Voted "Disagree." Given the level of political awareness of most Americans, you could not swing a dead cat in a crowded theater - that is once the lockdowns are over - and hit anyone who has the vaguest idea of who the Senate Majority Leader is, let alone whether they hate him or not.
Just for the record, a survey by the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania found that 67% of most Americans could not name their own Senators or Members of the House, 54% could not name the year the Declaration of Independence was signed, only 36% of Americans could name all three branches of the government and 35% couldn't name any of them. It also found over 60% of Americans don't know which political party controls the House of Representatives and the US Senate.
So at the very least, the most that can be said is that any opinions the public has of the Senate Majority Leader are, at best, apt to be superficial. It being added that politicians in general have a bad reputation because as we know, the American public hates government and thinks it is taxed too much - even as it merrily laps up every government program that comes along.
Indeed, that public has the following profile. 1 in 6 who works, works for government. 1 in 7 is a Social Security recipient. (SS having currently $21 trillion in unfunded liabilities - about the same size as the GDP itself.) 1/3 of all families in 2020 received some form of transfer payment - not counting COVID stimulus checks. 47% pay no Federal income tax AT ALL.
So any opinion the public expresses on political figures should be, perhaps, taken with a grain of salt. Being less a response to the arguments those political figures are making than a visceral reaction to issues that they do not understand.
As far as Senator McConnell is concerned, he is a shrew parliamentary operator who threaded the needle of a difficult political problem and called bluffs. The Speaker of the House and the Minority Leader of the Senate were all for $2000 COVID relief checks going to everyone and anyone, including those who were making yup to $700,000 a year and had not lost their jobs in the pandemic. Thus taking the tax dollars of the poor and giving it to the rich.
Details, details. This split his party. Indeed, it found the cordially loathed and recently defeated President Trump - of whom I will add that I am no fan - on the same side as the Speaker. (Pop quiz: To which party to the President and the Speaker belong? Yes, that was being sarcastic.)
So, Senator McConnell said, in effect, "We don't think writing $2000 checks at a time of massive national debt to people making $700,000 a year is a really good idea. However, we'll go along with it if the Democrats agree to something we want and exempt small business from COVID liability suits."
"Egad!," cried the Speaker and the Minority Leader, "we can't have that! Give free cash to people making $700,000 is noble and walks in the footsteps of God! Yet to exempt small businesses from liability for a disease that no one has yet figured out how to control is an offense against the laws of God and man!!! This we will never accept! So will fight the Republicans to the last drop of the public's blood!!"
You see, it just so happens that the higher a person's income, the more likely it is they vote Democrat. Also, the trial attorneys are one of the Democratic party's biggest supporters. So hmmmm, follow the bouncing ball. The GOP is supposed to give up a position that it believes in but the Democrats cannot be asked to give up something in return because it might hurt the Democrat's supporters.
McConnell may be hated, but if he is it is only because he called bluffs. People never like people who show them to be what they are.

The guy actually proposed a $2,000 stimulus check to everyone. He attached it to and election fraud investigation and repealing 230… Democrats didn’t want it... As to the first bill, both house and senate passed $600 stimulus checks attached to a lot of garbage. Trump said remove the pork and give people at least $2,000. Nancy Pelosi required unanimous consent to remove any pork with the $2,000 stimulus check, thus it was automatically going to fail. She set it up to fail because she wants that money and doesn’t want you to get it. She then blocked McConnell’s alternative proposal. I don’t even like the guy, but you’re full of shit. That said, money printing is going more exponential than covid.

Mitch McConnell is your typical rich, old, out-of-touch, Republican, and conservative politician that refuses to help people in America during their greatest time of need, but wouldn't help hesitate to fatten his own pockets. Despite the fact that many people are still being locked down, laid off, and their jobs haven't called them back, or the fact that even the jobs that are hiring aren't paying as much, or still putting people at risk, he claims that $2,000 is too much for America to pay out, which actually isn't true in the slightest. However, he has no problem supporting huge tax cuts with no offset that could potentially put the country in trillions of dollars in debt. This means that the tax cuts that he supports would actually cost the country much more than the overall $2,000 stimulus payout. This debt would lower the standards of living for most Americans, especially the working class, but as long as he can get richer from not having to pay as much taxes, his standard of living would always be fine. Donald Trump is no better in the slightest because if he truly supported the $2,000 stimulus package, then he would have advocated it a long time ago, not at the last minute on his way out after spreading countless propaganda about election fraud.
#1 - McConnell is not the ONLY one opposed to increasing stimulus check to $2,000. There are other Republicans who agree.
#2 - Trump tied unrelated legislation to the increase. By approving, Congress would also alter terms of the Communications Decency Act. Social media companies would be liable for content posted by users. That would never be approved and severing the completely unrelated matters was blocked. Make no mistake, this was a deliberate and calculated move on Trump's part.
#3 - McConnell is an evil asshole. No argument. But he was set up to fail. It's Trump's last ditch effort to appear like he actually cares about American citizens. So sick of the manipulation. 16 more days...

