the spirit itself. It's a merging of the two.
"Christianity and the Old Testament both point to a definite event, as a result of which man has developed his inner life in such a way that he can make his existence in the world around him a source of suffering. Suffering is not inflicted on us by the world we perceive through our eyes and ears, the world in which we are incarnated; humanity once developed something within itself which placed it in a wrong relation to the world. And as this is inherited from generation to generation, it is still the cause of human suffering today. In the Christian sense we can say that from the beginning of the earth-existence human beings have not had a right relation to the outer world." Rudolf Steiner
The point is that life on Earth could be a joy and a bliss, not that something one aspires to in heaven by denying the bad aspects of oneself. Life is a serious work, and there are many opportunities for spiritual development. One can not avoid suffering, but there is much potential for joy, connection, love making, not taking oneself too seriously. These things become bad when they're simply egoistic.
God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden to give Adam and Eve a choice to obey Him or disobey Him. Adam and Eve were free to do anything they wanted, except eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2:16-17, “And the LORD God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.’” If God had not given Adam and Eve the choice, they would have essentially been robots, simply doing what they were programmed to do. God created Adam and Eve to be “free” beings, able to make decisions, able to choose between good and evil. In order for Adam and Eve to truly be free, they had to have a choice.
There was nothing essentially evil about the tree or the fruit of the tree. It is unlikely that the fruit, in and of itself, gave Adam and Eve any further knowledge. That is, the physical fruit may have contained some vitamin C and some beneficial fiber, but it was not spiritually nutritious. However, the act of disobedience was spiritually deleterious. That sin opened Adam’s and Eve’s eyes to evil. For the first time, they knew what it was to be evil, to feel shame, and to want to hide from God. Their sin of disobeying God brought corruption into their lives and into the world. Eating the fruit, as an act of disobedience against God, was what gave Adam and Eve the knowledge of evil—and the knowledge of their nakedness (Genesis 3:6–7).
God did not want Adam and Eve to sin. God knew ahead of time what the results of sin would be. God knew that Adam and Eve would sin and would thereby bring evil, suffering, and death into the world. Why, then, did God allow Satan to tempt Adam and Eve? God allowed Satan to tempt Adam and Eve to force them to make the choice. Adam and Eve chose, of their own free will, to disobey God and eat the forbidden fruit. The results—evil, sin, suffering, sickness, and death—have plagued the world ever since. Adam and Eve's decision results in every person being born with a sin nature, a tendency to sin. Adam and Eve's decision is what ultimately required Jesus Christ to die on the cross and shed His blood on our behalf. Through faith in Christ, we can be free from sin's consequences, and ultimately free from sin itself. May we echo the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 7:24-25, “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?
@Prof_Don The point is about innocence. Children know no better because they are innocent, just as the Bible describes Adam and Eve knowing not right from wrong. The story is obviously a fabrication, but even as mythology the only moral of the message is blind obedience. Even if you don't know why, you must still obey or else you will be punished with death.
Speaking of this whole thing, Lucifer had always despised and hated humanity, and it always depicted him as the one that is bad and jealous of humankind. Perhaps he had always believed and know that humanity was a big mistake and that it really don't make sense why they even exist and had been created, when his own creator's best and most loyal creations had already been created and existed. And the most insulting thing was being ordered to bow down to humanity's creation. Perhaps, he knew how big of a disaster, disappointments and failures that humanity will turn out to be and really just wanted God to reconsider his experiments that will eventually become failures and result in disappointments. He probably wanted to save his own father the heartbreak and disappointments on how humans are going to turn out to be, but instead he got the boot and kicked out of his own home.
