"Extra melanin"? Nothing is "extra" about melanin. White privilege does exist, at least in America. A black kid and a white kid can do the same crime, the white kid would get a slap on the risk and the black kid would be thrown in jail. #truth

That is not white privilege.
White privilege is the belief that whites (especially men) are better or higher than black men. This drove racism in the south ever since and before the Civil War.
But things have gotten better since the 1960s for non whites.
There are scholarships, race centered colleges and towns, and Race centered buisnesses.
Blacks can do anything that a white can do, it is just up to him to do it.
I must correct you on the feminism bit. True, the western world doesn't need it but there are countries where women aren't allowed to even sit in the same cafe as men. I think they need some feminism.

As an islander I can tell you that white privilege does exist. So much that on the islands, since only a small population makes up teh white demographic, they have found colorism to bring about the same effect

@Rawrzz I will honestly say that white privilege (which is more about NOT having racial disadvantages than having actual advantages)... has decreased over time and in my opinion has been the lowest since the days of European colonialism. But it is still there.
However, like you probably feel as well, too many nonwhites use "white privilege" more as an excuse or scapegoat for their lack of achievement or for the stage of life they are in. This is America, and although it is slightly tougher for a nonwhite to make the fruitful life he or she wants, it is still VERY possible with hard work and perseverance.

Ah. I responded before it had posted. Okay. I feel like that's a pretty fair assessment. Though, I feel like "white privilege" is also used to state ultra advantage, not just lack of disadvantage: and sometimes that all white people are rich. And, I feel like the level of "privilege" that exists today is on the level that you would find in any other country--possibly lower.
The same as if a white person moved to Japan or China or Mexico; naturally, Japanese/whatever race are going to show some degree of preferential treatment to Japanese, just because that is natural for humans to do: feel more comfortable around people who are like them. I feel like the label "white privilege" demonizes white people for traits that exist in every other country and race. Note: just the label's wording.
I'm sure in the 70s when the term was coined--so said someone here--it was blatantly obvious; but, today, I feel like it is nonexistent.

@Rawrzz For me being a black American, I definitely can say that my mere presence alone somewhere causes some people to become defensive or uncomfortable in their body language, aka i'm stereotyped to be a physical threat to the person in question, or a threat to their tranquility due to them being more comfortable with "their own kind".
Being black, I have also noticed that I have to dispel stereotypes of being threatening, short-tempered, anti-intellectual, etc... the moment I meet people for the first time (even fellow blacks).
Pretty much I have to "prove i'm not a thug", from random places in public, to when I approach women, to the workplace.

Being white, I've noticed the same thing around black people and Mexicans. Perhaps the level of discomfort is different; but at the same time, thug culture and being the most poor class means that, statistically, black people are much more likely, per capita, to be violent or criminal. Stereotypes tend to be based on slivers of truth, just overly generalized

Check it out. My brother and I, 22 and 24, were going to buy some airsoft guns. The cashier called the cops on us, and they put an APB out on us. Just because we were "kinda" young. Just for buying them. Everyone gets stereotyped. So why is it "white privilege" when whites do it, but nothing when other races do?
But like I think I said, I think that term is really misleading if it refers to an action that is not solely "white". That's all.

White privilege just states how things currently are without blaming anyone. I know some people may use it to blame and some people just find it offensive but that's what it is in its purest form. Well, there's a reason why "white" civilizations were more prosperous than others, but you know why.
To be be honest I am disappointed at how ignorant people can be. Individuals who claim there is no sush thing as white privilege act as if there were no damages from centuries of wrong doing in our history.
SOME white people like to think that the past is the past and that it did not have any effect on the present.
Yes we have come a long way (and I'm thankful for that), but one must recognize that damages still remain. Do not condem other individuals for attempting to make reparations.

If you can't take it by force it ain't worth the paper its printed on. What are feminists and racial minorites in the west? Votes and protestors thats all. Thats fine in a settled society thats trading and has a healthy economy. Wait till it all falls apart again tben you'll see how the worlds really governed. By brute force nothing else. Men, especially rich men, can tear the rug out from under your feet at any time and send society back to the 19th century.
