My response was more to the description of the question than the question itself. The question isn’t so much about belief in Jesus as much as believing what he said to the point that it changes one’s actions. It’s about following through as a Christian. There’s a lot of people that claim to be Christians but show no fruit.
I have. Many times, in fact. It's not about jesus. The suffering servant talked about is Israel. Israel is constantly referred to as a servant throughout Isaiah. Are you sure YOU'VE read Isaiah?
It was a prophecy of the future. Give Isaiah 53 to anyone who has never read it, but read the new testament, sounds like the story of Jesus, to the letter.
Jesus was despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows, he was despised, and his own people rejected him,
Jesus was put on the cross, he was oppressed and afflicted, brought as a lamb to the slaughter, Jesus was put to death by his own people,
Yeah, no. Give Isaiah to anyone who hasn't read it and have them read it all, they'd never come to that conclusion.
You do realize that you have to read more than just Isaiah 53... right? Read Isaiah 52, 51, 54...
Isaiah 53, the fourth of four Servant Songs, is umbilically connected to its preceding chapters. The “servant” in each of the three previous Servant Songs is plainly and repeatedly identified as the nation of Israel.
Isaiah 41:8-9 "But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham, my friend; you whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, “You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off.”"
Isaiah 44:1 "But now hear, O Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen!"
Isaiah 49:3 "And he said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”"
It's very VERY clearly stated that the servant in question is Israel multiple times. Jesus has nothing to do with Judaism, he isn't in the Torah at all.
We've already established that Isaiah isn't talking about a Messiah.
You have to understand that 53 is a direct continuation of 52. In chapter 52:13, a prophet is speaking. They don't stop until 54. In 52 - 54, the prophet is referring to the gentile nations who have tormented and inflicted pain and suffering on the Jewish people.
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Who wrote this? -Isaiah Who is talking here as if one were giving a lecture in a Jewish synagogue back then? -Isaiah
Let me put it another way
Isaiah 53:2-3
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when us jews shall see him, there is no beauty that jews should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and the Jewish people hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and us jews esteemed him not.
Good job showing you can't back up your claims with a quote and that you don't know what Isaiah 53 is talking about 😂.
Let's take a look at how Isaiah 53 is in the Torah.
53:2: For he has grown, by God’s favor, like a tree crown, Like a tree trunk out of arid ground. He had no form or beauty, that we should look at him: No charm, that we should find him pleasing.
53:3: He (Israel) was despised, shunned by others, A man (Israel) of suffering, familiar with disease (Israel's adversities are frequently likened to sickness Isa. 1:5-6; Jer. 10:19; Jer 30:12.) As one who hid his face from us, He was despised, we held him of no account.
Again, if you actually read Isaiah and understand it, it's very obvious that it's talking about Israel.

I mean, that’s the battle isn’t it?
Yes.
It shouldn't be a battle though. If it is then there is something seriously wrong with what it is that you're trying to force yourself to believe.

I try but I don’t always succeed
Not at all. Completely mythical.
Absolutely not
I am a shit Christian but I believe, yes.
Yeah I really do
Why? Just why?
No. I'm Jewish lol
Are you saying some do not believe in Jesus?
And that he's the messiah talked about in Isaiah 53?
Jews don't believe in jesus and he's not talked about in the Torah at all.
You never read Isaiah 53

@sean1234 You're incorrect. @WintersDaughter is correct.

what about 53, can't you talk about it?
Babe, Isaiah is one long scroll. The chapters put in are there to help, but it doesn't change how it's meant to be read.
There's nothing in 53 that shows your god.
Isaiah 53 talks about how the jews would reject their own messiah... which they did later on.
Go ahead and give me a quote from 53 that shows that.
verse 2 and 3 . the "we" shall, We should", who do you think the "we" is talking about in those verses?
So you can't quote it 💀.
We've already established that Isaiah isn't talking about a Messiah.