And so he made it was entirely his goal at all cost to prove the point that humanity will be disappointments and fail. That they can be easily manipulated into doing anything somebody wants them to do by using the right ways and methods to convince and persuade them otherwise all to prove to his own creator that his creations are not completely as obedient or as "perfect" in his own image or likeness as his very own creator had expected them to be and so he set out to do what he did and he was successful at it. He did it, he didn't make them eat those apples. It was ultimately their choice to to do what he manage to convince them to do. He only showed them the door, but they choose to walk through it. Perhaps, Lucifer was trying to make his point to his creator "Father, did you just see how easy it was for me to trick them into doing something you don't want them to ever do or expect them to not do? They're only going to disappoint you and let you down, why won't you listen to me for once and trust me for once? I just manipulated them to do something you specifically told them not to do, and yet they did it anyway. I'm surprised at why you didn't even try stop me? Perhaps you are starting to have second thoughts about them? If you think they're bad, gullible and disobedient now from just this incident of eating from a specific tree in your garden, just wait. Because, you still haven't seen anything yet, because I know they are gonna completely mess everything up, including all of your hard work. I know they will eventually destroy and hate each other and all your other creations too."
God is someone displayed to be all knowing and all powerful, humans not so much. Maybe he knew we couldn't handle it, think of it this way
What was the world like at the start when in theory God created it and mankind was simple? Nice tranquil and God's creation of nature (including man) worked in unison
Now think what man has done to the world all the way up until 2017, the world is seemingly falling apart at its seams. War, hate crime, corrupt government & business, poaching animals to extinction, de-forrestation, pollution, as of late the biggest hurricane yet just a week or two ago.
Eating the from tree by proxy was allowing all of this to happen. I understand sin not just something that's bad, but something destructive and hurtful to either ourselves, others or the world in general. Something the one thing that supposedly an entity called "God" gave us which is life.
So the sin in question is the disobeying of God, someone that had never left Adam to stray and as a result we suffer earth's history and future as consequence
I don't see how humans were once nice but I will try and imagine.
Why did eating this apple ruin everything...
Why was the knowledge bad for humans? Why did God want humans to have less knowledge?
Warmapplecrumble it was never about knowledge. you think like that cause we live in an age that glorified and deified reasoning and square logical skills. the universe hides aspects far deeper than this. there are illiterate fishermen that commune so deeply in the grace of God that have wisdom that 1000 phds couldn't bring you. there is knowledge that Saves, and knowledge that is just useful. the Knowledge that saves is built only through a communion with God.
@Warmapplecrumble
What do you mean by "nice"?
Have you ever disobeyed the words of your parents or another authority figure and have things go terribly wrong whilst growing up?
Do you believe humans know everything now, and do you believe we could one day know everything there possibly is to know?
Fortheholidays no need for the tone my friend. she's a grown girl she can put two and two together. as for your idea of what sin is allow me a small differentiation here. sin is not an action per se, its more like a state of being. whatever an ungraceful person does, says or thinks, IS a sin cause it comes from an ungodly ground. we all sin, but certainly the grace of God puts you on good tracks, and after some years even your own people don't recongise you with that transformation... .
@levantine99 I never meant for it to cone off rude so excuse me. Questions are methods I use to get the person to see where I'm coming from. Kinda like math, if you do the working out right then everyone who uses it should get to the same answer, sorry again though. I totally agree with you but even to get into that state it takes intention, action and refinement. it's true we can get thrown out of our element but its up to us to catch ourselves and realign with God, ether or whatever else assumes that moral compass. We all sin but its the lack of focused actions which makes it so prevalent. Once again no disrespect @Warmapplecrumble I apologise
No offence taken, it's just a discussion
The answer is simple. Information is power. When you have information, you have a better ability to protect yourself or attack others. When others have information you don't or have information about you, they can use that information against you either attacking you or controlling you.
By eating from the Tree of knowledge the allegory is that you've lost your innocence and ignorance. Like a child who is always happy and doesn't have any responsibilities, ignorance is bliss. God was the parent and we are the children is the image here. Once we've eaten from the tree and gotten smart we have grown up and no longer need God to be our parent and we go out on our own and must care for ourselves.
That's the symbolism.
The reality is that the less you know, the easier you are to control and those who want to control you don't want you to know anymore because they understand you gaining information is power and that makes it more difficult to control you.
Look at science and look at religion.
