If you consider yourself open minded or you would use the term "Open minded" on someone you know. How you analyze the concept of this term and what it means to you?
What makes you to find this understanding that someone is open minded?
I shall define an open mind by defining a closed mind:
"My views are right and everyone else's are wrong because I said so even though theirs are probably backed up by facts and mine aren't!"
An open mind is a source of wisdom, not some mere holier-than-thou jackass who happens to be knowledgeable. When an open mind happens upon an opinion they disagree with or truly know to be wrong, they don't just harp on that opinion's holder, they analyze such an opinion and dispense wisdom accordingly, usually in a peaceful manner. All criticism is constructive.
An open mind accepts change and evolution; an open mind is always evolving.
An open mind looks not only inward, but also outward.
Excellent note!
Specially the first part is really important!
Thank you for taking time and sharing your idea.
Certainly.
willing to truly consider ideas they may not agree with. the ability to listen and truly hear other opinions. knowing that they're mind isn't and shouldn't be so set as not to be open to different things.
Nice point. Agreed.
Thank you for your time.
I am an open minded person, very liberal but I am also quite the realist. How it is, is that I am always open to new things, meet new people. I can tolerate all cultures and norms and values without being overly judgmental. I am able to understand why different people see things differently. I learn new things and think about how I can add them up to how I already view certain things. I am very opinionated but I can always adapt to new concepts by learning new things that I believe are sensible. My opinions usually revolved around the maximization of happiness. I am able to respect all opinions for as long as they do not undermine the rights of anyone or anything.
So far you are the second person with the best explanation that is deepened and fits into my mind. Which makes it hard to choose MHO! "sigh" i hate when it comes to dealing with this system!
However, i appreciate your time and effort. I agree with every point you have made. In my perspective, this is the real or at least we can say the closest definition of an open mindset.
Hahahah I am here to present my opinion and help and I do not believe in the system of MHO as a way to justify my views. I do not seek for MHO percentage so no worries 😂
I know! most of people think align!
But it's something i'd like to choose and when there is many great perspectives on the table i feel guilty how i'm gonna do that! lol!
You shouldn't because that is your right and your right is to be respected haha
Well, right now your attitude is exclusively a sign of an open mind!
To me, someone with an open mind strives to understand other's opinions and views. Someone who can really see things from other perspectives. And out of this understanding comes respect. Having an open mind is humbling because it means you are acknowledging that your view isn't the right or only view. That there are many different perspectives and that nothing is really objective. Even if you do believe some things to be objective, you can still stand strong in your beliefs but at the same time understand others' beliefs.
Great points.
Specially the last paragraph is strongly part of my belief.
Thank you for your time.
I believe open mindedness is the ability to understand a broad spectrum of things - or at least trying to understand a broad spectrum of things - without instantly condemning them because they don't automatically fit your view. Too many people associate open mindedness with total acceptance of previously taboo subjects - but to me it's deeper than that, and I consider myself open minded.
YESSSS!
@Katherine3110hun ;P
Firmly agree. I can say you explained one of the greatest definitions of the this concept at least in my perspective. Beautifully stated.
Someone who can think outside the box and isn't afraid to ask questions about anything, isn't very bothered or threatened by other cultures different from their own, it think open mined people don't judge as much as close minded people and their motto is more or less "you do you".
Lots of good points. Agreed. Specially i believe the very first thing would be thinking out of the box. It's a great ability to achieve.
Thank you for your time.

I think an open minded person is someone who is open to debate their own points of view and to eventually change them. I consider myself to be open minded, nothing is off the limits of discussion for me, although it's pretty hard to change my mind on some topics.
I agree about the first part. But the second part is unknown to me.
Why an individual should certainly change their mind?
I appreciate your time for sharing your opinion tho.
This is a good question. To me, an open minded person is open to hearing from people they don't agree with. An open minded person tries to understand where others are coming from. They don't judge people and they understand that there is a whole world outside of their own.
Agree! many people fail to face the disagreements and that is weakness. Certainly an open flexible mind is required to achieve this level.
Thanks for sharing your view.
Just listen and understanding on anything and accept including who they are and new things... Try not to judge them... Like having sex or meeting new friends who are gay... Different cultures. Be open, understanding and get along.
Good points!
Thank you for your time.
That is for me, preparing to listen to new ideas without being affected by personal belief and biases. That also includes a questioning mind, and being alert that something could gone amiss. An overall balanced view on things to accept or reject validity of claims.
Open-minded : Like a willingness to accept all opinions and grow from it, expansion in knowledge; Inquisitive. The ability to process all outcomes of certain situations or reactions.
Totally agree! brief and on point!
Thanks for the time.
To be able to entertain a thought even if you disagree with it. And having no judgement. Looking at things from a diffrent perpective, like walking in somebody's elses shoes
Agreed! nice example!
Thank you for taking time and sharing your idea.
being open minded is to accept new information without bias. So when someone disagrees with you or says something you don't like, you still hear them out and accept it if they have a point.
Agree!
Thanks for your time.
Someone who accepts people's fetishes and beliefs, no matter how weird they are and doesn't judge them based on it.
Good point! the world would be a better place if everyone would understand and think about the meaning behind your words.
some one who see's a wedding going on and doesn't think hetersosexual right away
someone who see's taking it from the back as a preference and not homosexual
some one who see's make up as paint
Good points.
Thank you for your time.
The ability to understand all possibility is infinite and limitless.
Agreed.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
Someone with an open mind doesn't judge people or situations beforehand. They try to understand the situations before forming an opinion
That's one of the factors i believe. Nice mention.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
Thanks man🙏
I'd say an open minded person puts evidence before their a priori beliefs. I've been open minded in the past, and would say I still am
Someone who doesn't accept everything he's told and is able to accept that which most don't accept
Nice concept.
Thanks for sharing your idea.
Basically I guess open to and OK with other viewpoints.
I'm close minded af though lol
To listen with an open mind, and to be open to outside ideas.
A mind receptive to knowing new ways of thinking, receptive to experiment some of those thinkings and respectfull with the thinkings it doesn´t share.
Essentially to be free of all dogma and authority.
Good point! however i can't believe being freed of authority is always a sign of an open mind.
Thanks for your time.
i can be pretty open minded about things
Someone open to new ideas.
What ever you do, don't ask ISIS
