Guy friend compliments me A LOT?

I have a good guy friend, and he's really nice, and we've even talked about how there's nothing going on between him and I, but he tends to compliment me A LOT on like everything about me like my looks and stuff like that.

It makes me worry that maybe he actually likes me, but I don't want to date him because we wouldn't be compatible. The thing is, he's really smart so he knows that, which makes me worry he's just hitting on me or trying to get in my pants :/

That would make me pretty sad if it were the case because he's a really good friend and I would hope he would at least respect me more than that, plus risking ruining the friendship if stuff got weird.

Anyways, I know for sure I'm not interested in getting physical with him or dating him, and he knows that, too, because I have been completely up front with him about that from the beginning. But do you think his frequent compliments mean he's just being nice? I hope that's all it is...

No he really likes you and one day hopes you will like him too but he is not going to push the issue. You let him know the deal and he will respect that. Enjoy your good friendship with him. He likes you so much that being your good friend and respecting you he knows makes you happy and that is all he really wants. If you go through bad dating experiences it will fluster him because thinks he can make you happy and keep you happy but he will probably never cross the line unless you do something that would cause him confusion. Such as if he is spending all his time with you and you are liking it and he starts getting interested in another girl you can't be mean about it. I have been friends with a girl that didn't want to ruin our friendship by chance of dating then breaking up and I respected that really got confusing when she dated guys but got mad at me for dating girls. Also no he is not just trying to get down your pants he wants you on a hire level. Don't treat him different because of this just enjoy your friendship with a guy that would do anything to make you smile.

Cool, thanks so much. It's totally OK with me if he dates other girls. He's hooked up with a few girls since we've been friends and I've had no problems with it. I'd even try to help him find a good girlfriend :)

I think he definately likes you- guys don't pay that much attention to girls they're not really that into, so he must be crushing on you...best way to let him know you're not interested is to tell him that you're not really looking for a relationship right now- if he still doenslt take the hint, tell him flat out that you adore him as a friend, but as nothing else but don't want to ruin the friendship you have xxxxxx
