As a bisexual person, I believe the bigotry starts when you attack the humans themselves. If you don't like the idea of gay marriage because your religion says that they shouldn't marry, well, that's ok. When you says "because they're nasty faggots" "because they're all going to bring daemons into the world" "because they're responsible for the evil in the world; the fags are responsible for 9/11!" (Actual comment I overheard) then you're a bigot.

Any opposition of "LGBT rights" is frowned upon by LGBT proponents. The truth is, LGBT people do not want opposition. They want acceptance of their views, lifestyles, and sexual orientations. Additionally, some LGBT people tend to be more sensitive than others in regards to their own sexual orientation, so it is extremely easy to offend them, and they may say they're offended when other LGBT people recognize no offense.
Bigot - a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.
Someone who slams another person for being anti-lgbt even when that person has, as you said, respectfully disagreed with that person is a bigot. You could be argued that you're a homophobe, but even that's a stretch.
Liberal Cuck: Anybody who doesn't support the LGBT is a homophobe Man: Well, I don't agree with that at all but that's just my perspective. Liberal Cuck: YOU FUCKING BIGOT! GO DIE ETC.
Just take a sociology class. There are plenty of cultures with polygamy or other things which have no resemblance to what we think of as a normal family structure. They do just fine.
Bigot is an overused word. Just because someone has a different opinion than you does not make them a bigot. If so, everyone in the world would be a bigot. As much as straight people should accept that LGBT people make different choices in life, the LGBT people need to accept that straight people make their own choices as well.
Everyone has an opinion. Everyone has free speech. As long as it remains at the speech level it's fine. If it turns into violence or hate crimes, then it's a problem.
I don't see how you could "respectfully disagree" that someone doesn't deserve the same rights as you. That would be a paradox. Yes you can be way more aggressive towards the LGBTQ+ community but the fact stands that you think they don't deserve some rights simply for who they happen to love/desire sexually. There's nothing "respectful" about thinking someone is beneath you and doesn't deserve the same treatment as you, because that's essentially what it boils down to.
I don't agree with it but I'm not trying to stop them as well neither do I believe gay people are beneath me. There are gay people I look up too I just don't believe in gay marriage. I don't think it's right. Gay people have the same right as any other American.
@beautiful_1 thinking it's not right and not "believing" in gay marriage is thinking they don't deserve the same rights = them not being as "worthy" as you are = them being beneath you.
No its not at all. I don't think nobody is beneath me, I'm not perfect myself. Like I said before gays do have the same rights as any straight person. I will never believe in gay marriage. That's like saying I think my sister who divorced her husband is beneath me because she chose to leave her husband. I didn't agree with her actions but not once did I feel she was beneath me. I don't agree with some of my own actions in the past. Disagreeing doesn't always equate to hate you know.
Well, interesting question. The phrasing here is important. You asked: " Does Respectfully Disagreeing..." make someone a bigot. Short answer, Yes. If I respectfully disagree with black people having equal rights, am I not a bigot? If I respectfully disagree that women should have the right to vote, would I not be a bigot? I think we would agree that these things could identify one as a bigot. All of this being said, I respect anyone's right to have an opinion different from mine. We must all accept that our opinions will allow others to form opinions about us.
I mean, what kinda LGBTQ+ rights are we talking here? Because for the most glory the LGBTQ+ movement is just about equal rights and respect for LGBTQ+ people. And if anyone honestly believes that just because a person isn't straight or cisgender they aren't as deserving of rights or respect, then yes, that makes them a bigot. Doesn't matter how respectfully it's done, it's still not okay.
Some of the LGBT community are bigots because they are becoming intolerant of anyone who doesn't agree with gay marriage. They are accussing people of hate when we dont agree. I can love and respect you and still not agree with you, that doesn't make me a bigot. I'm not intolerant of gay people I actually have relationships with some gay people but overall I don't agree with gay marriage because it was a covenant created by God for man and women. When gays marry It's like your ultimately spitting in God's face saying I never will value your word and I promise to never follow it. I really respect marriage and feel like gays are mocking what God created to be sacred.

