3 Reasons Why Brazil Is More Sex-Positive Than America

PleaseNoPineapples

As a proud feminist who was raised in Brazil, I'd hesitate to call it a feminist country. Brazil? A feminist country? With its high level of gender inequality? Nonetheless, after moving to America, there's one way in which I can proudly declare that it's more feminist than America. And that's in being sex-positive (or at least more sex-positive than America). In this post, I'll go over 3 reasons why Brazil is more sex-positive than America and hopefully show why America should be the same way.

3 Reasons Why Brazil Is More Sex-Positive Than America

1. Showing skin isn't shamed upon

Have you been slut shamed for wearing short shorts? In Brazil, all girls wear short shorts, including little girls. I wore them. My mom wore them. All my friends and friends' moms wore them. Slut shaming a girl for wearing short shorts in Brazil is unheard of. Does slut shaming exist for other things? Of course. But if you're wearing short shorts or showing skin in another way, being slut shamed is one less thing you'll have to worry about.

2. Twerking isn't considered slutty

In Brazil, twerking is considered to be feminine, not slutty. After moving to America, I was surprised by how what's considered a feminine dance in Brazil is considered slutty in America. In Brazil, when I was still a preteen, I used to twerk for my brother's friends every day. What did my brother think? He thought it was funny that his friends were so obsessed with me. What did my parents think? They thought of it as harmless flirting between kids. But in America, I would've been considered a slut.

3. Grinding (freak dancing) isn't taboo

Does the thought of a couple grinding make you wanna shield your virgin eyes? Then Brazil isn't the place for you. In Brazil, everyone grinds. My parents saw me grinding with my ex-bf too many times to count. I've even seen my parents grind. But in America, it's considered to be an inappropriate dance.
