Let me start up by saying, I'm all for men and women being treated equally.
In our modern society, there's an increased focus on girls being strong and independent.
However, when it comes to attraction, I personally prefer girls who are in some way fragile. I guess it's a need to feel I'm a man and that I have to protect and insure her wellbeing. And I guess, feel needed.
I might be alone in this, but when I look at society in perspective, the genders have never been more apart. No one needs anyone. We swipe through one after the other because 'what if the next is better', and generally don't care enough to fight for a relationship.
The fight for gender equality was, and in some parts of the world still is, a long needed step in our social evolution. We However, I feel we now are faced with a new challenge; learning to be men and women again.
I think we're too different to be equal. To me, asking whether men and women are equal is like asking whether fire fighters and policd officers are equal - well in what way? Both are important, but they have different abilities and different roles.
The trouble with the obsession with equality is that people talk as though men and women are the same and they view equality as sameness. That will never work because we just aren't.
Men are built for hunting and combat, while women are built for childbirth. That will offend a lot of people today, but it's the truth. When it comes to strength women can't compete. When it comes to childbirth and rearing children, men can't give birth or breastfeed can we? Some women will find that insulting because having been taught to obsess over equality they've been taught that motherhood, which is an amazing thing, is "just poppong out babies" and that in order to be of any worth they have to compete with men in the workforce and act like us.
The reason you for example like to feel. protective over a feminine woman os in your genes - it has always been the man's job to protect women and children, especially his own. Pregnant and nursing women are vulnerable, and this vulnerability triggers that response. It's completely natural, or else our species would never have survived. Or at least those who didn't have that instinct wouldn't have helped their offspring to survive and would have been genetic dead ends.
You're right that this has driven us further apart. Men are naturally attracted to feminine women, women are naturally atttactes to masculine men, and if you do all you can to take away thosw differences then you take away what makes them attractive in the first place. Then when you also discourage them from their traditional roles, and convince them that it's somehow degrading, that it's like slavery, that it's "outdated" etc. Which is what has been done, again it just pushes men and women further away from each other because then it just doesn't work.

I guess I have felt that this is such a basic self-evident truth that people who disagree suffer from brain damage.
The genders are different, but they are equal. If there is any current turmoil that is because we have always pretended they were not equal or as valuable. The goal as I see it was never to have women replace men. But to be seen as equal in the traditional roles they have played in our society. And given the opportunity is they wanted to do something different.
I think that both genders should be treated equally/fairly. But there is no such thing as gender equality because in all reality, we are not equals because we aren't the same.
Some people are so worked up on being politically correct with gender inequality, they talk like the inequality today was the same as it was 50 years ago. People need to understand that our society has evolved and we evolved with it. Evolution takes time for changes to happen. You can't just bitch, whine, and moan and expect changes to happen overnight.
I've met women who embraces the idea of a woman who stays home to cook, clean, and take care of kids while the man works. If a woman meets a man that fulfills that and treats her with respect, then I'm happy for her. If a woman doesn't want to play role, then she doesn't have to.
So there is nothing wrong with a guy wanting to be with a "fragile" woman. As long as you both respect each other and the roles you play.

Are we that apart? No, I don't think so. People have become more individualistic, which is perfectly fine in my opinion, but such individualism is not mutually exclusive with a sense of yearning to need someone else. Clearly, a lot of people still want somebody from the other gender.
Is gender equality bad? No it's not. Yes, both genders are different but that does not mean they shouldn't be equal to the law.
Genders are different, and are meant to be. Just like races and nationalities have different cultures, and should. "Equality" is just a masked term for conforming to one standard. If you really believe in diversity, you would celebrate variety instead of criticize it.
I dunno, how can two radically different people be equal? I mean the supreme court already determined in like, what, 1962? 1964? that different facilities were inherently unequal. I dunno, I don't get too caught up in it because it really has no impact on my day to day life or most peoples' day to day lives.
I think it's unrealistic and generally when talked about as a good thing to push for is done so dishonestly. Truth is you want equal opportunity (which we have), equal rights (which we have) and equal value (debatable).
Men and women deserve equal protection under the law. No they are not identical, nor will they ever be, but gender and sex are not reasons for a government to treat individuals differently.
Learn something about nature and get out of your mother's basement. Learn to live on your own, provide for yourself, get an education and get some wisdom.
