Honestly i would not want to live anywhere else i in these times i mean say what you want about this country but it is one of the greatest ever to exist, it's not perfect but we're tend to correct mistakes to make life better, unlike some countries that constantly remind you that if it wasn't for our fearless leader the sun would not set or rise each day, or have to constantly show your íd to go from one block to another, i don't give a damn how much you concede to people they're asses are never satisfied, it's not a perfect country but it is for me, yes I'm a patriot but not a gung ho one ready to go destroy the lives of others just cause our fearless leader says so blindly,
Patriotism is divisive. As many ism’s go they separate people when, in reality, we are all people all across the world. There’s no need for division lines. How many wars and how many people have to die over invisible land borders or secular thoughts? What if we, as people, could just live anywhere we want? Pride is a deadly sin and, while I am not religious (another division between people), there is good reason for this. As soon as you draw a line between you and others you have one of the essential building blocks of disliking someone you don’t even know. Governments love patriotism - I personally - don’t want a world where it exists anymore.
I'm in Canada. I'm not really patriotic because fuck patriarchy. I like my country, but the governement kinda sucks. They're not handling the new news about the residential schools well and it's frustrating. So no, I'm not, but I still will be celebrating Canada Day with my family.
You can argue for republicans all you want but what gun laws have they repealed? Abortion laws? It took Desantis and Abbot having balls for the party to do ANYTHING! These assholes don’t care about us. I switched to independent after the 6th. I vote for the people that say they do what I want. Not down party lines.
So wrong post.
I love my country, and I hate my president. He's a huge embarrasment and a disgrace to America.
Don’t worry somebody’s gonna kill the sob... eventually. I hope it’s AFTER he loses office... as shitty as he is there’s worse... Harris would do what he’s doing but faster and more violently.
@VanillaSalt
That's a good point. As shitty as Joey is, it's best he not leave office until we can trade him for a decent Republican.
If you think republicans will save us you might be as dumb as the democrats... democrats actively want to dwstroy our society but all republicans do it say no and slow them down... they don’t stand for anything and are just as trash as the democrats. Give me gov Desantis or my own gov abbot as president. Their not traditional republicans and might regain the ground we’ve lost... but that will only save the next generation this generations already screwed society’s screwed this countries screwed. If we don’t get crush when China wars with us then this sudden collapse will be just what we need to restart society without this feminist/woke propaganda destroying society.
@VanillaSalt
Oh, so Desantis is running as a Dem?
Desantis isn’t a typical republican
@VanillaSalt
Ah, so you now admit I was right when I said a "decent Republican."
Not sure if Desantis counts as a republican at this point though... by definition don’t republicans need to be like Mitch these days?
@VanillaSalt
No they don't have to me like Mitch.

How many who think this country is horrible believe that because CNN/MSNBC and late night "comedians" told them that is what they should think?
I think it's horrible because of legalized abortion, legalized homosexuality, and women who rape men's pocket books and get away with it.
I think it's horrible because "freedom of religion" promotes any false god one wants to worship.
I think it's horrible because "freedom of speech" promotes any lie, and there is no truth in advertisement or government. Candidates can tell any lie they want to, and a small majority will vote for them anyway.
I blame both political parties, and I think corporations and political parties should be banned.
Depends what country you are talking about , there is far more than one.
One of the worst traits of some in the USA is this unmitigated flag waving bullshit , they have been bought up with this nonsense , be objective , be critical , but you simply do a diservice if you run around chanting and waving flags , its ludicrous.
Know your strengths and my all means work to the strength , but the " no fault " blind , flag waving , is sickening to the core , and its fake , pure and simple.
Just as one must know strengths , weaknesses , are just as important.
I want to be. I used to love my country. I do respect what my country stands for... I do not respect it’s people, it’s culture, it’s weakness, and most of all it’s acceptance to allow people to walk on it.
Democrats want to destroy our very foundation. Republicans just let it happen. They say no no no no... eventually they can’t stop the stupid and we fall further into hedonism. There the people that actively wanna take/destroy what we have, the fools that just say no but never try and balance the system, then we have dumbasses making posts asking if we care but are completely unwilling to do anything about it... it’s not the Democrats who cause this I hate or the Republicans that consider it a win to slow them down... it’s idiots like you and everyone posting on here that don’t even try and do anything to stop it beside vote.
Way to save our country in the least helpful way possible.
"Patriotism means to stand with your country, it does not mean to stand with your president."
-Theodore Roosevelt-
No matter who is in charge of this country, whether Biden, Trump Obama, Bush or whoever else, I will always stand by her side. I will always question government and do whatever is possible to make sure the limitations of government power are limited. The people's freedom comes above all else and no extremist political agenda, left or right, will ever take that away from us.
