Would it not be better to Believe Vs not?

Question

This is just a thought , and a controversial one at that I know.

but for people that don’t believe in God, in heaven and hell - is it worth the risk?

I used to believe there was nothing after death , and sometimes I still need to shake that thought.

what got me to believe, is the risk worth it? Yes, you can believe there is nothing after death. That there is no god etc. but what if? What about that 0.01 chance it MIGHT be real? According to the Bible those that turn away from God will be thrown into a fiery pit to suffer.
so that’s why I think if you to choose between nothing or something, wouldn’t it be better to choose God for at least, A JUST IN CASE?

Not believing in god or heaven and hell is not the same as believing god doesn't exist.

Now thats out of the way, you seem to be aiming your question squarely at belief in the god of the bible? That is the same risk you think you're avoiding. How do you know that you shouldn't really be believing in Hinduism? Or the Greek or Roman gods? Or the African gods? Etc.

Heaven and hell are fictional places spread by the myths they belong to just like every other story inspired by the many religious superstitions of the world.

Being an atheist is simply the default position one takes when there is a lack of convincing evidence for religious claims.

Pascal's wager, huh? It always struck me as rank cowardice; stand up for your beliefs. My perspective's naturally different than yours here, since I AM a religious man, but if the only reason you worship a god is fear of punishment or hope of reward, then what's the point? That's not love, that's not loyalty, that's just saying that you can be bribed.

Beyond the immediate concern, your religion should be giving you things BEFORE you die. If you're not getting anything out of it on this side of death, it's not for you.

Lots of people don't need to believe god or in the conventional heaven/hell set ups.
Also sort of hard to be "scared" of something I truly believe is lies. That and God would be a hypocritical butt hole if he created humans and gave them the choice. But then, God seems that way to me anyway.

There are tens of thousands of religions, cults and sects today. Hundreds of thousands in history, with millions of deities. Your chance of being wrong with any God is the same, and some are far worse to be wrong with.

Statistically, there’s over 1000 potential gods. If you take the logical stance of waiting for evidence, no god should fault you for that. I say should, because Old Testament god certainly would.
