Do you really want to give government that much control over our personal lives? I mean, if we're gonna call overweight kids neglected, let's go ahead and call religious kids psychologically abused and legislate that, too.
For driving, you need a license. For parenting, you just need to fuck. I can't see how stupidity ever can be controlled. Any ''law'' trying this is bound to fail.

Ikr. I was ranting to Weeb on the phone about something like fat parents yielding fat children, and I suddenly was like “Wait a minute, BAD PARENTS LIKE THAT DON’T EVEN GET IN ANY TROUBLE FOR NEGLECTING THEIR KIDS REEEEEEEEEEE” and it blew my mind as well.

If the kid has access to that much food, then obviously they aren't neglected. Maybe if they're eating so much they're throwing up and shit every day, but come on. They aren't dogs. They can stop eating if it makes their stomach hurt.
Not necessarily. If a child overeats, the parent is obligated to stop it. Otherwise the parent is endagering the child´s health. Obesity is neglect. The parent/s do not care about the child´s wellbeing by letting it eat too much and too unhealthy.

Look, you only have no clue what you're eating until you're maybe, 6? 7? So once you're that old you can make the connection eat too much= fat. I seriously doubt that the child can eat so fucking much by the age of 7 that they are unhealthily obese. Any after that they should know the consequences.
Well, medical science is pretty clear on the health hazards of being obese as a child. Very young children are not responsible for unhealthy eating, their parents are

Basically the parent shouldn't have to coddle the child like a baby until they move out. Once they know that it makes them fat it is their choice to do it if the parents don't stop them. And again, they really can't do themselves much harm by overeating at the age of like, 5. It's just not enough time to do anything permanent.
You said there are studies or research or something? What age does it say children can get obese at? Because I'm pretty sure they can't endanger their health that way until they are like 10 or close to it.
The parents are legally responsible until the child comes of age, and could even in extreme cases, lose custody

If a child commits scuicide, and all the parents did was ignore them say "I'm gonna kill myself," before walking into their room, would you say they murdered the child? No. The kid did that. They just didn't stop it.

@Taylor_C No, if it's inherited that means that they didn't just overeat. They have slow/ altered metabolism that causes them to gain weight without overeating or being unhealthy at all. If the mom was just fat from overeating then obviously the child wouldn't inherit it. It has to be in her genes, and therefore basically unavoidable unless she goes on very strict and usually more expensive diets, and goes way out of her way to make sure she is even normal weight.
It isn’t inherited. Obese mothers getting obese babies just means the fetus was overnourished. Metabolic diseases causing obesity are extremely rare, and the majority of obesity cases have nothing to do with them
@Taylor_C Wait hang on, that's new information to me. So the mom cause she just has more food in her, overfeeds the baby while it's in her? That just sounds weird. How exactly could she control that from happening? You know how long it can take to lose enough weight at that point to be able to have kids without that, right? What if she wants to be a mom before she turns 30?
The mother should get to a healthy weight and healthy eating habits before she gets pregnant. Obese mothers need extra monitoring during pregnancy because it’s automatically a high risk pregnancy. The take away is: don’t allow yourself to be overweight. Being anorectic isn’t the only alternative

So as an adult they should keep themselves from becoming obese. But as a kid even if they know better, their parents are responsible for that? Sorry but that still doesn't make sense to me. I've gone a little anorectic or whatever before, and there's not much my mom could have done about it. With overeating, if you actually have food at the house all the time, then there's not much you can do either unless you are constantly watching over them. And that's just not something that should happen once they know better.
Sorry but if the child keeps doing whatever is unhealthy even after they know they shouldn't, the parents shouldn't be forced to hover over them and protect them from their own behavior until they turn 18. That just seems ridiculous to me. They need to learn to take care of themselves or there are gonna be consequences.
Anorexia is an illness, usually developed in teens. Not as simple over or undereating. Parents are responsible for their children’s health at all times
@Taylor_C see, I just think that would work. If the kid wants to be unhealthy they're gonna find a way to do it, whether or not the parents try to stop them. To punish the parent for something the kid did on their own to themselves, is like punishing a dog owner for the dog chewing it's leg off. Ya, maybe he should have tried to stop it. But ultimately that is the dogs fault.
Unless the kid legitimately did not know any better then I don't think it's fair to punish the parents for it as long as it only hurt the child.

Kids have no right to want to be either obese or anorectic as both situations involve health hazards. They usually require professional help in both cases

It is endangering the child as it is a serious health risk. Obesity is known to be causing serious illness and premature death even in young people, as it is a major cause of heart disease, coronary disease, diabetes and certain forms of cancer.

If it's gonna kill them then ya the parents should try and stop it. But if they can't then I still don't think the kid should be taken, but I don't care that much. I don't have kids. 75% would make sense if you combined the numbers of individuals that are overweight with the ones that are obese, but I’m pretty sure that statistic is closer to around 68%. Either way though, the UK’s percentage of overweight people in their population is 62%, while their obesity rate is 28.1%. I don’t know if the number of people that are obese is included in the overweight percentage or not though.

Criminally charged? No. It's not the law's business about what a family consumes. They should be admonished though and directed to receive help.
