I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls, as sisters and brothers.” ―
Martin Luther King Jr., I Have A Dream
Dear Mr. Martin Luther King, Jr. honestly, you would be a little disappointed that your dream didn't really become reality as a whole in 2017, YES there are a lot of interracial marriages and mixed children, YES people get along especially the new generation, but your project is not complete. We are not there yet.
We still have to learn how to walk like brothers and sisters without judging one another.
There is still hate, war, egoism, and a lot of discussion and fuss.
I also have a dream, that we all become united at least adapt each others lifestyle, learn from each other, open our minds more, and just get along, and suck out all the negativity that runs through our veins.
Can we all stop stereotyping America once and for all
Why should we call them fat? Who are you to do so? And why are they dumb for voting Mr. Trump, it's not like we have better presidents over here in Europe, HEY, I mean look at us Italians and Berlusconi ??
The first electronic hearing aid was invented in 1902 by Miller Reese Hutchinson, an inventor from Alabama.
And you should thank them that there is order right down your street, because the modern electric traffic light was invented in 1912 by Lester Wire, a policeman from Salt Lake City - American.
And if you think they are cold-hearted, you should check the World Giving Index, because according to them, Americans are the most likely people in the world to help a stranger.
And respect the fact that more than 69 percent of firefighters in the United States are volunteers. (chapeau my American amigos).
Why should we dislike Mexicans, and even build a wall?
The ones who had first printing press in North America that was used in Mexico City in 1539, and whose population is mestizo (Indian-Spanish), 30% is Indian or predominately Indian, 9% is Caucasian, and 1% is other ...
And genuinely, i think they are amazing and we can learn a lot from them, how to be so humble and easy going, learn their amazing language and their dancing moves. And i can reassure you, they are the sweetest human beings i have ever met so NO they are not criminals and gangsters.
Oh, let's not forget their amazing Tacos ... (drools)
Why should we refer to Germans as Nazis.
and instead respect them , since the College education in Germany is free even for internationals, why can't we just eat "Currywurst" with them, (typical German sausage, I guarantee you they are delicious)did you know they consume over 800 million "currywurst" each year.
And please, can we just stop to call them Hitler's sons, they are truly amazing folks and don't deserve this brutal identity.
Why would you think Finland is a sad country?
Because it's a place that has no sunlight for such a long expanse of time.
Maybe we should drink a cup of coffee with them since they are the world's biggest coffee drinkers, drinking up to 12 kg of the black substance annually (per person) ... which is twice than Italians (didn't expect that) and talk about their thousand lakes and their 2.2 million saunas (i'm not even kidding these are correct numbers). And no, they are NOT ALL BLONDES and they ARE NOT INTROVERTED.
And yeah, they probably hold the world record for hosting championships.
We should unite with them also ... Go Finland <3
Can we get the fact straight that Indians ARE highly educated
Education is extremely important to India, even poor village families strive to give their children the best education possible. They are very smart in general, they where even the first ones to discover that there was water on the moon in 2009.
We should actually thank our Indian friends while we drink our coffee with the our Finnish friends, because Indian where the first ones to consume SUGAR, they developed extraction and purifying techniques of sugar. Thank you India <3
Oh and you should not really thank your husband for that diamond ring, actually, you should thank Indians since diamonds were first mined in India.
And their Bollywood movies (sigh) ...
Why would we exclude Kazakhstan,
since they amazingly represent 120 nationalities, and who where the first people to domesticate and ride horses. Why can't we sit together and sip on their traditional drink called "KUMIS" , made from fermented mare's milk, that is believed to cure a lot of colds and other sicknesses even Tuberculosis.
Kazakhstan is a Muslim country ? No it is not a Muslim country at all.
Kazakhstan is NOT portrayed accurately in Borat, many people in Kazakhstan think that people from other countries may think so. And that is why many Kazakhs don't like Borat, but I personally don't think that people take that comedy as a something serious. (at least i hope so)
And we should honestly get a fact straight, that women of Kazakhstan are often dressed very stylishly and in high heels. Amazing folks <3
Can we also include Australia,
and learn a few from their 200 languages and dialects, about how this amazing country is multicultural since the result of immigrants from Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean after 1945.
Australia has a strong culture and identity and are down to earth, honest, good at sports, i mean ... why do people judge them in different ways. (I've seen a lot of people making fun of them for whatever reason)
Can't we just join them and talk about how the Australian Alps receive more snowfall than Switzerland.
Can we try and appreciate Syria,
The amazing fact that the two stars in the Syrian Flag represent the previous union between Syria and Egypt, and it's currently suspended from the Arab League.
Can we somehow understand that the Syrian refugee crisis is the worst humanitarian crisis since World War II. It affected 13 million residents who were forced to flee or face persecution from religious fanatics.
Can we just sit together with them and eat kebab served with a spicy tomato sauce and Aleppo pepper, something very common in Syria and Lebanon and talk about how they feel and get to know them?
Can we try and change vocabulary in describing Italians
Why do people call us Ferrari, Spaghetti and Mafia and sometimes even Jersey Shore and most of us don't even know who they are and that ridiculous fist pump WHAT??