Yes. I love my country, I support what it USE to stand for. That doesn't mean I support the idiocy of politics or the agenda's of politicians, who in my opinion are generally the least patriotic people there are being only interested in benefiting themselves at the expense of the nation. As an American I take pride in the basis of our country, and I think the people who hate it are simply oblivious to our history and culture (which sadly is most americans now a days).
I am. The United States still has opportunities and we have it better here than in so many other parts of the world. There are places in the world where there is not much work or opportunity for a better life. People here only face poverty because of their own stupidity, criminality, drug addictions, or laziness. The one exception to that would be ACTUAL medical disabilities (not sorry ass adults faking it) or an unfortunate/unplanned event outside of their control. Despite that, most people with strong foundations, good health, and work ethic tend to bounce back quickly, despite any setbacks they might face in life.
Yes to both countries to which I am a citizen (I am a dual-citizen), although not because I think the countries are so amazing; it's because I have both the privilege and responsibility of being a citizen.
It's like I am very loyal to my company and its brand, even though it is far from the greatest. I still have a role in it and a part in shaping it, and so it has my allegiance.
I see it in the sense of making the best of what we have. We might not be able to choose our citizenship as freely as, say, our lovers or our place of work, but suppose we lived in a society where arranged marriages were still a thing. In that sense, I think it's worth being loyal and committed to our spouses to make the best of the situation.
I also see it as the best chance of uniting a diverse range of people. It seems far too ambitious to me to unite people under some worldwide banner. The country's flag seems like a more practical step for uniting people even if it's already ambitious. At least it isn't as ambitious as some world banner.
Loving your country doesn't mean you can't have criticism of it when there are problems. I love America for the freedom and protection the Constitution gives us, but I recognize that we have flawed leadership at the moment.
Very, America is by far the greatest country in the world.
People often equate patriotism with thinking that their country is flawless, that isn't true. America has no shortage of flaws, I mean look who our current President is, but we're still better than everywhere else.
Not in the slightest. I think the concept is ridiculous. You don't choose the country you're born in. I admit that some countries have better values than others and better governments that are more for the citizens. And I may fight for my country but only if I find the cause righteous.
Don't be stupid and jingoistic.
Being "patriotic" just means you're supportive of any and all crimes committed by the government in your name.
Thus you cannot complain when terrorism and crime happens to you, because of those acts.
It's an entirely horrible state of affairs and a darker side of politics.
I think it needs to be more Patriotic, some of our Veterans get treated horribly
they qualify for healthcare but don't get it cause of loops in the system and
some qualify for more money but don't get it but I do stand by the Veterans
my late Great Grand-dad was a Veteran and so was my late Great Uncle
Yes. I live in Canada, so do want things in Canada do be alright. Otherwise, I also hold Israeli citizenship & support Israel's existence. I support America as it's a country founded on a set of inspirational ideas. Russia is my family's native country, so I do love Russia, despite my many criticisms.
Which country is "This country?"
But no, not really. I am critical of humanity in general. Not to say I don't like Canada and I happy to be here, but it's important to remain critical as Canada is a shifting concept, as are all other Countries.
Pragmatically...
4 years Army & Nam SSGT, Combat Photographer,
3.5 years Air National Guard as a Ground Vehicles Driving Instructor.
30 years as Peace officer, Private Detective then Criminal Profiler in International Human Trafficking.
My country, meaning the government, has been involved in a lot of fucked up things. It also does good things. I think the whole idea of "patriotism" is very misleading, misused and has become a political tactic to stir up hatred. The idea that trying to make your country be "better" than it is gets translated into "love it or leave it", is beyond absurd. Real patriots speak out against tyranny - sheep just follow blindly and think they are. Sound familiar?
I like this country, although that's becoming less and less true, unfortunately. But even before this country was hit with ridiculousness, patriotic was never something I've ever really considered myself. But I do/did like this country. I do think it is the best country (hopefully it stays that way). But I feel like a patriot is particularly passionate about their country, and while I'm not dispassionate, I just don't yet that worked up over it.
Due to certain degree. My belief isn’t in government or organizations but citizens and people who try to uphold reasonable and decent values such as love for one and another and fairness for everyone regardless of differences.
I voted "sometimes" but I'm patriotic every day. The reason for my vote is because of my countrys faulty leadership and their selfdestructive policies designed to erode everything that once was good about this country.
It's a confusing middleground between loving my nation and hating it's leadership.
I'm not patriotic, but I do realize my country is quite good. I'm not sure why you'd need to think your country is horrible to not be patriotic? I just don't think that my country is part of my identity so it's been weird for me to be patriotic
