I only agree with you because I've seen the long term effects of being a stay at home mom.
My parents split soon after I turned 20. My mom had to face the workforce at the age of 50 with 0 years of experience on her resume. She is working 12 hr shifts in a high stress/ physically demanding job. She gets depressed because she is also going through menopause.
It just doesn't pay to depend on someone or make your entire life about your kids because when said kids grow up, parents lose their purpose/meaning/ direction in life which is why it's so important to not lose their independence. That means having their own job/hobbies that can support them
Why is this featured? This is antagonistic, not understanding and compassionate, and just plain rude to the hard-working mothers out there.
And when the sole provider loses his/her job (let's make sure we include the stay at home dads...), then what happens to the family? Starvation? Government assistance? Imposing upon extended family/friends?
It seems like it should be a personal choice. But it has societal implications, and from that vantage point, choosing to be a single-income family is extraordinarily selfish and irresponsible.
So really, who is the one who is actually not being understanding?
My mom didn't work when I was little and I turned out just fine. You try pushing a baby out and caring for it. See how you feel. Yeah, you probably would wanna stop working too.
lol the men are so mad. 😂
A woman should always have her own disposable income and not rely on a man however when she is pregnant or taking care of a child she gets a free pass. When the child is old enough to be home alone the mother needs to be able to support herself.
"When the child is old enough to be home alone the mother needs to be able to support herself."
We seem to agree in principle, just not in time-frame.
Well each child matures at a different rate that is why I was vague about it and did not include a specific time frame.
It's not your place to dictate what course is "acceptable" for women to choose during their own journeys. Accept that.
She can choose whatever she wants, I never said that. However, she can accept that poor choices will result in her remaining single.
@Take Owner Not necessarily. Your approach and reaction is not going to autofit every other man's personality. Perhaps for YOU she can accept that poor choices will result in her never being with you. Nonetheless, you should humbly accept that you're not the official representative for all men and all women aren't striving to please and impress some 30-35 anonymous stranger online. You have no right or place to dictate the lifestyles women should have.
I'm not dictating anyone's lifestyle. Do I have a gun to anyone's head? They can do as they please.
But they would do well not to be stupid in so doing.
You don't have to hold a gun to someone's head in order to dictate their lifestyle. Your combative, insulting, condescending, pushy tone clearly implies that you seem to mistakenly believe you have some sort of place or right to dictate what women should be doing. It's unappealing. Honestly, with the communication skills you've shown here and the fact that you can't even show your face in this post, I think you should worry less about the strategies of random mothers and focus more on yourself.
"But they would do well not to be stupid in so doing. "
Like I said, you have no place or right to decide that a woman is automatically stupid because of one life choice. You're a complete and total outsider to these female's lives. Stop arrogantly judging them and acting like they were put on this planet to please and impress you.
Frankly, I include men in that too. They should have enough self-respect not to accept a slothful parasite into their lives--same goes for women. Slothful men are equally contemptible.
Frankly, you have no legitimate place or right to be deciding that other grown folks must be lazy or stupid for the way they choose to proceed with their journey once they become parents. You are overestimating the worth of your viewpoint as a complete and total irrelevant outsider to the lives of unique individuals who don't even know you. You arrogantly proclaiming what self-respect is as a parent just makes you look like less of a man to be totally honest.
My mother was a stay-at-home mom because she suffered from depression and anxiety, and to this day struggles to go to the damn supermarket. My friend is a stay-at-home mom because after she gave birth, she couldn't see herself going to work when she had kids to take care of. Think what you want, your personal preference and whatever, but it's not really fair to judge them for it.
If she was working, she could afford treatment and better herself. No judgement, just an alternative viewpoint.
I live in England, the treatment costs nothing. She literally can't leave the house to the point where as a kid, all the parent meetings at school were attended by my grandparents. Mental health issues run in my family, and though mine isn't as severe, I can see why it would be hard.
I think women should be free to do what they want with their life. I have a stay at home dad, and he does a lot around the house so I would assume that women would do just as much.
This take applies equally well to stay at home dads. He should find actual work.
