At one point, some got together and developed one, that they thought should be a 'Universal Language' and called it Esperanto. It never caught on. Seems that the nation with the most money, and commerce is the one to know! It was French, a long time ago, and some thought Portugese, and maybe Spanish, in the Imperial times.
Now, it seems that English is the 'Default' but I think some dialect of Chinese will soon be quickly challenging that, or not, when they realize that their pictogram crap is harder to use than English, or some derivative of English. No "Racial Bias" intended!! :) :)

Simlish.
For real, I think a panel of several widely used language representatives should all meet to collectively create a new language that could be taught in all nations to all children and we could just call it "common" and that way no matter where you are in the world, someone who understand you is near by.
If I was to say the german words "haus, glas, hund" you'd correctly guess "house glass hound" or the welsh "tacsi, sgarff, coffi" you'd guess "taxi, scarf coffee" . even difficult ones like smwddio pronounced smoothio could easily be guessed or quickly learned to mean ironing. it would be interesting to comply a list of words that can could easily be recognised or learnt by speakers of other languages and use it as a base for a common language.
None.
Monolingualism isn't fun.
There's more fun and benefits to learning more languages. Plus learning more than one language as a kid makes it easier for you to learn more languages as an adult.
I'm also very biased, being a bilingual French and English speaking Canadian.
Experiencing different languages is half the fun of travel, anyways.
A monolonguist world would be so dull.

English, it is by far the superior language due to its specificity. The subjects of math and science are taught in English even in countries like Japan, China, Spain, and many others. This is due to most languages not being specific enough in measurement to adequately explain these subjects. This shows the language of math and science that is specific enough to teach everyone with, is the optimum language. Plus a lot of people in other countries already speak English.
I think it should be something close to what already know. Maybe old Latin. Most languages derive from it already so it'd be easy. Maybe Chinese and other Asian countries with non latin languages might have trouble but they all speak English anyway so they'll manage.
None. Language is an instrinsic part of peoples culture and just removing it would make most cultures fall apart. People assume culture influences language, but it also does work the other way around. Specific languages encourage specific ways of thinking due to the way the language is structured.
Plus isn't the big talk about diversity? Why would we remove different cultures anyway?None. The world is made up of different cultures, values, races, and ethnicities for a reason. Be worldly. Travel. Indulge. Expect the unexpected. And enjoy.
Bottom line is simple. NEVER be a tourist. Always be a traveller.
Best wishes on your endeavors.English, of course. That issue has already been resolved. It is the common language of the world and the common language of computer programming.
Chinese, Japanese Us pictures which doesn’t make for a flexible language especially now with the need for such a thing. Arabic is squiggles, Russian well no one knows it outside of Russia, Spanish but why, no reason. It’s English and has been for years.English, because it already is the international trade language.
United States American English. People from all over the world flock to United States of America, the land of opportunity. I say learn our original native language that is on all our original Country's documents. like our Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of rights, etc. Why does everyone that comes here feel that Americans should learn their language?
That was the original intent of Esperanto. It's very simple to. pick up and has both consistent spelling and pronunciation. If we were to do that it's a good place to start. Only problem is the ideology behind the language is not perfect.
English is taught just about everywhere nowadays... when an international language was developed in an attempt to get us all speaking the same it fell flat and infact i think at one point more people learned klingon than esperanto
English, but nowdays probably russian or chinese since they might take over your country, creepy communist dictator crap
English because it basically already on its way to be people primary or secondary language.
I'd say English. A lot of countries already teach English as a secundairy language. And although a lot of people speak Chinese, a lot of them speak English anyway. A lot of People who are native English speakers would speak no or very variable secundairy languages.
The language of love & if we as a world can all love each other & treat each other with respect & work as a team future generations will look back & say thank you.
i think irsh as a world language would be cool , the accent just seals the deal for me plus the way they word things that can't be translated you have to know the language.
Assume English isn't the world language - otherwise English of course. Then (high) arabic because it seems to me to be the most challenging and powerful language.
Sign language. Because it’s inclusive to those who are deaf or cannot speak as well.
I think Chinese or English would be good choices. There is already a lot of speakers of both languages, so they would be a good choice