Generations past almost everyone was religious. With advances in science technology and communication, we we now know more about the world and each other than ever before and with all that knowing is making more people into atheists and having mixed marriages or gay marriages etc...
In other words, the information that we have gained is giving us freedom which means that those who want to control us are finding a much more difficult or no longer can.
So the bottom line story in Genesis about eating the Apple and getting kicked out of the Garden of Eden is a parable that is propaganda by those who want to control you to tell you to not get smart.
Satan had rebelled against God and taken a bunch of God's angels with him. Satan told God that God's law was stupid and unfair, and that people would be better served by putting themselves first rather than other people first. Satan demanded a chance to prove that he was right. So God allowed him to set up shop on every planet in the universe, at one designated spot--the tree.
Adam and Eve happened to be the unfortunate couple that ruled our planet. By eating the fruit, they pledged allegiance to Satan and turned our world over to him. This allowed Satan to conduct his experiment, in which he intended to show the universe that putting yourself first produces better results. I trust that everyone can see that he has utterly failed.
So, to sum up: it was a sin, because the act of eating the fruit was symbolic of them casting a vote for Satan.
And regarding knowledge: there are some things that people would rather not know. I can say that I do not have knowledge of what it feels like to lose a child. That is knowledge that would bring me great misery, and I do not wish to gain that knowledge. The knowledge Adam and Eve gained, of evil, is exactly like this, because that knowledge brought them pain and misery. No wonder God did not want them to have that knowledge.
Hilarious, cause you made up so much stuff in this answer. lol. Prove me this from the bible and I will believe you. But you won’t be able to, because it’s all made up.
The part about Satan and the angles anyway
@Hotchoco333 I am happy to provide scriptural evidence.
Revelation 12:7-9 talks about the rebellion of Satan against God, and about the Devil and his angels being cast out of heaven. Just earlier, in Revelation 12:4, the very same dragon is spoken of as taking a third of the stars of heaven and throwing them down to Earth. Since in the very same passage it says that the dragon is Satan, and that his angels were cast out of heaven, it's fair to guess that the "one-third of the stars of heaven" actually mean "one-third of the angels of heaven," which means that Satan took one third of God's angels with him to the Earth. However, I didn't claim that, nor is that necessarily important; all that's important is that the Bible explicitly states that Satan and his angels are thrown out of heaven.
2 Peter 2:4 also makes explicit reference to God throwing "angels who sinned" out of heaven.
@Hotchoco333 In Job chapter 1:6-12, a conference in heaven is described, in which all of the sons of God present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also presents himself before the Lord. Given that no humans attended that meeting, and Satan did, it is very clear that Satan is the one who represents the Earth at this meeting. This strongly implies that Adam and Eve signed the Earth over to Satan when they ate the fruit of the tree.
Isaiah 14:12-17 says that Lucifer said in his heart that he wished to rule in heaven, and have his throne above the throne of God. This further supports the idea that Lucifer was rebelling against God's rule, and wished to set up his own rule. In Matthew 22:37-40, Jesus says that "love" of God and of your neighbour is the basis on which the entirety of the Bible and the Law of God is built; if Satan was rebelling against God, it is reasonable to suggest that he did not like this law of "love;" his act of starting a rebellion violated that law.
@Hotchoco333 Ezekiel 28:11-19 further supports Isaiah's declaration on Satan. Ezekiel talks about a being who was in Eden, who was previously an anointed cherub of heaven; based on what we already know, this is obviously Satan. The passage ends with Satan being "no more forever," which obviously hasn't happened yet, so this passage is a prophecy of things to come; but it still lends further light to the situation.
Romans 5:12-21 says that sin entered the world through one man--Adam. If Adam had the authority to bring the world under sin, then he was obviously the ruler of this world. It goes on to say that through one man are we saved--Jesus. Jesus is also a being of authority; through His death, He regained the world. Romans 8:19-22 adds more, saying that Jesus has not yet delivered the world from the slavery of sin, but will do so soon, and that Paul eagerly awaits that day.
