Have you ever tried having a nap and you fall into a state of "asleep but not really".
This happens to me often. I try to sleep, my body is relaxed, I feel like I'm in a sleeping state but when I open my eyes, I feel like I never slept. It's like my brain was at a 100%.
Sometimes, I will get extremely vivid dreams too. This happened to me today as well.
In this dream, I was chilling in a cabin in the woods somewhere. It's hard to describe but, I first saw a guy outside, I got worried and kept peeping through a wooden window like a kid does. The window was too high so you could only see my eyes and my fingers trying to get my body up to the window.
Then after a few minutes, I thought he was coming in to aggress me but he took out a cup and started drinking coffee instead. I felt safe to go out, so I started making my way up to him so we could talk. Then all of a sudden, there were at least 10 people who entered the cabin and one of them was an art teacher. They were getting ready to paint and mold clay. One of them was giving pencils to draw and at that point, I started feeling anxious. I kept repeating to myself that I didn't want to be there as the pencil person was getting close to me. Eventually, I got so anxious that I felt physically (in the real world) my chest got tight, I wanted to scream and cry. Then I opened my eyes. That last part felt extremely real.
This doesn't always happen, anyhow not so dramatic but, oftentimes when I try getting a nap and I'm feeling some sort of emotions positive or not (it could be about dancing with crush or any random stuff), I'd fall into this state of not "quite asleep but feels like it" and get crazy dreams... enough for me to get spooked 😅
So I just call this daydreaming but I don't think daydreaming happens like that usually.
Does anyone know how this is called and have you ever experienced that? Maybe you can share a few experiences as well.

Dreams are a subject that I have been away from for a long time.
The subconscious shows you some images during sleep to keep things in balance.
This may be due to the pleasure offered by that feeling that a person feels when daydreaming.
And the sleep process is an adventure/cycle that is repeated more than once.
People who are often called “light sleepers” may choose to remember everything between these cycles and continue to dream, analyzing and manipulating these images in the N1 cycle, the transitional phase between wakefulness and deep sleep.
The time between sleep stages is variable, and what allows you to have this experience may be due to the fact that one cycle between these cycles takes longer than the others.
In conclusion, yes, calling it "dreaming" would not be a wrong choice.
I had to read that twice but I eventually understood. Thanks a lot for this explanation. So basically, what I experience is just "light sleeping" and usually at night, I would go through all the sleep stages instead of staying stuck at that first stage. So then what's daydreaming then? I feel like it's the same as light sleeping since you manipulate the images that come to mind as well, no?
Sleep is a complex physiological process that can be divided into several different stages... And it has many variables depending on the psychology of each person. Therefore, it is not possible to present a clear and proven opinion on this issue.
"Daydreaming" can have different meanings for each person.
We can generally consider this as an "escape" option.
People usually think about something to "feel good" through music and, in a way, give themselves time between these thoughts.
You may be involuntarily shaping or trying to shape the dream (s) presented to you by your subconscious during sleep, when you are half awake all night long; just like when you daydream.
Also, some people say they can manage their dreams.
Based on this and many other things; Yes.
interesting dream. but don't worry, a dream like awake is still rest.
just avoid "racing thoughts" when planning to start sleep.
I have had experiences similar
Great to know I am not the only one. Were you feeling an extreme emotion before you went to bed?
I am really wondering why this happens.
I believe I did