No heck no... get out please, grazie ...
Maybe we should take a cup of espresso together from the espresso machine that Italians invented in 1884 and talk about the jeans you are wearing, because yes, guess what, denim jeans can be traced back to the northern city of Genoa in the 17th century, so it basically has Italian origins.
Next time you refer to us as Spaghetti, well :) we do have more than 500 varieties of pasta eaten in Italy, and they are all amazing ;)
Canada
well next time you watch your favorite movie on an unnecessarily large screen you can thank the Canadian company IMAX Corporation.
Pakistan
Oh your Blouse looks amazing on you, well thank you Pakistan for inventing those buttons - Get that !!
China
Thank them for the toilet papers ...
Hungary
Hungarian physicist Ányos Jedlik with electromagnetic coils led to the first modern electric motors. Thank you for that as well !!
Croatia
You can thank Croatian Josip Belušić for the fact that you know how fast you are going. They invented the speedometer.
Scotland
You are planing to watch TV tonight, well before you do so thank Scottish inventor John Baird who made the world’s first color transmission on July 3, 1928.
Russia
Russia is not stereotypically known for like shooting, bombing, tanks, fighter planes, or destructive machinery in general. Fire-fighting foam was invented by Russian engineer and chemist Aleksandr Loran in 1902.
Japan
If you think Corn Syrup was invented in the USA you are wrong amigo, Japan is responsible for one of the most ubiquitous sweeteners in the world.
Israel
You don't want to loose your files or pictures and keep them in your pocket right? Well thank Mr. Amir Ban, Dov Moran and Oron Ogdan of the Israeli company M-Systems, these amazing men developed USB flash drives in 1999.
There are OTHER tens of thousands of human inventions through the ages and around the planet, so this MyTake is not extensive or encyclopedic..
MY POINT IS, can't we just all agree that we basically helped each other with our inventions, we DO all have something in common after all, we are all UNITED because at the end, if you like it or not, WE are using each others inventions for our everyday life, MOST of these things have a huge impact in our lives, most of us couldn't even live without most of these inventions.
SO i think we should all THANK EACH OTHER, and each others existence, we should appreciate every culture, every identity, and accept it as our own, because thanks to ALL OF US we ARE WHO WE ARE.
Thanks to all
Peace out

Can We Stop Stereotyping and Thank Each Other? - Facts and Countries - Part 6
'Why would you think Finland is a sad country? Because it's a place that has no sunlight for such a long expanse of time.' Oh I can answer this, The further north you go, you get higher rates of suicide, depression, and alcoholism, its not just finland. Alaska and Maine the two most nothern states and are on complete opposite sides of the country have the highest rates of alcoholism and suicide in the country. Canada also has higher rates, Greenland has the highest suicide rate in the world https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_in_Greenland Norway, Sweden and Finland also have problems with it, so does russia and iceland. Basically, the further north you go the higher rates of suicide, alcoholism, and depression are
But it is not really sweet to concentrate on negative things that DOMINATE, because there are individuals who are still happy and that never think about killing themselves because they enjoy life. MY point is, us humans have to concentrate on the LITTLE positive and good things, and MAKE THOSE DOMINATE instead :)
Awesome Take.. I have a dream that one day we will live in a world where people help and love each other regardless of their culture, religion and ethnicity!
Although I agree it would be ideal for us to stop stereotyping but it would be a hard thing to do. A lot of stereotypes people believe in didn't even think they were streotypes. You would have to tell them that it is a stereotype and they themselves will decide for themselves whether they want to agree with you or not.
The second issue with stereotypes is the symantics of describing a subset of people. As soon as I say a black man, preconceptions will pop into your head about who I am talking about. And the most interesting thing about preconceptions is that more often than not, we act on them if we think they are harmless. Some would go as far as to be make the hostile assumption about a group of people than take the risk.
"Pretty much all white people are like this!" Many wouldn't necessarily believe 100% of all white people are this way, but many would say that you have a safer bet assuming every white person is this way.
Amazing take ! I am so agree with you. Thank you for taking your time and writing such a delightful amazing article. I'm going to save your notes! it's a precious gathering!
Just one point i would mention about India! they have the best medical universities in the world and they produce quality doctors and computer engineers.
But i didn't know people think Finland is a sad country! My girlfriend is Finnish!
-Finland is one of the most democratic countries in the world -The best education system in the world -University is free. Only you pay for your books. -Homeland of Nokia! the good old days! -The most prettiest lakes in the world are in Finland! -The village of Santa Clause located in Finland -The home of biggest cruise ships -Heart rate monitors invented by Finns -Home of Angry birds -Speeding fines are according to your income. Fair play!
Doesn't sound sad at all!