@Hotchoco333 So put it all together and here is what we know.
When Adam ate the fruit of the tree, he allowed sin and death to enter the world; after his act, humanity was enslaved to sin, and Satan became the representative of the planet. Satan was in the midst of a rebellion against God's rulership of the universe, because Satan wanted a throne higher than the throne of God. God's law with which He ruled the universe said "love God" and "love your neighbour"--in other words, to put others before yourself--and if Satan had a problem with God's rule, it would be fair to assume he had a problem with God's law. And indeed, looking at how Earth's history has played out suggests that Satan believes in selfishness. Satan was clearly allowed to tempt the universe, as fallen angels were kicked out of heaven along with Satan.
And in the Garden of Eden, Satan was allowed to tempt Adam. The tree of knowledge was a choice between God and Satan. Adam chose Satan, and Earth's history resulted.
Actually the thing is that they were pure good so they didn't have any understanding of negative ideas and emotions anyway God to told them not to eat it because if they did they will die spiritually in order to know that knowledge of good and bad so he forbid them from doing but what God wanted is to make mankind on Earth then back to Heaven so he came up with the forbidden tree because if he didn't do that Adam and Eve will never have to go to Earth thus there will no need for the mankind called sons of Adam to ever exist so that's not what he wants he wanted both Adam and Eve and all of the humans to live in heaven so the only way he saw best is to let Adam in Eve go to Earth and populate then rewarding them by letting live in heaven for ever so the forbidden tree is just like a father telling you don't eat that sweet little peace of Candy on the table until I come back he already knows that you will eat it actually his waiting for you to eat it because he knows he will for give you if did and you will gain knowledge from it and you will learn the lesson he wanted to realize anyway some things just needs to look at the bigger picture to understand them or else they will never make any sense no matter how you look at them
Disassemble the question, an apple wouldn't be a fruit from a tree of knowledge now would it. So it might be safe to remove the physical apple from the equation, like wise the physical act of having a solid peice of food lodged in ones throat, so what are we left with. Adam and Eve took some thing from the knowledge of god, but what? The most of the story after is god can tell that adam and eve have this knowledge and attempt to hide from god. Can we assume then that god in this passage WAS the tree of life?
I don't think that the sin was to learn, but to hide the learning. If you think of an ecosystem whithin which there is a knowledge tree, adam and eve would have had to contribute to the environment, thats the natural way, but they HID their knowledge, whatever that was, from the "Lord the giver of life" from a Theological stand point that is an affront to god who is perfect and created man in his image. From a natural standpoint its parasitic and a threat to the life of the tree of life since for the effort excreted in producing fruit was wasted. in my opinion anyway x
"El" as quoted by the hebrews isn't the same as being cast out. "EL" is a really simle translation of an aggressive and uncaring god. 'EL Must be obeyed' wheras the god in Eden gives a choice... the GOD in eden also DESPISES El! And i despise you too dickhead. Im learning muay thai what are you learning ass hole!!
Who told you it was a apple? It could have been a peach.
God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil and commanded Adam and Eve not to eat of it nor it touch lest they die.
He did it for the simple reason that without giving mankind a choice of obedience there couldn't possibly be true worship and honor of God.
Adam and Eve decided to excerise their free will and rebel now we are here in a crap world filled with pain and sufferings til God puts and end to everything and start all over into a perfect beautiful world once again like before in the Garden of Eden.
actually there is a tradition that says it was a fig tree, and thats why Christ cursed that fig tree to stay sere and withered forever. cause He saw all the pain and suffering and evil the fall brought to humankind and also experienced them struggles as being incarnated. thus he cursed that fig tree.
well about the fig tre incident there is also the interpretation that symbolically, the fig tree represented the spiritual deadness of Israel, who while very religious outwardly with all the sacrifices and pompous speaches, were spiritually barren because of their sins. By cleansing the Temple and cursing the fig tree, causing it to whither and die, Jesus was pronouncing His coming judgment of Israel and demonstrating His power to carry it out. It also teaches the principle that religious profession and observance are not enough to guarantee salvation, unless there is the fruit of genuine salvation evidenced in the life of the person.
