There’s no doubt that racism still exists in different parts of the world.
There’s also no doubt that humans, throughout their existence, have mislabeled things for ulterior purposes.
Sometimes, people can be lazy and use terms that they would not use if they were being honest and if they’ve conducted more research or invested more time thinking before using these terms.
I feel like today, the word “racist” is used irresponsibly. That is to say, it is used incorrectly and unreasonably either intentionally or unintentionally.
Racism can be a muddy or vague concept.
In other words, there’s not always a clear sign, perhaps muddy at best, that someone is racist.
Sometimes, of course, there is.
If someone critiques a certain race of humans, is this racism?
Well, no, it depends on the entirety of what is said.
There’s no other way to determine.
Some think this is in fact racism. The fact that you are even critiquing a race of humans is racism.
Others want a more specific/precise definition and examples.

I've seen it being used haphazardily in many cases. When people pull the race card to defend themselves, when they want to find a reason to nitpick people, when they find everyone racist except for themselves.
For example, this happened to me:
~ Me: "You're a bit too close to me, could you please give me some space?"
Karen: "OH I SEE. Is it because I'm *race1*? I swear chinese people always have a thing against us!"
Me: "It's not. You're just standing too close. It has nothing to do with your race or mine ma'am. Please don't be racist."
Karen: "I'm not being racist. You are." ~
In the end some people joined the convo and defended me and told the Karen to go away lol. Automatically assuming someone is being 'racist' to you because of their race is just ironic. They were just standing too close for comfort but somehow I became a racist to them.
@MAC1983 I guess. It's kind of hard to avoid stereotypes and label theory you still understand enough to identify them, despite not agreeing with some of them. People use it often. It could be doing more harm than good because a lot of people associate them with those labels.
I didn't intend to offend anyone with the term 'Karen' but it gives people the idea of what type of person they are.

The World is not comprised of only the USA. I was aware of some the memes, and some of the news. What I said didn't seem to phase the person who posted this comment. 🤷
There are genuine cases out there of people being abused for their exterior. However, when people mis-use it, it undermines the real cases of racism going on, which makes me so livid that someone is being unfairly defined with absolutely no cause. To call someone racist who clearly isn’t is absolutely disgusting behaviour. As it is to see someone being devalued due to their race or culture.
Yes agreed, All it takes is believing something opposite that may "offend" another and your racist. The idea of racism was create to promote the feeling of victimization not the promotion to needing a change to how people should view and treat others that we are less similar to the categories we have created.

Of course. Fifty, sixty years ago, racism in the US, and most of the west, was MUCH more blatant and extreme. A generation of Baby Boomers saw this and decried it (rightfully so) and their parents' and grandparents' generations for not doing something about it. The civil rights movement kicked into overdrive, and most of the bigoted policies were abandoned. Time passed, struggles were won, and the battle moved from the street into the courtroom, but many people still had the struggle as their meal ticket, and, well, being a lawyer is hard.
In the US, the strategy of the left for the past 20 years has been to call conservatives names and to try to assassinate our character. This has led to a haphazard use of the language.
im sure i have seen that work both ways... i mean if anyone in the states as much as mentions socialism they are branded a commie traitor... not saying you are wrong but i am saying you are only reporting one side
Racism still exists in the world today, but it has also lost a lot of its weight and importance as a word because it has been used out of context so much within the last 8 years that you can't take it seriously anymore.
When you use it as a word for gaslighting and to mislabeling someone as one over a disagreement, you can't take it at face value anymore. Everyone is racist today in the eyes of modern culture, so is there really any point to take racism and racist as words seriously? (I am being sarcastic here with this statement, people.)
absolutely. it's almost like people are trying very hard to read racism into everything toi see a problem to then legitimate violence, being angry or starting a fight, be it online or in the real world.
racism used to be discrimination based on ethnicity. meaning if you couldn't get a job or a college admission or the right to vote if you were a certain ethnicity.
these days people already call dating preferences racist... or objective descriptions of social facts...
but there is actual and obvious racism happening in america and everyone is ok with it. it's called affirmative action...
Its value is decreased but people take it more seriously. But accusations are thrown around constantly so they're not taking seriously. The left thinks if you don't agree with their political stance then that makes you racist. It's really comical and ignorant of them too to act like they do. Its projection is what it is.
For example did you know that we could have a Supreme Court Justice that was a female black had it not been for Joe Biden voting against it twice and other Democrats. They didn't want a black lady who was on the court because she didn't agree with them politically. It's nothing about color of skin that they care about. It's their virtue signaling the only thing you have to do is agree with their Politics. The rest is virtue signaling

I would say no but I’ve seen it with my own eyes! I have a white mom who i also work with ( im a mixed child). We work in a predominantly black neighborhood which i also live in. My mom is the least racist white woman I know, she has never said anything or did anything even close to racist or to make me feel embarrassed of my culture, down to the music, to my hair, i have grown up in predominantly black neighborhoods my whole life.
Anyways when people start acting ghetto over pizza, she ask them to leave the first thing they do is pull the karen and race card and it makes me so upset the point i get into altercations with these people because why the hell you coming in to a place business acting like its the club or something? Im a 20 year old girl who likes to have fun, but i know how to go into a business and handle problems professionally.
People definitely use that racist word to loosely and not every white person is racist, not every human is racist.
Of course it is. It was designed to be used carelessly. Leon Trotsky was the person who came up with the word, and his idea was to tar anyone who disagreed with communism as a “racist” and “fascist.” That was a long time ago, but his approach has become an essential strategy of the political left.
The average person cannot even define it. They use it as an umbrella over every approach to race. For the record, bigotry and "discrimination" are not racism. Racism in recent history was limited to slavery and its reconstruction and subsequent after effects and the Trail of Tears that affected "my" people. There is been no significant "racism in almost 50 years.

It's not like a child isn't taught about racism at school, in most countries. If they can understand it so can you, I hope.
This isn't a Black Lives Matter thing, it's universal.
Simple examples of everyday racism: "You're Asian, you must be really good at math!" "Gypsies are all thiefs..." "A white man's job, that is"

For the most part, because they hear it every day from mainstream media, most people just repeat what they hear with little understanding. In modern times in the USA because the amount of racism is insignificant, it has no real meaning other than to insult or attack those they disagree with.
Yeah, it actually stems from the Christian idea that we are all sinners. For Christians, we cannot escape our sinful nature. This precisely describes how some of the far-left see things. Racism has played and important role in our past and influences the way we think. Same with Christianity. That doesn't mean that we are all racists or Christians.
Racism is the world used any time a white male has an opinion about anything non-white. Just like misogyny is the word used to attack and silence any male who says anything even slightly negative about female actions
At this point the word means nothing. That's why they had to resort to 'fascist'. Now they've ruined that one, too so we're at everything is White Supremacy / Nazi.
Racism has become simply a slur anyone uses against White people for any reason they feel. It's no different than old movies where some character defaults to calling people of a race a racial slur.