But i hope you take it easy on Italian vocabulary!! Ferrari, Spaghetti and Mafia! i love them all!!! Pasta, Lasagna and Spaghetti are my 1st of all time favorite foods! Grazie Italia! for real! and i actually love it's classic cars! such a work of art! also Mafia! Italy is my favorite country! In FIFA World Cup 2002, Italy lost to South Korea because of the unfair whistles and judgement from the referee, mind that South Korea and Japan were the host. If it wasn't because of the Mafia, the referee would never admit his purposely misjudges against Italy. And let's never forget Italy's amazing football! Forza Serie A and Forza Milan! :)
Nice take, also, us Brits aren't nearly as intelligent as you people think, we don't have crooked teeth (at least not all of us), and although we may generally be one of the more depressed countries in Europe, that's down to our damn education system and not our European counterparts! (also, yes the queen still exists, no we don't all know her, and yes, our food IS terrible).
I agree. But there are undeniable cons in regards to certain immigration. the transferring of drugs from mexico to the US is a huge business. Also illegal immigrants taking up low paying job those in POVERTY need by taking the work for cheaper than minimum wage... yeah isn't helping. Here in the UK criminals from Poland, Romania etc come here to avoid being jailed for mostly very serious crimes such as rape and murder. But there are great people that come through the borders.. but you can't go ''building bridges'' and let everyone in. Also those people make genuine immigrants coming to work look bad.
There is an interesting Netflix program about the immigration coming from Poland, Romania etc... its a police force that are designated to finding and removing these people. There is a plane that comes every week taking many murder and rapists back to those countries. That isn't right wing propaganda... that's an actual UK police force showing what they do. P. S i didn't read everything this may be a tad off topic.
It is at least ironic to quote M. L King, a communist who adhered to the one ideology that destroys Western civilisation today and then talk about respecting other cultures. Another false idol of the gullible and dumbed down masses. This man was lionised as some sort of civil rights icon, when the truth is that he was controlled and used for Communist ideological purposes against the white majority in America. The truth will never be shown to the masses because they don't want to shatter the illusion of the man that they created in a false image.
The problem with this is that it is not functional. It's an utopic thought - but far away from reality. Stereotypes, generalisations and such do happen and will always since its part of human nature.
So rather than living in the world of them being non-existent the aim should be how to deal with them constructively. Just like anger can be valved into destructive and constructive energy.
Personally, that is not MY reality, i don't stereotype or generalize, because it's meaningless, at least, this is my NATURE, and i wish more people would think that way, because then, you can change the reality to a NEW one that is more pacific and clear, so we all just get along without fussing about this... We have better things to do, so why not let everyone live in peace and harmony :) it's the same that we wish for ourselves..
I simply do not believe you, because I haven't seen a single person in my life who doesn't. You see someone with bad hygiene, you are more likely to judge them on it than just assuming he is poor. Seeing someone with a bald head and bomber jacket? You surely will not right away assume he has a medical condition preventing his hair growth.
You make assumptions all the time. Its normal. All the other people do it as well. The difference is not if someone makes those assumptions, but how to deal with them. Aka treating people with respect and giving them the benefit of a doubt.
Really? I can't believe Indians are still stereotyped like that. Throughout the history people are called "indio" "indians" that is synonymous to uneducated. Except for their accent I think they are actually smart. They are known at Silicon Valley as one of the top programmers... They contributed a lot to numbering system. Actually they have a lot to contribute to the world ever since history. And yeah, sugars and candies. That sweets that has changed the world that we know
Scotland is the land of inventions The telephone Penicillin Steam trains many many more And may I add highly educated Indians schooled in the UK as well Scotland and England I can't comment on other countries but I won't appriciate Syria as half them now live in Europe... when men up sticks and run away rather than fight then the world must take a dim view of that... you kno when they get free homes health care schools etc So please no thanks
Man, all over the place. America is fat by the way. It's pathetic. Death rates of middle aged whites is on the rise and average life spans of Americans are shortening because of obesity, laziness, and drug addiction due to depression. White America has a consumer problem.
I don't like that truth, because I concentrate on individuals and on people that are not rep presenting America as FAT and UGLY, no way you can win this with me.
I'm not trying to win. You have the right attitude. HOWEVER, the statistics bear out that Americs is generally overweight. People already examined Americans with an open mind and the results are in, they're are a lot if fat pieces of crap barely walking around.
I live here and have to walk around witnessing this crap. You'd be disappointed how little it varies by state/region. Generally, when American metabolism slows down after starting a family, their eating habits don't adjust accordingly. And they subsequently learn to bitch more, while physically doing less
Not really when other people's choices influence the consequences of my own. These fat pieces of shit are driving the costs of fuel, food, health care, insurance, pretty much anything you can think of.
What I find frustrating is that many people think India is the place to go if you want to get raped or molested and Syria is the place you want to go if you want to get bombed. That makes about... not more than zero sense.
Peace is always the highest aspiration, but there are bullies in this world and diplomacy is off the table. When this happens, there can be no answer other than violence. It is a necessary evil, but to maintain peace, prepare for war.
The country is on the verge of civil war. Soon there will be shooting in the streets. The dems have come completely unhinged. Reel 'em back in wouldja? LOL
Plus Japan made anime, without which my glorious profile picture would not exist.

Those things you mentioned don't really dissipate the much stronger stereotypes, but nice effort and and I guess good natured, as someone else said. Stereotypes do, of course, have a reason to be.