@Hispanic-Cool_Guy - Just to clarify - free will would not have come into being if Eve choose NOT to eat from the apple? Is that a fair thing to say about how you think on this? Just wondering...
Your not a JW are you?
@That1tallguy Do you mean this question to me? If so, what is a JW?
@Hispanic-Cool-Guy I had your username spelled wrong so I am reposting what I said below:
@Hispanic-Cool_Guy - Just to clarify - free will would not have come into being if Eve choose NOT to eat from the apple? Is that a fair thing to say about how you think on this? Just wondering...
No it was towards @Hispanic-Cool-Guy he would know what jw is if he was 1
@That1tallguy hahaha. Thanks for clarifying. Can I guess though? Do I win a prize if I get it right? Is JW Jehovah Witness? lol! :)
Lol you win... @lizziepooh03
A cookie
@That1tallguy I am picky about my cookies. I hope it is a very, very thin cookie with a crunch and lemon taste to it. :)
No it's the worst a fluffy cookie that looks like chocolate chip but its actually raisins
Lemon cookies are tirrible trust me I'm doing you a favor
@That1tallguy Says you. /SticksTongueOut. I go with free choice and I freely choose those god damn lemon cookies. lol!
(I was going for funny but I may have just crossed the religious line with my god damn thing. Probably not the right time to bring up that taking the Lord's name in vain does not mean God Damn or cussing but actually means committing evil in his name. Man, I love religious topics. They are some of the most interesting topics out there and I do not know if I even believe in God. But man, I love discussing it. These topics make me think. They are awesome and full of thinking, despite what people say. )
@Dog19 While unfortunate, I imagine if God grants free will then He grants free will to commit rape and child abuse. You can not have free will while suppressing some acts. Can you? Yes?
your holy book is made-up.
@mullahstan
On the contrary, you don’t have to look far for proof that it’s definitely not made up.
@Hotchoco333 i don't agree. though as a supposed christian girl, it's nice to see you boast about how much cock you suck
@Hotchoco333 how do you know its not made up?
@lizziepooh03 i dont accept that as a proper explanation. However i can't refute it. My biggest problem is how can god be a good and righteous god but let such things happen? How can you even justify following a being like that? (Not that you do im just saying).
@Dme500 Morally, I have absolutely no problem following a being like that. If I believe in free will then I must believe that people may create evil and God allows it. How can I not believe that? If I want to believe that people have a freedom of choice then I must believe that sometimes people choose evil. So be it.
Choosing evil is a human's right. Thats fine. But watching evil happen, while having the power to stop it, but letting it continue anyway... thats just as evil and therefore, i surmise, that if god is real then he is either not good or not pwoerful. Either way i have been lied to and the god i know isn't the god im following.
@mullahstan I don’t recall boasting about that but okay 😂
@Hotchoco333 you always do.
@mullahstan okay, think what you want little boy
@Hotchoco333 not think, i know. but i will block you , since you don't know how to interact. maybe this is how people get on in your church, but that's cool.
@Hotchoco333 Ad hominem attacks are a logical fallacy commonly employed by those who lack a valid argument. In well run forums direct personal attacks get you banned.
Ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or "to the person"), short for argumentum ad hominem, is where an argument is rebutted by attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.
It was sin because god forbade it, that is the definition of sin, and trust me i know, look at my name.
however, the story is often used as a metaphor because Adam and eve live in blissful ignorance of the world, a paradise like the animals free of guilt, suffering, pain and many of the emotions of mans higher thought. However, by consuming knowledge they became self-aware. They suddenly knew what nakedness was and learned to feel shame, they felt guilt for betraying god, and would forever suffer because these emotions would forever rule their actions like anger, envy, lust, etc.