Doesn't bigot mean, "a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions"?
So it seems like you could be a bigot either way, because you are intolerant of those who hold one opinion or the other. The key concept in bigotry is not tolerating the other persons opinion.
I'm saying 'bigot' is not the right word. There are lots and lots of 'liberal bigots'. I think 'unsympathetic' or 'incompassionate' would be a better term.
they are still bigots, even "respectfully" disagreeing doesn't matter when it's a person's rights as a human being at stake. doing it "respectfully" doesn't mean it makes you better than people who disrespectfully deny others' rights.
when someone tells me they don't believe [gay people/black people/white people] should have rights, i assume many things of their upbringing and generally disassociate myself with them.
I don't care about LGBT, but I don't support gay couples adopting children. The scientific knowledge on homosexuality is unsatisfactory, to say the least and I will never support gays adopting until there is complete confidence that outside factors DO NOT affect your sexuality. And since nothing ever happens without underlying cause I'm very skeptical.
Its just not adoption now. Gays are using fertility clinics i. e. two gay guys find a surrogate mother. Two lesbians find a sperm donor.
A few years ago I got in a debate with my very liberal ex girlfriend about this. Most of it was the ole' PC rhetoric when she was defending LGBT. However she told me that "homosexuality is mother natures way of keeping the population down". That was the ONLY TIME I ever gave the aberant behavior a deeper thought. It theory did make sense to me. However NOW LOOK what they are doing. Good luck explaining the birds & the bees to that poor kid when they hit puberty.
I DON'T CARE WHO YOU FUCK. As long as no one gets hurt, everything is consensual and the person is of legal age (16). I don't want to know who you fuck and how just leave me alone and keep your rainbow flags in the closet.
@Tanisha69 Every year in June swarms of them flock to Toronto from around the world to wave their flags, block traffic and until recently fuck each other in public.
Yeah they want to be "equal but special". Textbook liberal philosophy.
When you around screaming "gay rights" you are essentially telling everybody about your SEX life. The VAST majority of people could care less about what you do in the bedroom but now you want to do it in public too?
@sdistotallyme Here's another thing I never got about gay rights, discrimination against gays only occurs if someone is openly gay. Why not keep it to yourself? It's not like people talk about their sex life with everyone. I consider it a taboo to discuss what happens in the bedroom with others.
" Every year in June swarms of them flock to Toronto from around the world to wave their flags, block traffic and until recently fuck each other in public." That reminds me a little of boston, only its not just gay people, its utter assholes that are proud to be assholes
#QuestionMan I completely agree. However it seems that the weak minded out there want to feel "special" and distinctive when they have done nothing to earn it. Being gay doesn't make you special. That's what the vast majority of these rainbow enthusiasts fail to understand (or maybe do understand but purposely ignore to keep their "edge"). Most people are not going to hate you because of your sexual preference. We hate the fact that you demand "extra" respect for it. They keep saying "equal rights... equal rights... equal rights" but I call bullshit. They want to be special, plain and simple. Greed is a REAL human emotion.
This has gone so insanely far in the western world that rainbow brownshirts (think of Southpark's "PC Principal") will berate, censor, scream, label, protest and even get VIOLENT (trump protestors) with those who don't agree with them. This is only a short term answer though because the old saying is "those convinced against their will are the SAME opinion still".
@sdistotallyme It makes me sick to see people regress. MLK once said "judge not by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character". Being gay, or Black is not enough. You have to earn respect.
I don't think that it does.. Just the same as disagreeing with feminists and sjw's. But both groups react venomously and violently when you disagree, calling you racist, bigoted, and woman haters.
I don't think there's any logical reason to disagree with giving rights to every citizen or with understanding that sexuality is derived from a person's biology... rather than being a lifestyle choice.
Does Respectfully Disagreeing with HETEROSEXUAL Rights Automatically Make Someone a Bigot? I'd say no, so it actually bigoted to suggest that Disagreeing with LGBT crowd is bigoted, besides, since when does simply being not-heterosexual give people special "rights"?
Hmm, I see your point. I still believe a lot of people who are against gay people try to cover it up, and doesn't want to be called out. Thus not calling anyone an disgusting faggot etc, at least not out loud

You could argue the LGBT community are bigoted as they show an intolerance to religous people, and institutions.
I just can't take the LGBT rights movement seriously if im honest. On one hand they walk down streets in bondage gear celebrating gay culture. On the othe hand they want to be allowed to get married. Crazy
Of course there is. But I'm just pointing out that the equality we push for has nothing to do with religious people's personal convictions. We're not trying to turn everyone atheist or make them go to pride rallies, we just want to be able to comfortably use the bathroom and not be road-blocked by adoption agencies. We are pushing to the middle ground, not taking ground from the religious.
And of course someone can argue against if they want, that's what makes this a free country. But that doesn't mean anyone has to give that argument any credibility where none exists.
Like Christians don't parade around doing stupid things just as often? Corpus Christi processions? Street ministers yelling at people? Shall I bring up westboro baptists? And you have the gall to want us to teach creationism in school and make prayer mandatory? If you want your position to hold any water you're going to have to do better than that.
Im actually an atheist. I also live in the UK where we dont tend to have those relgious groups you named. Gay culture is mostly outrageous and also promiscuous. I've seen a gay pride event and I've also been to a gay bar with gay friends (good fun I might add). Infact many gay people think gay marriage will destroy this culture and what is so great about being gay but thats another story.
Gay culture and relgion are at polar opposites. Im not sure if they should be forced to go together. Also an interesting fact is that my bestfriend goes to corpus christi college at Cambridge uni.

Yes, it does automatically make you a bigot. There is no way to "respectfully" disagree with someone about their right to equality. These "genuinely concerned" people that you are talking about are paranoid conservatives who think that their personal religious beliefs have a place in what is supposed to be a secular government.

Being gay, or Black is not enough. You have to earn respect.
Except usually it's followed up with "nasty f****ts" or "sinners"
It usually never stops at. "I disagree"
Same with racists. It usually never stops at "i disagree" it usually ends in "*insert racist remark here*"
And by usually I mean like 90% of the time.
Ergo... They are bigots
I don't think that it does.. Just the same as disagreeing with feminists and sjw's. But both groups react venomously and violently when you disagree, calling you racist, bigoted, and woman haters.
I wanted to start saying something, but @OlderAndWiser said it perfectly.
Words like Bigot, racism, sexism, transphoiba have pretty much become synonymous for "I don't tolerate your different opinion, so shut up already."
It is always nice to be appreciated. :)
@OlderAndWiser Your words match your username and I just love your words omg
I don't think there's any logical reason to disagree with giving rights to every citizen or with understanding that sexuality is derived from a person's biology... rather than being a lifestyle choice.

You could argue the LGBT community are bigoted as they show an intolerance to religous people, and institutions.
Bigoted for demanding equal treatment under the law? Would you call Martin Luther King a bigot for not "tolerating" segregation?
Protesting unfair treatment has nothing to with religious people, it has to do with bullshit policies discriminating against us
Im just showing that their are two sides to every argument.