What was REALLY shitty is how that taxpayer relief bill metastasized like a cancer into spending even more money than the actual taxpayer relief on items that had no relation whatsoever to taxpayer relief. I wish enough Congress people had the cojones to tell their various fellow cretins in Congress to just deliver a clean relief bill with the more generous tax relief, with no horrid spending crap "riders" loaded onto it.
Unfortunately Senate ruling party leader Mitch "The Turtle" McConnell is all too often outwitted by the smarmy and sleazy Senate opposition party leader, Charles "The hare Schumer.Well its only because democrats don't see Trump as threat anymore that they hate mcconnell more (but thats how they have always been). Republicans like McConnell but Trump supporters hate him because while they were never really big fans of republicans they tolerated them but now that McConnell has stabbed the president in the back and has openly shown that he was just trying to use Trump to strengthen republican voter turn out, the Trump supporters hate him (which is most of the republican base and all the moderates). So sure though again, that is only because democrats no longer need to hate trump (next conservative who is in office will get the same treatment as trump while democrats talk about how Trump wasn't so bad in comparison as they did with Bush).
Mitch is just being a big baby because the Democrats want to give so much of this Covid relief money to other countries. I know there's a lot of Americans who need money right now, but Pakistan needs 25 million of that Covid money for gender studies.
How does one person hold up the whole deal? Who is this guy? God? What happened to majority vote? This grump looks like he just got out of an elevator which was going to the 70th floor where everyone had beans for dinner and was gassing him out.
Seems that people have forgotten that McConnell has ALWAYS been an asshole. HE was the problem during Obama's entire 2 terms as well. It's ironic that after trump's win in 2016 ---- hey Republitarts --- did you hear that? I said "after trump's WIN in 2016 !! Yeah, he won - it wasn't rigged !! Get that? Are you idiots listening? -- excuse me, I digress. Ironically, after trump's win, he became soooooo horrific that everyone forgot what a shit head McConnell was. Mitch had the perfect deflection.
Now it's back on him, and nothing has changed, except America's #1 ass hole now hates America's #2 ass hole. #3 resigned - Bill Barr. The others are still vying for position. And this is why the senate run off in Georgia is so important. This isn't about democratic or republican (well, the Georgia run off is), but you get what I'm saying. This is about the people.
If they vote republican in the Georgia run off, Mitch stays in power. If they vote democratic in the Georgia run off, Mitch loses his power.
At this time, people need to stop thinking about party loyalty and do what is right. What is right is to get Mitch out of office. There are probably at least a dozen guys out there who engender far more resentment and loathing than Mitch. Cuomo, Newsom, the abominable upChuck Schumer, the moronic hysteric Adam Schiff-For-Brains, and the list goes on.
Agree fucking MCconnel!! Mitch says the survival checks are "socialism for the rich", but mitch has no problem signing that over bloated defense authorization act, with 740 billion dollars for defense contractors and war profiteers, many of whom are immensely rich. how the hell is that not soicalism for the rich? when he is giving endless money to already very rich defense contractors at a time when war spending is at an all time high, and higher than the next 8 countries combined. Mconnel is one out of touch bastard!!
I haven't been following this, because corruption always seems to win nowadays and we always get f*cked over, so I doubt anything will come of it. Americans will probably get less than $600 when it's all said and done, while illegal aliens and Pakistani social justice warriors get to buy brand new cars with American money. I'm so through with the government. Someone just nuke DC, already.
Some people hate Nancy Peloski too. She mostly be helping out the underdog. But why some thugs destroy her house with fake blood, graffiti slurs, & a decapitated pig head? They should’ve been doing it to Mitch but it seems he isn’t the most hateful person. Nancy did not deserve what she got served.
He's been trash for ever but remember that Pelosi rejected the stimulus deal earlier that was much better because she thought it would help Trump win. She said he just wants to put his name on cheks. And she was pushing for the 600 dollar stimulus the most saying it was a good deal.
I'm not a US citizen, but McConnell should be hated, but then again most conservatives should deserve to be viewed negatively. The other problem is that the democrats went along with Mitch, so they didn't help>:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/ifxW5j4X24AIt all depends on your education level and how much you believe in the theories. Specifically, people whom follow Austrian economic beliefs will ultimately agree that McConnell was correct and see him as a pillar of good. However, if they believed in MMT, fundamentally, they would agree that McConnell is wrong.
Considering the average person probably doesn't know anything about aforementioned, they would probably side with the MMT, because they want money.I wonder if Trump put him up to it. He wouldn't want to be the scrooge president or have people think it was an act of spite so I reckon he's paid mitch to be his whipping bitch.
Shameful. Would rather the poor suffer than offer any kind of aide, because it might be called "socialist." And then has the audacity to call himself Christian. When people were in need, Jesus gave them bread and fish. McConell would have us watch them starve in the streets.
Get used to it. He and Joe Biden have been pals since the mid-1980's.
But as for McConnell? Meh, I pretty much hate all of these politicians who treat the people as pawns, whether it is lording relief over them or destroying their futures through idiotic regulations and restriction on liberty. He looks like that hand-eyeball monster from Pan's Labyrinth. That's the first think I think of when anyone mentions him and I'm sorry if you now see the resemblance too.
Maybe for Democrats Nancy Pelosi is the most hated American for Republicans maybe they can share the title most hated Americans.
personally I find cocaine Mitch is slow speak hilarious “ leverage what leverage?”McConnell is watching out for the country. Dems do not givexa damn as they drafted up a 6000 page bill and only gave a few hours for it to be read. There are multiple things in it that do not belong and have nothing to do with stimulus. Billions of dollars to other countries. pelosi and her bitches use this crisis to try to further their own political adjende and enrich their bank accounts. McConnell is trying yo protect this country where dems do notvgivexa damn.