Why is being naked shameful to Eve and Adam.. I love being naked
Why the have insecurities in the first place? I'm sure Adam and Even didn't watch television.. or did they
No, but Adam and Eve are allegories for early man kind, and they had the same problems we have to day between men and women. Fear of not meeting expectations and offending one another or not being strong enough on the battlefield or pretty enough to land a handsome man and so and such.
Who cares what other people think?
Did eating the apple/knowledge cause this...
If so that's true then why do I not think like them... as I am born of sin according to Christians.
because god was a douchebag. he knew they would not be able to stand the temptation, cause he knew that´s what free will does in the face of eternity.
that´s like putting you in a room with a button forever to stay, telling you not to push the button. at some point you´l just do it.
god knew that and did it cause he´s a sadistic asshole who likes to punish creatures for doing the thing he created them to do.
if you´re a christian keyboard warrior trying to convince me of god, just stop it please. this isn´t directed at you @Warmapplecrumble it´s meant for the christian fanatic who was reading this and is considering to plaster me with bible quotes right now, that´s right i got you! just stop please.
What if God is Satan and Satan is God :-p
Twisted fantasies of a weird bunch of authors. Seemingly got so popular until even today. You'll probably see 50 shades of Grey in even the far future popular among women.
It's all about the storyline or novels or anything worth reading. I don't see anything for myself in for the bible as it's ancient and outdated so to say. Plus its not my kind of fairy tale. my kind of fairy tale is my little pony. But philosophies range way back in that time too but philosophies are applicable even today.
Or maybe not letting yourself be commanded under the influence of those, who pretend to wield religious powers.
I would even say, that animals are smarter than us in certain aspects. They don't even know what religion is and most likely don't believe in god xD 😂😂😂😂😂 🤣
We managed to become so stupid as a whole.
But this is not to be confused with spiritual comfort.
In my own opinion, that nobody cares about (and will trigger the fanatical members of religion) i think the bible and the quran are looked deeper into than it should probably be. I mean i never read those 2 but the theists make a deeper deal out of it because the bible doesn't mention such specifics. The bible i have read only the beginning few pages, found it boring and never bothered with it again.
Then there are theists, who claim things conflicting each other like whether masturbation is what they call a sin or not. Meanwhile I'm an atheist over here masturbating to porn in peace almost daily without any backfiring.
@Unit1
@Unit1
I don't belong to any religion and never will. They are forms of control compliance through fear of sin and hell. And also they create division between different groups and wars.
However, I do like to understand religion and it's root, I study it.. to understand its evil nature :-p
I think its very important to understand the enemy.
Lmao
and foetuses masturbate in the womb.. they must be fornicating.
Hahaha, i like you, lady 😂😅
I agree. It's alright to study the evil, that is trying to control and manipulate us under the fear of "gods" (some twisted fantasy about an invisible man in the sky) judgment. Reinforce yourself against their tricks 😉
It will save you from it ^^
Me however, i don't associate myself with such evil to begin with 😀 I'm sure they can't convince Me.
I have actually figured out how religion supposedly should be able to help people spiritually but it has been utilized to extract benefits from it's followers to those, who are supposed to be the (false) leaders. When i realized how it comforts people spiritually, i was only feeling discovery and that's it. I'm not impressed.
what are the apples about? xD
It went against the word of God. Personally I believe that by banning them from eating from the tree of knowledge, it was taking away Adam and Eves true free will. Therefor the supposed "devil" gave them true free will and the knowledge of consequences. If they'd stayed in the garden, they'd never have had knowledge of evil and destruction, but without knowledge of that, how are they ever to be able to decide what is right and wrong through their own free will? They just couldn't, and they couldn't be truly free without that tree. I think God called it a sin as it went against his word, and meant they were less in his control.