I'm not sure you got what I meant: stay at home parents do a lot of work around the house, and In my opinion if a family has one working parent and one stay at home parent and that configuration works for them why should it matter? If enough money is being earned and both parents are happy and the kids are happy why would it matter?
So... Is a housekeeper "actual work" in your opinion? What is your definition of "actual work"? Someone who gets a paycheck only? Because it's complete BS if you think a maid or babysitter has an actual "job" but a Stay at home parent doesn't.
I would agree with you if you werent such a dick. Not all stay at home moms are staying at home because of their lazyness, who is better to educate childs than their own mother?
Dick or not, I'm right. Thanks for saying it.
And if mothers were actually educating their kids, the world would be quite different--but they're not. Talk to an actual teacher and get a critique of the average mother's parenting skills (the results are on display everyday in the classroom...)
Im not saying you're right, but there are lazy people everywhere. Even when people have jobs they usually do just enough to keep it, but its their choises.
You are just being misogynistic.
Even if your friends wife is lazy this is his problem, Its his fault for not taking control of his life and duping his shitty wife.
Unless you married a millionaire, this is the reason staying at home is a problem :

money.cnn.com/interactive/pf/cost-of-children/
They weren't lazy before. They took care of the kids and many other tasks. You can be against that role, but don't call it "lazy", because it isn't.
Last I knew, watching TV wasn't known as "work."
I'm a stay at home mom and I don't even own a television. Your argument is invalid.
"That shit is easy?" Really? You do realize how hard it is to chase after small kids right? It's a full time job. No a woman shouldn't waste her education, but if when she gets married, her husband is financially able to let her stay home with their kids instead of putting them in daycare, then let her do it. Don't marry a girl who is like this since you love to complain.
Yes, it's easy. Easy. Say it a thousand times if you need to.
Women should be expected to work, period. Whether it's a man or a woman, staying home and exploiting an SO is shameful. Yeah, people can do what they want, but that doesn't make the behavior any less disgusting.
Anyone who thinks being a parent is easy
1. Is not a parent, or has a full time nanny.
2. Is incredibly ignorant about what exactly it takes to raise a child much less mulitples.
meh, they can do what they want.
different people, different opinions.
Being a stay at home mom/dad is fine, but only if there's children involved. Otherwise they're just being lazy. Get a job or an education.
my mum is a stay at home mum and she does so much around the house and for my family, how is it unacceptable? a stay at home mum isn't just sitting around and drinking coffee
Oftentimes, they are. Stay at home moms (or dads, for that matter) are slothful parasites.
you're an actual dropkick.
I think that's a decision that should be between the couple in question and no one else but aight bruh
This is fucking shit.
Obvious Troll is obvious! Lol
I had another "trolling comment" in this take. Let me respond in the same way:
"Know what disgusts me? A friend of my sister went to college, took out all kinds of debt, got married... then stopped looking for work. Her husband is in the military and has been deployed to hot zones. And she stays home, does nothing, and spends his money to remodel the house... and do nothing. Filthy, disgusting behavior. And she dares complain about that man "not doing enough."
I'm simply talking about real-life situations I've witnessed and have found revolting. Stay-at-home moms ARE revolting."
"One woman is taking advantage of one guy I know, from my perspective! All stay at home mom's are lazy and no good!"
Your logic is infallible. ...
It simply inspired the post. It's hardly the stuff upon which I'm basing the post.
Frankly, it's disgusting. The sense of entitlement, the exploitative nature of it--and worse, how *common* it is. How many stay-at-home moms do you know? Probably a few right? Guaranteed, they have a disgustingly easy life, but probably have no shortage of complaints about it.
I'm kind of impressed you got over 100 opinions on a bad troll post.
You must have worked with some well-behaved old-enough kids in an easy-to-maintain house with TV dinners.
I was a stay at home mom... I dont regret it one minute. I dont think you have the say so for other women. It's really none of your business.
Kids need time.
I don't know. If my mom worked full time just like my dad, then I don't think I would have felt any connection with her.
Never thought a title could be so disgusting.
