He didn't message me back? Does this mean he doesn't like me?

so there's this guy that I've had a huge crush on for a while. I've never talked to him. we've made lots of prolonged eye contact. and my friends and I have caught him staring at me a lot. though recently, sometimes he looks away quickly when he notices that I noticed him staring. also, there have been times in the past couple of weeks when it seemed like he was avoiding me. for example, a couple of weeks ago, he was walking through a hallway and I came out in front of him and started walking the same way to lunch. suddenly, he turned around and started walking the other way. but I guess it could have had nothing to do with me.

so, last night I decided that I would send him a request on Facebook with a note that said something like "hi, I'm (my name). I've seen you around school and I just wanted to say what's up?" I got on at 2 this morning and he had just accepted me. he was idle and then he went offline a few minutes later. and he never messaged me.

im really worried that he didn't message me back because he doesn't like me. I asked a guy friend who is also friends with him about it and he said that he might have been nervous and that he's shy except for when he's around his friends. I have noticed that he seems to be pretty excited when girls talk to him. and most of my friends say that he's unattractive. but is it really that hard to talk to a girl over Facebook?

guys, what do you think? I'm afraid to try to talk to him again cause I don't want to come off as annoying. we have a girls ask guys dance coming up, but id rather not get rejected.

i know ho you feel. definately ask your guy friend who's friends with him if he knows if he's into you or not. if this boy is shy then it's understandable that he didn't answer you. he might feel nervous talking to you over the computer. definately be up front thought and ask him to that dance girl!

At least he accepted your friend request, that's a big first step. Maybe he wants to talk to you thru the FB IMs or something before he posts anything public. Plus, he may want to think about the right thing to say, so if you don't get an immediate response, don't worry!

Unfortunately, not. my friend introduced us about a month ago. but we haven't talked since. he still seems to avoid me, even though when he isn't, he stares at me like I'm some sort of museum. but according to his formspring, he likes a girl at another school. maybe if I had tried harder to talk to him, that wouldn't be the case.

He's just nervous that he might say the wrong thing. Start talking to him in person and the chances of Facebook chats might elevate.

How should I talk to him in person if he avoids me? like one time I was with my friend who is also friends with my crush, and my friend tried to call him over so that we could talk, but he woudnt come. and the other day, the same sort of thing happened, but he still stared at me afterwards. I mean I don't want to approach him and scare the kid. lolz.