I don't believe in the story as I'm not a Christian, that's just how I inferred it when I was at church when I was younger. If you chose to believe God was protecting them, that's your own choice and that's okay, that's just my interpretation.🙂 Free will and all that 🙂
Exactly, Satan gave us free will, that's why Satanism actually has a good argument because he's the one looking out for humans and gave us the gift of knowledge, which we can't get enough of because we're always learning more
I moreso agree with this interpretation, though if you ask me, it's just bad writing. The tree is an excuse to get explain why sin and evil exist, there's no real reason for it to be there. One thing I'm curious about... what would have happened if they ate from the tree of life first? The one that supposedly makes you immortal? Would that cancel out the effects of the tree of knowledge? Could be an interesting fanfiction...
God knows the true good and evil. Humans don't. When God commanded not to eat those, it means it's evil and sinful. Humans, obviously not understanding what's right and wrong, celebrated their free will and ate the apple. After that, they knew they fucked up and realized what they did was wrong because they know the right and wrong. Thus, look at our world. Because of them, we live like a bunch of sad zombies. Not God fault because free will was given to us. We chose to become shitty. Thus, to undo that sinful decision, you accept God's idea of right and wrong and obey.
Because being a brainless idiot allows smarter people to manipulate you and make you do what they actually want. Being smart allows you to question, search for the truth by yourself, become curious and again QUESTION what you are told (that is how progress is made)
"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully." -- Richard Dawkins
The tree of knowledge is symbol of the knowledge Adam and Eve gained after they disobeyed God. Before hand, they were pure and innocent a lot like the way a child is before learning about sin. But even in the Garden of Eden there was good and evil, God and Satan. The tree of knowledge was inhabited by Satan (the snake). It's not like God was like this is the tree of knowledge.. don't eat from it bc I want you to be dumb. It was more like a father protecting his children from seeing the evil of the world the way most parents would.
"Surely knowledge is a good thing." Whenever an argument contains words like "clearly" or "surely" or "certainly," that is an indication of the weakness on the argument.
If you had a terminal illness which was not treatable, which would simply and suddenly kill you one day without any prodromal symptoms, would you want to know? Many people would not want to know.
The story says that Adam and Eve lived in innocent bliss until they ate of the tree of knowledge, then they were ashamed of their nakedness and they cowered in fear. "Surely knowledge is a good thing?"
Well, the tree of knowledge represented a lot of different things that ultimately cause more suffering than good. Believe it or not, being knowledgeable or very intelligent can have disastrous effects on your mental wellbeing. You can be more inclined to depression. Have you ever heard the saying "ignorance is bliss?" Well, sometimes not being knowledgeable of certain things will keep you alive, happy, and avoid suffering. When Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge, they were overwhelmed with feelings of shame because they were naked. Sometimes it's better to NOT know certain things. Parents hide things from their children all the time. Have you ever heard the saying "curiosity killed the cat?"
OK so according to you you must be" bliss"all of the time. Lol
Well, youngster, id put on some pants first before your grandkids wake up.
Ignorance may be bliss, but it's a happiness founded on falsehood. It's a willful deviation from objective truth, for the sole reason that this truth is uncomfortable or unpleasant. I fail to see how this is a good thing. For one, it allows for no personal growth whatsoever.
And the full saying actually goes: "curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back." ;)
Well, keep in mind that suffering is much more common than happiness. Life is suffering. Perhaps god didn't want Adam and Eve to live a life of shame (naked) and suffering. Also, it's not self evident that certain truths are objective believe it or not. I'm not religious by the way 😅
Adam and Eve knew shame when they realized they were naked, and that caused them suffering--BUT, eating the fruit gave them the knowledge of the fact that they were naked AND allowed them to entertain the possibility of putting some damn clothes on. Prior to eating the fruit, they were naked, and they didn't know it, and would have spent their whole lives that way. But the fact that they felt shame after realizing their state of being, I interpret as meaning that their state of being was not that great to begin with. They did themselves a service by eating the fruit.
I'm not religious either; if anything, I'm a hardcore realist and empiricist. I believe objective truth exists and can be empirically measured and understood.
You're too smart, you win. 😅
Wait, just that like that? :O I'm going to go revel in this moment, because it's literally never happened before. And on the internet of all places... XD
Honestly, I could go on for DAYS 😆. But I'll give this win to you.
