The USA are quite big and answers will be very different in NYC and San Francisco from answers in Missouri or Louisiana. Then there's Europe, Australia, Canada. A problem with the profiles on Gag is that , even when not private, there's no way to guess if it's South or North USA. Seeing which states the answers are from would be interesting.
Believe it or not. There's white people out there who couldn't give two fucks either way. If people admire another race let them. We're not a colony of bees all pulling towards a similar goal. We're individuals. Whites don't see themselves as a collective. There's just millions who have similar skin colour and that's it. You see some people refer to a certain race as if it's a colony of ants or an invading army under one commander. So narrow minded an outlook it boggles my mind sometimes
I know not everyone feels that way. But these standards do exist. And this is why many non whites ask "would this white guy/girl like me?" It's not asking if white people are secretly racist or whatever. It' basically asking, "is my Blackness/Latinoness/Asianness?/etc. too much (based on what the media tells us) that a non black/Latino/Asian may not appreciate?"
You should never doubt yourself. The media is full of lies and biased double standards. A lot of the men running it should be in front of a judge and jury. To answer your question a lot of white men find foreign women attractive. Not all but some. Each to his own.
I'm from South Africa. White people are by far in the minority here so this whole "Eurocentric" beauty standard is not really a thing. The only point you mentioned that apply to our women is the hair thing. I do see many black women with weaves in. I suppose that's a tend that caught on here but I don't really think it's a issue as I straighten my own hair too sometimes and I'm white. I do think it's a "thing" overseas though from what I've gathered.
Maybe this is true, maybe not sinde I haven't noticed it that much, but maybe I just don't pay attention too much to someone else's race, but what am I, as a white girl, supposed to do about it? It's not my fault producers think that's the beauty ideal. I don't discriminate against other races. I have been 'confronted' about this before but what can I do about it?
Thats an idea in some ways i only hear from non-whites.
I know white people who are interested in some races and not others (for dating).
I know some white people who will date black people and others who won't.
But I don't know any who will but then draw some line based on how dark. Like if they want to date white people they'd date white people. If they're open to dating non whites, its like... they don't have some color scale. The whole drawing a distinction between slightly darker vs slightly lighter, from what I can tell, is more an in-group behavior.
I cannot escape it when i see beautiful white ladies on tv, billboards and in workplace, it's the beautiful white woman/man in top positions and in lower positions that soar quickly in any company.
I think it depends on where you are in the world. In Western nations I believe it is due to that white people are the majority population most of the time and some influence on history. But when you go to Africa you'll see African supermodels, then Latin America you'll see Latin Supermodels and Asia you will see Asian supermodels.
I am not a white person and I DO believe in Eurocentric beauty standards.

Yes, there is. So what?
If someone feels pressured by it and gives in to that pressure, they probably aren't worth much as a person anyway -- so who gives a fuck how they feel?
I'm not saying that white people are terrible for this, or they should for possessing these traits. But it's to help people on this site with the "why do they care so much about their race?"
Can't say any of my non white friends have ever wanted to be white it used any products to be white. There's whites in South Asia who aren't mixed and a lot of this white beauty
Myth and wanting to be white is highly exaggerated by the western media to fool the masses into keeping white dominance in the world.
There's a huge difference in wanting to be lighter than whiter. Most women people want flawless eventone skin so use those creams not to be white and straight hair and noses etc are not exclusive to white Europeans either as other races have them too.
They're not exclusive to them, but they are most common with them. The notion is to be as light as possible. It's near impossible to "change your race".
They aren't most common with them. You'll find such features are all over the south Asian subcontinent. Again it's mainly white western media bias and research that's makes people think differently.
I was stating that whiteness and light hair skin eyes etc is not just limited to Europeans. I have many friends with non mixed family from south Asia who also have that colouring and features yet many here are uneducated enough to believe it's only common amongst Europeans or mixed groups.
Of course it's not limited to them. But it's a lot more common in them. Afros are not limited to black people, but it's definitely more common in them.
But that pales in comparison to the other things that non whites go through to look "More white". I didn't even mention about the Asian whole white worship that will go through surgeries to "fix" their features.
That's not even remotely on the same scale, though I do agree that it's popularity is increasing.
Home > Society & Politics > Polls > For white people mostly, but non whites can answer as well:: Do you believe that Eurocentric beauty standards is a real thing?

Beauty standards aim at those who have the spending power
Eurocentric beauty standards just acknowledge where the spending power is.
Of course that will change, because with our austerity politics spending power moves away from Europe and the US.
Are you white?
I am white, indeed.
There's no merit in being any color.
It's not that your white opinion holds more merit. It's that many white people, especially guys, seem to get indignant upon hearing this.

hahah thanks i love anime in general! haha
There's definitely a Eurocentric standard of beauty.
Are you white?

Beat me to it
I've heard that song lol

From what I've seen I think that it's obvious that it exists. People go through pain to have white skin, and prominent features.
beyonce is absolutely stunning they shouldn't manipulate or edit any images of her
I agree! She looks weird altered.
Growing up in a white family, but mixed school... I was completely and totally unaware of it.
I get that it happens in the media, and don't doubt that some people push it, and that it weighs on non whites and i'm aware of it now.
But I was totally unaware of it growing up.
I had pretty light blonde hair as a kid.
I hated it. Men were supposed to be 'tall dark and handsome'
Hmmm. I guess it goes with that as well, to be more "feminine" is to be lighter, and "masculine" darker.
But extremely dark skin people, men included, are usually less desired.
Thats an idea in some ways i only hear from non-whites.

I'm white I like Latin American beauty standards lol
Are you from the US?
Yes delia
Lol ok Tim.
I cannot escape it when i see beautiful white ladies on tv, billboards and in workplace, it's the beautiful white woman/man in top positions and in lower positions that soar quickly in any company.
Not sure if you're being sarcastic lol
No I wasn't

I'm chinese and I think Asians are way hotter then white people. I do not perceive white people to be that good looking.
I am not a white person and I DO believe in Eurocentric beauty standards.

i voted C i don't belive in Eurocentric beauty standards
You don't believe they have influence or you don't follow them? I should have made this clearer lol
no influence and i don't follow lol
You're not from the US right?
nope lol
In other words you're telling us that as white men admiring the beauty of our women is a bad thing... how would you call it? Thats right! Racist!
No -___-
I'm not saying that at all.
Can't say any of my non white friends have ever wanted to be white it used any products to be white. There's whites in South Asia who aren't mixed and a lot of this white beauty

Most white people have light/fair skin. More than any other group.
I was stating that whiteness and light hair skin eyes etc is not just limited to Europeans. I have many friends with non mixed family from south Asia who also have that colouring and features yet many here are uneducated enough to believe it's only common amongst Europeans or mixed groups.

The standards do exist in most places, yes.
Are you white?
Yes I'm white.
That's weird, considering most girls who are pale don't get out of the tanning salon.
That's not the same nor does it discount the preference of white/light features in the media.
It means white girls want to be darker,
I'm just pointing out at the fact.
By the way, do you identify your self as Caucasian?
But that pales in comparison to the other things that non whites go through to look "More white".
I didn't even mention about the Asian whole white worship that will go through surgeries to "fix" their features.

No. I guess I'm Hispanic/Latino.
